Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang says electricians and plumbers will be needed by the hundreds of thousands in the new working world

Yeah no, LLM AI companies have ridden the AI will eliminate white collar jobs trope to push sky high valuations.

You don’t get to change the narrative this deep in the bubble.

While LLM AI is useful, it won’t replace all white collar jobs. The cost of using AI to replace existing jobs is starting to hit the P&Ls of most major users and it’s too expensive even with the subsidized services these LLM AI companies are offering.

The kicker is if anyone does ever create general AI intelligence it’s going to be controversial. A general AI will basically be a conscious thinking entity. To force it to perform functions is basically enslaving a conscious thinking entity. I’m sure big business will have no problem with legalized slavery. But is that something people will tolerate once it becomes known? I’m sure there will be resistance to it.

Russian FM & Part Time Ghoul Lavrov Rejects Western Demands for Peace Plan

While I agree with your summary, I think the answer as to why they can’t end the war is obvious.

They need the war to stay in power now and by extension to stay alive. The second it stops and it’s not a huge victory they will be over thrown and will be dead shortly thereafter.

They have no qualms with sacrificing every Russian to stay in power.

Personally I think the other insane option they may pursue is to somehow provoke the West into an armed conflict so they can “loose” to a greater power rather than to Ukraine alone. They might be able to justify the losses if it was to an Evil Western alliance. Hence the escalations with Europe recently.

Woaaahhhhh

Yeah that never sat well with me but I could imagine some kind of reason for a the Super Star Destroyer falling out of orbit.

Don’t get me started on the arching fire of turbo lasers and the way they abused light speed in the latest trilogy.

I’ve given up on thinking of Star Wars as sci-fi and now just consider it WWII in space.

Faceless creators are becoming collateral damage in YouTube’s AI cleanup

AI generate content and AI generated or edited scripts drive me insane.

They use the same cadence, repeat the question multiple times and use the phrase “that isnt a X, its a Y with Z” or some variation of that flow multiple times. Or the phrase “Before we talk about X, I need to explain Y”

As soon as I get hit with any of those phrases or cadences I have to turn it off. I know they will hit me with them multiple times in the video before showing me the thing I want to learn about.

I really do miss 90s History channel and Discovery channel before they became bullshit propaganda / reality TV machines. I miss being able to just sit and learn about something without being put through the wringer.

Panama and GW1 are pretty definitive victories. We accomplished the stated goals. Conservatives just weren’t happy with leaving Sadam in power after it became clear his regime wouldn’t fall after his defeat .

You could argue that GW2 was a quasi-victory. We of course never found the imaginary WMD’s Bush claimed was the reason for going in. But Sadam is no longer in power and Iraq is “freeish” and are self governing, but not an ally or trading partner like Japan and Germany. But the results just weren’t worth the blood spilled on both sides.

But yeah everything else is a shit show of poor planning and unobtainable goals.

In Wake Of 18 Murdered In Yet Another Mass Shooting, NRA-Funded Federal Agency Trains Children To Shoot Guns

This is such a bullshit article. Yeah the NRA is a terrible organization and there are a lot of reasons to attack them. But attacking the educational, gun safety and shooting sports programs that they offer or fund is complete bullshit and is detrimental to the public good.

This is like saying we shouldn’t offer driving classes because one day a student might get into an accident.

Correlation is not causation.

Zelensky cuts off Trump after he boasts about relationship with Putin: ‘I hope we have more good relations’

Reply in thread

Zelensky has to hedge his bets and play nice with Republicans.

Even if the Orange fuckwad looses you don’t want to appear to snub his base or give other Republicans a reason to oppose further aid legislation.

I mean they will oppose it because a third of the Republican Party are Putin’s shills, but don’t give them reasons to oppose it.

Younger Americans are friendlier to China

I think there is more nuance here. In all my direct interactions with Chinese people in business they have been polite, responsive and intelligent. I still get messages from them long after I left the industry I was in.

The CCP however is a different story. I am opposed to them as much as I am opposed to any person or organization that seeks to usurp or silence an individuals right to self determination. There are certainly domestic threats to that right which are greater than the CCPs.

Pre-Trump US is over. You can’t undo the damage he’s caused and go back to how it has been.

If there are fair elections and the Dems take the House and Senate investigations will begin and his crony’s will close ranks because they are just as culpable. Dems have no interest in a presidential candidate who is just going to ignore the crimes of the past administration like Obama or a wish to return to norms like Biden.

The left will want these people prosecuted and jailed when we return to power. The right will do whatever it takes to stay in power to prevent this from happening. The oligarchs will do anything to preserve their grasp on both parties so they don’t become targets.

No matter how it plays out the US will be a turbulent place for at least a decade after the 2028 election.
