Memes and Violent Posts

We have been seeing a big influx of memes and non Pic posts. This is a reminder that this community is meant for Pics which is just that - pictures taken with a camera. Any non Pic posts will be taken down and frequent infracture of that rule will lead to a temp ban.

We have also been seeing an uptick on Violent posts and manifestos. This is not the community for this type of post. No violent, NSFW posts are allowed. These will lead to an immediate temp ban. I understand with tensions today that people are rightfully upset about society, but there are other communities that allow such posts.

Any questions feel free to reply to this post or DM me. Happy posting.

Chicken companies prevent chicken from sleeping to keep them eating around the clock

US chicken companies pioneered restricting sleep to keep birds eating around the clock.

A new study (Li et al., 2026) recommends giving chickens just 2 hours of darkness nightly to maximize the time they spend eating. The study and photo are Chinese.

We know chickens have far better hapiness with 7–8 hours of darkness to sleep.

But they eat more when they are sleep restricted.

Toxic Mountains

The "mountain" on the horizon is not a mountain at all. It's a "chat" pile. One of many huge piles of mine tailings in what was the mining town of Picher, Oklahoma.

The intersection of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri was once home to numerous large lead and zinc mining operations. The mining ceased over 50 years ago. Today, much of the soil and ground water is so severely contaminated with lead that the area was deemed uninhabitable. It comprises four of the largest EPA superfund sites in the United States.

I read about this place a while back and since I live only a couple hours away, I decided to make a quick trip out there. I can only describe the experience as surreal and sobering.

Safety Warning: Exploring places like this, especially alone, can be extremely dangerous. The ground here is so severely undermined that a US Army Corps of Engineers survey determined the entire area is at high risk of imment collapse. There are sinkholes everywhere.

Birthday Baddie Sandy turned 27 today!!!!

She got loads of attention from everyone and people wrote happy birthday messages on the barn announcement board. It made me so happy. I didn't get to spend as long as I wanted at the barn because I've had a tough day and it's hot outside. I made sure Sandy got the attention she deserves though and lots of treats.

My TBI symptoms are gone, thank goodness. I also was told my house insurance won't cover the foundation damage cause by a tornado spawning essentially on top of my house. The wind applied enough torque to twist my house slightly and it's beyond fucked.

I just want to get through the winter without the place falling into the ground. My dad wants to sign his place over to me when he goes to live the RV life in the spring, so if that happens, I can just sell my place to whoever the fuck will take it.

It's going to cost like over half the cost of the house to fix it. And that's only the foundation. There's a retaining wall that needs replaced, the erosion on the driveway from 10.5 inches of rain in a month needs filled on, my front porch is close to collapsing as is my patio roof, and a bunch of inside walls need fixed after the foundation gets fixed because they're cracking. Every day I notice more damage.
