Oklahoma university instructor on leave after failing Bible-based essay on gender
I've been following this situation. This article leaves out a ton of relevant info. Here's some more details in no particular order:
Someone I follow on another platform pointed out that this looks suspiciously like a setup to stoke outrage and media attention.

It'll be ok. Nobody's going to judge you.
I've always thought "imaginary" vs "real" was an unfortunate naming convention.
I don't know about other fields, but electrical engineering uses imaginary numbers with AC circuits and changing electrical fields. Since electricity moves as waves, imaginary numbers let you represent what's coming 90 degrees later in a compact way.

if vibe coders built houses
Hmm, I dunno if that's a fair comparison. That house might be structurally sound and just look weird.

Revisiting Rule #3
I'm mostly a lurker. I've also been selfhosting for at least a decade, and I'm a professional in the IT sphere.
I wholeheartedly support this rule change. Hardware is a big part of selfhosting/home labs. And for some people, it's a hard leap to make.
If we end up seeing lots of redundant posts (e.g. "Can I use my old laptop to host stuff?"), we can always start an FAQ or something. But until and unless it becomes a problem, keeping the rule simple sounds perfect.

So...a "fun" reminder about the wealth gap. If you're in the top 0.1% of wealth in the US, you're still closer to homeless than you are to the billionaire+ class.
A source I found puts the top 0.1% at $64 million net worth (link) And the difference between 64 million and a billion is about a billion.

The bigger deal is how many customers will react worse if you engage with them in any way. If that weren't the case, pointing to the hours, shaking your head, etc, would be reasonable.

General strike against 13-hour day brings Greece to a halt

Greece is one of the most corrupt countries in Europe. They don’t respect driving laws. They openly throw trash in the streets. They smoke right in front of “Please don’t smoke here” signs.
For pedantry's sake, these aren't examples of corruption. In order for it to be "corruption," there has to be someone in a position of power who is misusing their power. ::: spoiler definition [0] "Corruption is a form of dishonesty or a criminal offense that is undertaken by a person or an organization that is entrusted in a position of authority to acquire illicit benefits or abuse power for one's gain." (wikipedia)). :::
Some examples of corruption would be:

I've worked with spectrometers and on spectrometry design before, and that quote from the article is intelligible. It's also pretentious and poorly explained.

In store surveillance
RFID tracking would be my first guess. If you want to know where a tag is, you need multiple readers. Are they roughly in a grid pattern?
A second guess, are there e-ink tags in this store? These might be repeaters for programming those.

What is the big deal that the new WH Press Secretary does not have a law license? Isn't this a good thing and shows any Joe Blo can get the job? No offense to Joe Blo's.
IIRC, she claimed to be a lawyer, but she's never passed the bar exam. If she didn't claim to be a lawyer, it wouldn't be a thing.
