What if the armor had it's own gender. Like male armor isn't armor for males, the armor is male gender. So when you put male armor on a male character that's gay.

Ah... I meant to search "zero clothes Samus", thanks.

Can't remember which one it was, but I remember a rumor when I was young, horny boy, that if you completed the game within a certain time she would be revealed naked. I tried so hard to get to that time point, but never could.

I got that far, but the rumor was at a faster time, can't remember what it had to be under, you'd get the full monty.

Ooooh okay that makes sense. Thats a classic CLASSIC sounding gaming urban legend. I love it.

Does anyone remember the Easter egg in the original Doom where the dancer would take off her top and bounce a little? 11 year old protist sure remembers. I'm totally failing to find any reference to this on the internet

My god, you're right. I would've sworn up and down I never even played duke nukem. This scene is not in good taste lmao

5

Yeah, not a lot of living humans in classic DOOM 😛

But if you're looking for shirtless... quadrapeds... it's got tonnes!

6

Free demo discs and downloads were everywhere in the shareware days. Maybe you played one of those?

This scene is not in good taste lmao

Nothing about that game was in good taste, and it was excellent.

I had a 486 66mhz I think it was? Anyway, I turned the graphics up to max and enjoyed a very choppy striptease 🤣

3

the larger overarching joke here is that in the original Metroid everyone just assumed that Samus was male and the reveal at the end of the game was a huge deal back in 86.' Samus is even referenced as "him" in the games manual.

I wish this were true irl, then I'd be invulnerable.

...but not impenetrable 👀

Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave has got your back. They've got full on boob window and open stomach options for both Avatars. I think even thigh window, but I can't remember.

As a straight guy, does this kinda thing annoy anyone else? She's a strong female character in video games, but just because she's a woman, designers made her a sexualized super model in skin-tight spandex. It feels pandering at best, and sexist at worst

You know this is the same character, right?

This is the main character from Metroid, Samus Aran.

6

Just work colleagues, Samus was rumored to be in a problematic relationship with her boss but that's nonsense.

4

Yes, we know. That's why it's funny. But it still makes the point.

But have you ever seen them make a "zero-suit" version of a male armoured guy?
Don't recall Master Chef or the Doom Marine running around in their skintight underlayers.

Additionally, Samus debuted in a game with no characterisation, and iirc, you only found out she wasn't a man when she stripped down at the end of the game if you did well.

3

Yeah, but I would wear skin-tight spandex if I looked like a super model, so it's pandering to me specifically and I'm fine with that.

22

It definitely annoys others, but in this case both characters are the same woman.

Not a video game, but my personal gripe was when GitS SAC had awesome everything except for the weird out of place (and ugly tbf) outfit on MC Kusanagi.

Did I just have a stroke? That's a lot of letters that I can't quite decipher

Ghost in the Shell, Stand Alone Complex (the original TV series); Main Character

Isn’t Samus a woman? Aren’t these the same character?

4

I think Metroid is a pretty cool guy. eh kills space piretes and doesn't afraid of anything.

lemmy.world

Choosing Samus in here at or was an odd choice when you are trying to make a point

2

Right over my head. Lol I've seen this meme for years and it didn't occur to me that they were making fun of the original observation.

Could have at least made one of them Master Chief for legit armor and bigger contrast

This guy in the image is almost as ridiculous as the woman: he’s highly visible and mostly protects shoulders and head.

The joke is that both of these pictures are the same video game character. They're both Samus from the Metroid series.

You can make that! it would send a meaningful and unironic message, unlike this meme.
