AND that's the problem with "safety" tech. It doesn't act as an assistant it acts as a nanny. A nanny that makes mistakes. Sometimes harmless, sometimes irritating, and sometimes dangerous. Each driver should be allowed to decide what level of assistance they need/want without being forced or shamed about it. If we can't trust drivers to drive then maybe we shouldn't have cars and should redirect resources to public transportation infrastructure instead. (Personally I'm very on board with the latter.)

This is cherry picked as fuck. They'd rather call their voters stupid (they do it regularly) then admit they are losing them. Obviously conservatives voted wrong because they were tricked by their feeble dumb brains not because Mayor Mamdani had a better platform.

I pay attention to a lot of off the wall information sources but unfortunately people tend to ignore me. (For example I heard about this mystery illness in China in December 2019 - but you know I was just being an alarmist.) I regularly mention topics and will be blown off by my friends but frustratingly a year or two later Jon Oliver will do a special on that very subject and the same people will suddenly care about it and excitedly explain it to me. Because now they know all about it and are interested. And don't mistake me. I'm glad Jon Oliver is making some of these topics mainstream but it's endlessly infuriating that it takes an HBO funded comedian to allow the people around me to open their minds enough to talk about the topics I care about. Even if they never acknowledge these things have been my special interests for-fucking-ever.

Yes but never forget they aren't above building profiles on people and selling them. The US government regularly buys these sort of data packages as a loophole to bypass constitutional protections against search and seizures.

I'd argue below. They are chosen to be empty veasels by their donors. It's why if they are truly challenged by someone playing outside the establishment rules they trip over themselves. Why they refuse to debate. The appearance of cleverness and spectacle of policy fights are just theater. A play written by their patrons and performed to entertain us. The fact that so many of them litterally die in office while being wheeled around like meat puppets is proof of it.

What gets me with these posts is the unnecessary gendering of universal human behaviors THAT EVERYONE REGARDLESS OF GENDER DOES. Do we think moms are feeding babies in their nice work blouses? Women are doing crafts in beautiful sundresses? When I work on my car I promise I'm not doing it in my nice clothes. Life isn't Instagram. Some people are just determined to see half the human species as not fully fleshed out people who do the exact same things they do.

Or those puzzles that need to be solved through audio clues but closed captions aren't available. (Don't get me wrong subtitles are great but there is still a lot missing without cc - sadly most games don't have them but it should be the standard.)

Not just myst. Imagine spending days trying solve a puzzle, convinced you must be missing something. And when you finally get frustrated enough to look up the solution online you read something infuriating like "listen to your walking sounds, you are on the right path when you hear yourself walking on gravel" or "the portal is random, listen for the one that has music coming out of it."

That's not free time. That's decompression time. Free time is time when you are well rested, all your needs are met, obligations fullfilled, AND you have unencumbered time to persue a passion or intellectual persuit. The rich have free time, the rest of us just take breathers from our responsibilities from time to time.
