Last election he said if he wasn't elected then we would be at war with Iran, gas prices would skyrocket, groceries would be unaffordable, and masked police would be patrolling the streets.

He literally projected exactly what he ended up doing, as is tradition.

Two political parties are supposed to work together for the benefit of everyone, the second a politician tries to divide the country they need to be jailed, or at the very least removed from politics. There is no place for this toxicity in a prosperous country.

He only won the popular vote once. Our election system is fucking stupid.

It's more like a handful of decisive districts voted for him. Half consistently voted against him.

Yeah well half consistently voted for him, our country has a serious fucking problem and it starts with the people who live in it.

3

The higher prices are directly from his tariffs and war and people should know that. Last time, however, prices were not Biden's fault and economy had recovered better than most places, but the people wrongly blamed Dems as they were instructed to and ignored all the warnings. One relief check went out during his time and two from orange, if you want to try that nonsense. They won't really care though or understand this, and mindlessly swing back and forth, other than the tribal ones that stick with maga regardless of the damage, and they're proud to pay more and all the suffering too!

One of my teachers in a humanities related field said she had a dream where people were running through the street and making tons of noise at like 2 am that woke her up, and they were just screaming “HE’S DEAD! HE’S DEAD!!”

So that’s how people in the humanities are doing, if anyone was curious.

Nah, man, ain't nothing worth relapsing. My brother is a drunk, and has never tried to seriously get sober to my knowledge. If he ever did, I wouldn't encourage him to drink under any circumstances. It's a slippery slope for people who have a problem with alcohol.

I think every option other than Trump is better than him simply because the popular mandate can't be had by a freak like Miller, it can't be had by a rizzless baffoon like Vance, a stuffy devil in a suit like Vought, a sniveling gremlin pedophile like Lutnick, or a out and about Jewish Supremacist like Kushner. The only person I worry about being in charge is Tucker Carlson. Given how the world only ever seems to get worse, I think this would be the end result. Most of my predictions are true by imaging the worst possible scenario. The only upsides to him is that he's made a lot of enemies, but I think he's demonstrated his ability to lie his way into power and I don't think that would be a saving grace for us at all, we'd probably be fucked, and he's definitely smart enough and charismatic enough to achieve most of his white supremacist goals. The best case scenario is Trump having a stroke while complaining about Tucker being a traitor.

4

I understand the argument, but I'm not sure if this circus of wacky sock puppets isn't primarily meant to distract us from the things that really matter right now, because we get so worked up every day over the nonsense coming out of the current administration.

Someone asked, “Why do some British people not like Trump?” An articulate and witty writer wrote the following response: “A few things spring to mind. Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem. For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace. So, the stark contrast does throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief. Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty, or even faintly amusing – not once, ever. I do not say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility – for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman. But with Trump, it is a fact. He does not even seem to understand what a joke is – his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty. Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers. And scarily, he does not just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and automatic nastiness. There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance, or depth. It is all surface. Some might see this as refreshingly upfront. Well, we do not. We see it as having no inner world, no soul. And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that. He is not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat. He is more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege. And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully and racist. That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead. There are unspoken rules to this stuff – the Queensberry rules of basic decency – and he breaks them all. He punches downwards – which a gentleman should, would, could never do – and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless – and he kicks them when they are down. So, the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a few of us– of look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that: You do not need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man. This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty hard to miss. After all, it is impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum. God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid. In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws – he would make a Trump. And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumps of hair and scream in anguish: ‘My God… what… have… I… created? If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set.

Why is the part about Obama cut out?

"For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace – all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed. So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief."

And this sentence you use:

"And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully and racist. "

Why did you add "and racist" to that? He never said that.

And this:

"– perhaps a few of us–"

should be "perhaps a third"

Then, after "given that" there should be two points, the first of which your completely left out. Plus, you also left this entire sentence out: "He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart."

The piece was good enough without being altered, especially if you don't tell people you're editing it. Explain why you did this, please.

Also, please add paragraphs. ;)

Source or if you want the -real- source, I think it's somewhere on facebook or twitter, but I prefer not looking for those and I don't have accounts for either of those anyway.

Edit, found the article that links to the twitter posts, if anyone wants to give them clicks.

23
Dozzi92reply

I like to imagine Trump's behavior has opened the door to sweeping changes across the board. I feel like administrations opted for smaller, less impactful in the near term changes, and Trump, to his very limited credit, made sweeping changes rapidly. So let's see that in the other direction. He's had SCOTUS support some of his orders, so let's use them as examples for changes in the opposite direction.

Then let's close all the loopholes.

6

Even in the ideal liberal world where Republicans show up and take advantage of loopholes, and then Democrats take power and patch them all, fundamentally this allows a ratcheting effect if Democrats only ever fix and never utilize the power themselves. I'd like to see a truth and reconciliation period similar to South Africa where we take a hard look at ourselves as a nation and address the bigotry that leads us to become such a pariah, both to each other and globally. We can then address the shared goals of bringing back American jobs from a standpoint of honesty at what took them in the first place, and many of the other things that supposedly fueled the collapse of our moral framework. Unfortunately I don't see a world where any party leaders would engage in this behavior, because moving on is all their donors ever want to do. You don't need to dig for long to find billionaires meddling, and their favorite time to meddle is in democratic primaries, something the leadership very much wants them to keep doing.

the odds of democrats sweeping the upcoming senate elections, including every single one of the twenty-two republican-held seats, is as close to zero as you can get without actually being zero.

then on top of that, you have 'unreliable' ""democrats"" holding office which you can't count on to vote with their party of record.

so the net chance of the upcoming senate session being able to override a veto is zero. not gonna happen. hell, the democrats would be extremely lucky to hit 60 seats.

over on the house side, democrats might get a 5-10 seat advantage, they'll never get the veto-proof majority there either. way too much rigging of the vote and maps by republicants for that.

Agreed. People need to accept that the nation must fall before we, as people, can rise again. I do not know what the big deal is with moving on from something that isn't working for anyone. It isn't working for anyone except a handful of people and the entire world is so exhausted of the US.

What's even more shocking to me is that we have not yet even come to terms with the reality that we are four distinct regions and each region is preventing the other from succeeding in their own way. Northeast, Texas through Florida, the west and the mid-west. It's beyond obvious we are four different countries. Most land masses this size have much smaller countries and ours is simply unmanageable.

It will never recover. It can only become something else.

-3

I don't think burning is inherently necessary, that it means the complete destruction of the country, or that splitting is wise. I'm in the camp of we need to prosecute and repair what's broken.

4

The nation doesn't have to fall. The Empire does. The American Empire needs to realize its over, and pull back. Its current process of trying to exert its will by controlling the fossil fuels needs to cease. The Russian embargo, Venezuela, The Straight of Hormuz are all plays at controlling the oil market. Its the last attempt at keeping power, and it will fail.

Someone who can trace their history back to another country can be classed as a product of immigration. That is what immigrants are.

You can say "but he was born here" but that means nothing if you're rascist like the GOP and hasn't stopped ICE deporting people who were born in the US and are citizens - they just happened to be non-white. Trump grandfather came over in the 1880s. He is of immigrant stock - he probably has less of a claim to being American than many other people on the continent . You might not want to believe it, or claim 14th amendment (which is fair, from a US legal perspective) but technically, every single white person is a product of immigration. Black, Latino or Asian too - it's not just white folks.

Trump is just closer to being an immigrant than many others - you could call him a 3rd gen immigrant. That is how he would be classed if he wasn't white.

I hope I'm getting across the point that most people in the world are of immigrant stock at some point or another and so it's really a non-argument that has deep-rooted rascist undertones whilst not taking into consideration history.

A "product of immigration?" Sure. An immigrant? No. That's simply incorrect. An immigrant is someone who migrates to another country. Someone who was born and lived in the same country their entire lives is in no way, shape, or form, an immigrant.

Peaceful protest won't stop them from staying in power. We, as a people, have had all the warning for what's coming, and yet I don't know of anyone suggesting a realistic, practical plan to combat the theft of power that's going to take place.

Any Federal politician who actually cares should be giving public statements about what responses will occur if election results are denied at various levels, should be inviting international observation, should be responding to voter expungement, should prepare responses in case of ICE intervention at polling places, etc.

And everyday people... we should be like the French: angry, motivated, and ready to take the kids gloves off. People should be prepared to be arrested, prepared to go on strike, and prepared to be disruptive.

If any offices are stolen, there should be fires and barricades.

Republicans don't need to "seize power", nor do they want to (in my opinion).

Democrats will win, the Republicans count on it. They're a tag team. One is the heel, the other is the face.

Answer me this... if the Democrats are truly "the good guys" why can't they ever roll back Republican changes? Every term, they can't manage to reverse the vast majority of Republican tax cuts (for one example).

Amazon, Tesla, JP Morgan, et al always coincidentally gets what they want.

Our political system is fundamentally deceptive and has been corporate owned for decades.

Re the French, they are in a country that's smaller than one US state with four times the population density. Getting thousands together is much, much more difficult, and it won't happen in most of the country, just key cities (like NYC and LA).

All of this talk of revolution is what the Democrats are for. They're a release valve. The Republicans won't seize power and bite the hand that feeds them, there's enough money for bOtH sIdEs to get rich, win or lose, they both get a billion dollars an election.

They won't get that money so easily if there are no elections. It's a massive money laundering scheme, and they don't even have to hide it.

We'll see in a couple weeks.

2

There's no need to riot in some rural shithole with 30 people. The big cities are all that matters, that's where the money is, where it hurts. That is not an excuse not to riot.

I get it, it's harder to meet up for a big riot in NYC, when living in bumfuck nowhere, but the people in those dense areas should already be more than enough, if they commit. The ones in the nowheres of the country can show their dissent other ways, still, or find a closer riot nearby.

2

Peaceful shutdown, if enough do it in the cities, enough to bring the wheels of production to a halt and sustained for a week or two (which is hardly enough time to starve or be evicted) will have the Houses running for impeachment so fast it might set a new benchmark on what is the highest achievable speed.

1

And the response from his election opponent from two years ago is, "Harris Warns America Will Burn if Democrats Lost This Election"

3

Probably because that asshat Vought is laying plans to deny Democrats a win. And like his affiliate said, it will be bloodless if the Democrats allow it.

Voting asshat conservatives out means Vought just says "no" and then stuff may get very spicy.

16

Vought is the epitome of the hated "deep state". The guy is a lifelong bureaucract pulling the strings from behind the scenes. Most Americans don't even know OMB exists.

8

Love how he constantly threatens us and the media and everyone else are like "make sure you guys vote MAGA so he doesn't abuse us no more!" So many weak ass bootlickers.

20

"Yes me lord, you deserve 1/3 of our grain and our women me lord. I only live to serve." These types have been around a long time, at least as long as religion took on the form of demigods' blessings for loyalty, but probably much longer. It's ironic that it's the people who grandstand about their guns being taken away by liberals but do nothing in the face of actual tyranny, but I think deep down we always knew that. They would even give up their guns to the right conman, or really just anyone who promised to also take the guns of those who look different than them (if they thought they had them).

Globalist left-wing have treasonously imported millions and millions of third world migrants who are totally incompatible with the West, and they are incompatible with Western values. They despise everything about France, and they’re destroying that country, and we’re not going to let that happen to this country,” Trump said during his speech. Despite interruptions by protesters, the crowd broke into applause at Trump’s words.

Which is ridiculous mainly because:

  1. Rioting has always been France's national past time, even when they stormed the Bastille last weekend, that's tradition at this point.

  2. Republicans want everyone to forget they've spent the last 25 years shitting on France already. How is it burning down now if it's been burnt down for a generation? No one has talked more shit about France than American conservatives... Now they suddenly love France?

"The browns are coming to rape your women, steal your hard-earned consumer goods, beat you to death, and burn everything down."

That's the message that resonates the most with Republican voters. It's galvanizing and makes them "circle the wagons" emotionally, so it's no wonder that they use it again and again and again. According to Fox, NYC, Chicago, and LA have all been burned to the ground at least three times each in the last decade. And they've been pointing to Europe as a racist's cautionary tale for at least as long.

13

Yeah, but they've spent literally 25 years shitting on France because they asked for evidence after 9/11...

It's been beat deep into Republican voters heads that France is bad and they don't like France. They fucking renamed French fries, "freedom fries" never caught on, but you still get looks/comments if you don't only say "fries" when ordering them.

It's not like one cognitive dissonance is enough to wake them up, but this is a complete 180 on a main talking point out of nowhere, I can't think of a single good thing trump has ever said about France.

Republican voters won't change their views over this stuff, but when faced with uncomfortable truths like this, their default is to check out of the conversation. This won't motivate them to vote to save the French, this will make them tune out to any future political messaging, and not vote.

They'll just pretend there isn't an election rather than have to use critical thinking to try and justify it

Burned to the ground the same number of times Trump has completely obliterated Iran's nuclear program.

2

What exactly are these "Western values", Donnie? Seems to me they largely involve rapacious cunts such as him stomping on the faces of the masses, taking all their wealth and running.

You mean more than it is now? They'll build more concentration camps for brown people?

4

In the conservative mindset, there is no room for empathy or justice, only order. And people in camps is orderly, provided it's other demographics put there by an authority.

11

It'll fly up into the air and land at the end of 'publican'

1

They're desperate in NYS. Offering to ignore income tax before 50k and 100k and increase shale drilling and fracking. What worries me is these dumb boomers will fall for it.

7

That's hot. I'm jealous. Just think of all the super neato crafts you could do!!

2

no no. let me fix this. "America will burn republicans when they lose". and I can't wait to smell the burning rotten flesh of these nazi fucks.

7

Did he rename himself America? Because I’d love to see him literally lit up on fire.

5

He's going to nuke San Diego. He even said it a couple of times in public.

4

I'd bet money he tries to hit the big red button daily so they set up a fake one and just makeup a country so he thinks he actually won and forgets the whole thing a few hours later.

1

Fine, then burn it. If he thinks his right wingers will get out of such a thing unscathed he is in for a big surprise. Dont threaten us with a good time.

3

It's worth is the equivalent of a toddler saying all dogs will turn in their owners if school is allowed to open on Monday.

piefed.social

If by America he means the WH, then yeah. When he decides to ignore the election results and effectively rule over as a king, he will burn in hell and we will put him there.

3

we will put him there

No you won’t, you’ll put up with whatever he does and find excuses for why you can’t act on it.

1

Sad to say, the vast majority of Americans won't turn off Hulu and get off their asses.

0

Your wealth will burn when we strip it from you and distribute it to those in need.

2

As if anyone could afford the gasoline to start that...

Wait, did he just suggest that fuel prices would drop?

2

I read that as Trump warns America will burn Republicans.

-1

Will be so happy to one day- wake up and not have to smell his fucking diaper. Praying that day comes soon.
