My phone is brand spanking new and probably considered to be a flagship device, but the vibrate is pitifully weak where I often don't notice my phone going off while wearing it in my own damn pocket.
In general though, I've always had my ringer on while at home in case I set my phone down and need to know someone called. In public I leave it off generally.
I have it set to maximum vibration intensity. I've heard others complain about the same issue. The vibration motor is just shit. It's a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.
At some point the the Eccleston/Tennent run I had just the sound of the TARDIS landing as my ringtone. When it would go off in a crowd it was a great was to spot my fellow geeks.
Funny to see how everyone here tries to have music and stuff that's fun and is pleasant to those around them then you have me who has plus boy to encourage me to respond before my ring tone gets to the horny bit
That's hilarious, I have that too, nice taste. Like the Steel Samurai theme or the ringtone version from Phoenix's phone? ace attorney has such excellent music
My current one is Corridors of Time from Chrono Trigger.
I know someone who has Phoenix Wright's ringtone as their own ringtone, and hearing it go off for the first time felt like a shock, being a huge Ace Attorney fan lmao
Anything I use as a ringtone will cause me to hate it, so I use the Homing grenade sound from Borderlands 2. Looking back on that decision, there are more useful sounds to be instinctually aware of, but boy do I bolt awake when a random bandit has a homing grenade.
My notification sounds are the skill level up sound from Borderlands 2 and the Void Reaver denonation sound from Risk of Rain 2 for important things. I've also used the notification sound and train whistle from Rollercoaster Tycoon.
If I were to change my ringtone today, I'd probably go with Run! from Deep Rock Galactic, or one of the battle themes from FTL. Maybe the baseline from a Death by Glamour cover, but I'd fear I'd come to hate that sound, so maybe not.
One of the Samsung default ones. It's apparently called "Space Bell". My phone is basically always on vibrate though, so it really doesn't matter much.
Good choice. I really enjoyed both top gun movies. I actually went to see top gun maverick twice because the first time was fantastic and i just had to see it again. I wasnt dissappointed either.
Right now it is a .mid file of A-ha's Take On Me. I plan to change it up soon though. I always use .mid files because they sound classic. The soundfonts, the lack of sustain, everything.
I have a ringer that starts at a highish frequency and then with each ring drops lower. I find the changing frequency helps me pick it out from background noise.
Before I switched from conventional communication, my ringtone for the longest time was the unsuspecting sound of a baby crying, which once served as an April Fool's joke but also something that predated and went longer than that. Now that conventional phones have tried to make it more and more difficult to actually get a custom ringtone, I don't know what the future holds but know the change I made gives me my best chances of having a ringtone tradition.
I have to change mine semi-regularly because after a year or so I'll start thinking i hear my phone ring while it isn't. Currently it's the Nokia 3310 Badinerie ringtone
I used to have cheerful tunes for ring tones but then all my old relatives died in a row like flies and "I don't feel like dancing" felt really out of place. Beth Ditto has stuck with me since then.
I know it's goofy, but it's some sort of chip tune song that played in the background of an app patcher program that I used forever ago to install some pirated game or app or something.
I have no idea what the song is called and it doesn't seem to exist on the Internet. It's just on my phone as an .MP3 file (and on my computer within a sketchy program called patch.exe). Dunno why I drifted to it.
My text notification tone is the notification sound from RollerCoaster Tycoon 1/2 (ex: "3 peeps have drowned" popup). It works well.
I clip portions of music that I make in GarageBand on my phone for my ringtones. Right now it’s a song called Cave In. That or a monophonic version of Grande Valse.
Hearthstone theme song. Hasn't changed in like 7 years. Maybe some day, but I'm conditioned to it now. Id probably never answer it if it made a different ring. Not that I ever answer it now.
My notifications jingle (for the rare occasions I turn on notifications) is the Superintendent's turn-on sound from Halo 3: ODST. (The first two seconds here.) My ringtone is some weeb shit.
I like the kind of ringtones that the people who know it know it and to everyone else it's just a nice ringtone. I've had an elevator version of the Mass Effect theme, and also the intro song from Monsters Inc .
My general ringtone is a section from Henry Mancini's Pink Panther theme. For family and friends I use Leo Kottke's guitar version of Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring.
Bold of you to assume my phone hasn't been on vibrate for the last 15 years.
I think I heard it once in the past ten years. I was very confused by this sound.
This is the way
This is the way
This is the way
It still has a ringtone setting. What are you hiding from us? /s
Who the fuck doesn't leave their phone on silent/vibrate?

In general though, I've always had my ringer on while at home in case I set my phone down and need to know someone called. In public I leave it off generally.
If it's a flagship phone, you should be able to adjust the vibration intensity and cadence. Which phone do you have?
I have it set to maximum vibration intensity. I've heard others complain about the same issue. The vibration motor is just shit. It's a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.
a quick fix could be a smart watch or bracelet
Monkey Island main theme, 1 bit PC speaker version
Monkey Island main theme, but the one from Tales as it's shorter and doesn't take ages to ramp up.
I remember typing out the notes to Monkey Island on my old Nokia in the early 2000s. Took me ages, but it was so worth it :)
I haven't taken my phone off vibrate for 4 years
Mute
brrrrrrrrrrrrrr brrrrrrrrrrrrrr brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
The intro music from the American TV show Knightrider
Don't know, never had it turned on lol
The one from The Expanse (not the theme, the one that all the "phones" in the series have).
I would like a link for that!
The main theme from Laputa: Castle in the Sky. It's been that for the past 7 or more years. May change it to another Ghibli movie theme song.
The Doctor Who theme. Specifically the theme from David Tennents run.
At some point the the Eccleston/Tennent run I had just the sound of the TARDIS landing as my ringtone. When it would go off in a crowd it was a great was to spot my fellow geeks.

Fleetwood Mac, The Chain is the one, true, F1 theme.
Yeah, I'm old... I'm nostalgic... I can't let go.
Iconic theme music I agree. But the new one has some epic vibe and grandeur, I really like it.
Metal gear codec call
This is the way.
Weirdly enough.. Shellshock - 8-bit (Victory Tune)
Even though my phone's on vibrate all the time. Lol.
Funny to see how everyone here tries to have music and stuff that's fun and is pleasant to those around them then you have me who has plus boy to encourage me to respond before my ring tone gets to the horny bit
The Steel Samurai ringtone from Ace Attorney. I don't know why I love it so much.

Bojack horseman intro. Just perfect.

But a version without the sound effects. Yes, it's amazing.
Mine is always on silent
Tetris.
Instantly recognisable, loud enough to hear, raises a smile from strangers on the bus.
Professer Professorson's ringtone from Community. It's the 'suspense sound' Dun Dun DUUNNN!
It's a fantastic ringtone when it goes off at odd times. Like during a bad guys lecture in D&D.
Daybreak and I only hear it if I have my AirPods in when my phone rings.
I hope you do the little finger wag like Troy does when Abed hums it every time it plays
Every time. I get a lot of weird looks in public.
Anything I use as a ringtone will cause me to hate it, so I use the Homing grenade sound from Borderlands 2. Looking back on that decision, there are more useful sounds to be instinctually aware of, but boy do I bolt awake when a random bandit has a homing grenade.

See, I have my alarm sound to be different from my ringtone, otherwise I'd end up hating my ringtone too

Good choice. I really enjoyed both top gun movies. I actually went to see top gun maverick twice because the first time was fantastic and i just had to see it again. I wasnt dissappointed either.
It's a mashup someone made of Bill Cosby doing that scat singing nonsense thing he did over the music tracks from Eminem's "Without Me".

Go Cubs Go
Or
Jurassic Park hold music.
Default Android ringtone for calls.
However my signal/whatsapp message tone is Sergeant Doakes from Dexter saying "Surprise Motherfucker!", which occationally turns some heads in public.
I have a ringer that starts at a highish frequency and then with each ring drops lower. I find the changing frequency helps me pick it out from background noise.

A trimmed down instrumental version of "Beneath the Mask" from Persona 5. I found the song to have a really nice vibe to it.
I trimmed down Glimpse of a Memory from Persona 4 Golden as my ringtone. Honestly it sounds very close to a normal ringtone.
The Ballad of Serenity.
"GTA V Franklin ringtone"
https://youtu.be/5mQVljB7JGw?si=phV8TM7b9YHgBlBd always happy to hear the song and always just a little anxious to hear it because the actual calls always mean something serious.
I used to have cheerful tunes for ring tones but then all my old relatives died in a row like flies and "I don't feel like dancing" felt really out of place. Beth Ditto has stuck with me since then.
"beep beep beep beep" -leonard nemoy
