Nuclear Assault - Critical Mass
Gotta love the addictive AF main riff! Total classic, legendary track!

More Motorhead! Linked is a song from the album they first recorded, however didn't release until a bit later in their career. Captures the vibe of old Motorhead before they developed the sound we all know and love. I actually really like this side to Motorhead, even with its stripped back nature and shitty production. Enjoy! 🤘
Since getting into Pest Control, today I decided to do some digging into the band members' backgrounds. The majority of the band were part of this band beforehand so I decided to check them out. It is VERY primitive, pretty much demo quality, however I found it pretty enjoyable. Couldn't find any of their stuff on any streaming platforms. It seems they pretty much only exist on Bandcamp. Unsurprising, considering the band only lasted two years before disbanding. However, the band offers free downloads of ALL their material in lossless quality over there, which is pretty neat. Since they split, any contributions on Bandcamp or purchases of merch, go straight to this charity: https://www.blackmindsmatteruk.com/ - also pretty neat. Enjoy this hidden gem \m/ . And as mentioned, no streaming link for this one, just Bandcamp.

NOT OC, I ain't owning up to this shit. Maybe c/metalshitposts should exist... I'll stop now I promise. Was looking at memes and was surprised to come across Charlie.

I CANNOT get enough of Pentagram recently. The past few months they have been one of my top artists. Even bought Relentless on vinyl.
This post is a tad unusual from me, as it would not normally be my style. But I find this song so goddamn GORGEOUS. The beautiful main riff to this song has been stuck in my head all day, without showing any signs of leaving. I could've also posted this in [email protected] or even in a hard rock community (if that even exists? Lmk...) but I feel it has enough doom in it. It is one of Pentagram's really old songs from way back in the 70s, so it totally carries that vibe.
So yeah. Not sure why I picked this over the million other amazing Pentagram songs, especially those with either more doom influence or that are more my style. Well... Probably because it's stuck in my head ( >д<) . Ahh well, enjoy regardless. 🤘
Just an update for you all, regarding both of my moderated communities.
Currently I aim to keep the community alive and uphold my current moderation duties. You will still see uploads from me if I find anything particularly interesting that I would like to share. That being said I will not be keeping a strict schedule of posting, meaning there may be times you might not hear from me. I will still aim to react to and engage with all content posted here from now on. If the community sees an increase in engagement further down the line, then I may resume my regular (heh) posting.
I really appreciate all those who have posted and/or commented on posts. You all have helped shape this place into something pretty neat, a nice little corner of the internet, if you will. I especially appreciate the help of @[email protected] who provided unfaltering support over the past year or so, going as far as to showing me up in the process ;) .
I hope this place will continue to grow steadily over time, and as I've mentioned, I'm not going anywhere, just taking a break from regular posting. I apologise to those who enjoy the regular contributions, the motivation to encourage engagement just isn't there any more. Thanks for a couple great years of top-tier metal and discussions!
And wipe that smirk off your face, I ain't retirin'! This madman ain't going anywhere! I'll see you wherever there's many 0s being played in fast succession! 🤘

Different kind of post today.
I'm looking for you guys' expert opinion on something. I'm currently trying to categorise my mammoth thrash playlist into sub-subgenres. I'm stuck with Lich King though. I can't decide if it is crossover or just straight up thrash. For reference, I put Gama Bomb under crossover (might be helpful to know, since Lich King is pretty much the American Gama Bomb) then again I'm now second guessing that decision too. What do you guys think?
Ta.
This is some of the fastest crossover I think I've ever heard, no jokes. I challenge you to find something faster and comment it here/make a post. I wanna know if anything can top this in terms of sheer speed and aggression.

I have to say this completely took me by surprise! It's fucking ferocious with a hefty wad of black and death metal in the mix this time round. Gone is the snooze-fest of melo-thrash (still melodic, though this time not in a boring way). Features nasty blast beats, growls and plenty of tremolo picking! One thing that this album absolutely nails, is the right balance to make the songs both melodic, catchy and listenable, whilst containing enough meat to properly sink your teeth into. No more watered down thrash! Other old-school thrashers should take notes. This, boys and girls, is how it's done! They've truly managed to keep things fresh and interesting, without losing their charm and aggression. In fact, this may be one of Testament's heaviest releases of all time. You heard me.
Linked is the opening track from the album, my favourite so far. This is pretty much a straight up blackened thrash track.
Now a modern thrash album from an OG outfit wouldn't be complete without its potential let downs. It has to be said, despite a huge step up in quality, there are still a couple... Notably, it still doesn't quite live up to the classics in terms of quality, however, at this point, this is a given. Secondly, I'm still of the opinion that (with a few exceptions, looking at you, Years of Decay) ballads have no place on thrash records. I was not a fan of Meant to Be at all.
Trust me, you'll want to hear the entire LP! Enjoy! 🤘
And something to contrast the modern, fun, groovy crossover: early blackened thrash! Though early Onslaught did still contain its fair share of hardcore punk, if you ask me.

Since his initial recommendation of Pest Control, I've really grown to dig them. Yesterday I began listening to their discography properly. Probably gonna explore them along side the over crossover bands getting recommended here recently. Continue the crossover streak! Here is a song off their 2020 demo. Lovely chunky riffs, and the usual excellent female vocals carry the perfect amount of raw emotion.

This song features excellent lead guitar work, and is filled with mini solos throughout, but don't forget the addictive melody.
