Have we as a society not yet learned our lesson to not let the internet name things?

Because if we haven’t, my submission for your consideration is Baby McBabyface.

Alternatives for if you have more kids:

  • Kiddy McKidface
  • Sonny McSonface
  • Daughtery McDaughterface
  • Progenency McProgenencyface

Please just make sure not to go too crazy with "unique" names or unusual spelling of a name. It causes a lot of issues and inconvenience for the offspring later in life. Saying this as someone who has a common name but spelled in an unconventional way... it's such a headache, and a whole lot of "we can't locate your file" because someone wasn't listening to me when I spelled out my first name.

Whatever month they were conceived in. When they ask why it's not the month they were born in, you can tell them "we liked how it sounded" until they're old enough for the truth to be a tempting punishment. Also, congratulations.

This but you use the revolutionary calendar. Yes, Thermidor is a beautiful name.

3

Then Mars/Mara it is!

You could also go with Aquamarine for the birthstone, which means seawater, lol.

Daimler-Benz DB 605 35.7L V12 supercharged inverted inline engine

Been watching Mat Armstrong and that boat?

Edit: Actually I think his was from after the DB -> MB rename, so it's a Mercedes-Benz MB 605 or whatever the exact number was. A pair of giant V12 diesels anyway.

2

Yeah I meant the gasoline powered engines used in the BF-109 and BF-110 lol.

Hence the inverted V12. They flipped the engine to make it easier to service on the ground.

Okay that has to be a troll, right? I'm starting to have trouble telling some days...

Also post mentions similarity to Jessica Simpson, but not the alliteration? Blessica Blimpson

Her daughter would get her fathers last name probably so that doesn't pass over but still weird

2

Play through all 4 quest lines in Fire Emblem Three Houses and name your kid after your favorite character

1

I’m definitely down with this. I genuinely pitched Danger Russ but couldn’t get it past the boss.

12

How about "Nine Ten"?

Seriously though, my firstborn got a rather specific name which was (and is) totally fine - it just set us up for some serious brain racking when it came time to come up with another name that wasn't comparatively boring.

I'd suggest something that:

  • you can spell when you hear it
  • you can pronounce when you read it
  • in all the languages that you care about

That narrows things down quite a bit, I've found. It also makes life so much easier for the kid bearing it.

7

You'd need 8 siblings for Seven then, for Star Trek reasons

4

My goddaughter was going to be a Seven if she had been male, but she adopted the name as a teen anyways 😂🤷🏻‍♀️💜

4

Here are some baby names I've thought of but probably won't use:

  • Kareem
  • Hayaat
  • Zain/Zainab
  • Reem
  • Idris
  • Ilyas
  • Yazin
  • Younus
  • Safa
  • Marwa
  • Sadiq
  • Talib
  • Ja'far

I tried to think of any name I could that hopefully isn't a joke, kinda old fashioned enough to get you picked on for in school, and/or way out there for pronunciation or spelling. No clue where you are, though, so this could be a list of names not to choose.

2

I personally only chose it because it's a cool sounding name that I like. I also doubt any sane person will make any unsavory connections, I'd hope.

1

I was gonna say Franz and maybe Waldo as well, but that would absolutely get you picked on. So if that doesn't answer the question, I don't know what will.

2

So, my culture places a lot of emphasis on names because we believe that names effect the destiny of the named. So we usually create names that we think will bless our children in their future. Examples: Legacy, Radiance, Kiah (Strength), ect. If the name that has a good meaning does not sound like a name then we often make it a secret name and use a nickname based on it for their legal name. Example; if secret name is Malik (Monarch) legal name is Mal.

4

Speaking of names not to name your child, I went to middle school with a boy named Baby. I hope they would decline that over there.

4

Aurangzeb

You can say anything else about Mughal emperors, but their full names just roll smoothly

2

Okay, real suggestions.

Think about personal values that you and your wife hold dear. Something that you both know will never change, something you want to teach your child as they grow older. Something precious.

Think about a hero--real or fictional, famous or personal--who embodies those qualities. Name your kid after that person.

I like names that are uncommon enough to not be boring but not too out there. Also having a cool like origin/meaning is nice. Examples with meaning/origin and prominent figures sharing the name included:

Silas: Greek/Latin meaning Forest or "of the Forest" Silas Deane, founder of the Methodist Church

Wesley: Old English meaning west meadow Wesley Moore, current Governor of Maryland

August: Latin (Augustus) meaning magnificent Augustus Caesar, First Princeps of the Roman Empire

Audrey: Old English meaning noble strength Audrey Hepburn, American Actress

Evelyn: English and French (Aveline) meaning hazelnut Evelyn Waugh, English Novelist/Satirist

Florence: Latin meaning blossoming/flourishing. Florence Nightingale, Pioneer in the Medical Field

Audrey Hepburn, American Actress

sorry but she grew up in Velp so we claim her as dutch.

1

My old boss had a dog named "deeohgee", literally dog spelled out. He also had a daughter named "Katie", which was him compromising with the mother as he wanted to name her "Ka'idee" (kid spelled out....).

8

If a boy? Go simple, pick a name like Richard/Robert, that way they have a shortened name to pick from (Rob, Bob/ Rick, Dick) or Leslie

Girl? Pick something crunchy with some history to it, Peony or Persephone or Viola Or Leslie

2

I'm a big fan of the Beatles, so I've always been partial to the name "Vera" for a girl; named for the grandchild mentioned in "When I'm 64."

For a boy, "Rocky" the raccoon, or the slightly less ridiculous "John" who you could call "Jojo" before they leave they grow up and leave for California

If I have kids (doubtful) I would probably use a name from Trek. Some of my favorite names:

  • Jadzia
  • Kira
  • Geordi
  • Solais/Riva
  • Dal
  • Chakotay

Although I like the name Miles, I don't want to subject my child to a lifetime of suffering

5

Jadzia

Poland fact: Jadzia is a real Polish name, diminutive of Jadwiga. It's of course pronounced absolutely different than Star Trek name which in Polish would be spelled something like "Dżadzija"

2
  • Nog
  • T'im
  • Kahless the Unforgettable
  • Worf, Son of Mogh (regardless of the father's actual name
  • Tuvix (which provides a golden opportunity to explain to the child that they are only alive due to the "deaths" of the two beings who fused to form them)
  • Borg Queen

Boy: Lemmy Girl: Lemmi Edit:crap just saw someone else beat me to this.

Boy: Gaylord Perry Jr.
Puppy: Butters.

Bro it's like 1:30am and the pain I had to endure trying not to bellow in laughter and wake up the whole house was immeasurable

2

Mirabelle (Mira) is a cute girl's name, and I think Basil is a really cute boy's name, but they'd get swirlies for sure at school, so probably something banal like Trent.

Bruh, that’s some straight up heresy. Do you even praise The Emperor?

(He’s a character from Warhammer 40K.)

2

Oh. I know a bit of 40k stuff but I played Tyranids because that was the only bit of 40k that even remotely spoke to me and that was a long time ago now.

I can’t decide whether this sounds like a hair trimmer or something you rub on your face before you go to bed.

2

If you're serious, it could be a good idea to state which country/part of the world you're in.

3

We’re from Australasia but don’t want to limit it to just the Steves and Sarahs (no offence Steve or Sarah).

3
sopuli.xyz

A more serious suggestion: look up the top 100 popular boy's/girl's names in your country and pick one from spot 50-100. That way it will be familiar to most people, but they won't share their name with three other kids in class.

3

I like the name Norbert. Old Germanic name meaning "bright north"; really not that common any more unfortunately.

2

Brother of the Unlost. Witness to the End Times.

Or maybe something culturally meaningful to your family, idk I'm bad at naming things.

3

I love Morgana, to the point I convinced the wife to use it if we had a girl (we didn't).

I read somewhere long ago of a study that concluded that difficult names (either writing or pronouncing) caused problems for kids early on, so I had that in mind when chosing names, I also opted out of a middle name (I don't know single person who doesn't have one over here other than my kid) because my last name is kinda hard and long already.

Hope this helps choosing something. And congratulations! Whatever you go with, love is the important part, the name is just a tag.

2

Pop. And tell them that’s the sound they made coming out.

Keep a serious face when you do it.

I think I read somewhere that names can open up doors.

So you could choose two paths:

  1. Choose a name that makes their life easier. I suppose these would be names that reflect contemporary idealized identities.
  2. Choose a name that makes their life harder. Fight the system. Prove you can survive even with a name that doesn’t reflect contemporary idealized identities.
2

first name: (boys) Lawrence, Marcus, Anthony, John/Jon(athan), Joe/Joseph, Zak/Zach(ariah; for non abbreviated), Sam(uel)

first name: (girls) Clara, Ainsley, Kelly, Vicky/Victoria, Audrey, Tanya/Tonya (depends on what region y'all are from),

twins: Terra (or Gaia)/Luna

thats all I've got. good luck, future dad.

2

Ainsley is a really inspired choice!

I love Zachariah, Clara, and Samuel as well

2

You can also choose multiple names. In our family we have one name each with the first letter of the parents name. First name got mother side last name reference becaune we got the last name of our father.
I think 4 names is good because its more unusual while still being manageable & gives options as the first name is always hated.

2

I'm partial to the Welsh, Taran for a boy or Bronwyn for a girl.
