Daily Reminder: Thomas Massie is not your ally. He's just another immoral fascist rethuglican
There are no good Republicans.
None. Zip Zilch Zero None Of Them Not A Single Pleasant Person.
They are a revolting corrupt embezzlement ring with literally zero redeeming qualities
Fuck Trump and his spineless boot licking thugs and Fuck Massie and his rose-tinted followers.
Release the Epstein files transparency proposition WITHOUT that gun obsessed bigoted hack's contribution or prosperity.

Whether you like guns or not, making them your entire personality is so cringe.
Honestly, you can say that about most things. If you make your identity any one thing it's cringe. Go experience the world and open your interests to a diverse set.
But other things might not be exclusively used for killing living beings. In the case of the weapons in that image, primarily humans.
Yes, but I don't think that changes the cringe aspect. It changes the unhinged potentially dangerous aspect though.
Uhh what we would these weapons be used secondarily for?
Compensating.
Still killing living beings, but of the animal variety for food. Or, as a hobby to enjoy at the range. That's what mine are for.
If the first round doesn't stop the deer the rest of the clip will I suppose.
Bonus: You don't have to grind the meat up after you dress it.
If they hunt replace deer with boar and your technically wrong, I once met a guy who hunted boars with a Browning Automatic Rifle.
It's a legit problem in some southern states. The feral hog population is destroying crops. I know someone that ranches goats and he says he carries an AR15 with 300BLK with him when he checks on his goats. He also said the hogs have killed enough of his goats that he hasn't made any profit in them in the past couple years. It's a very specific use case, but a real one.
30-40 feral hogs
I once met a guy who hunted geese with a slingshot. That was impressive skill, not impressively stupid.
You're assuming a lot about which tool I've selected for which job, and you're wrong.
Sure.
Only things my guns kill are steel targets and the odd deer when I can get tags
Making "exploring the world" your thing is so cringe. All those insta and tinder profiles with the same travel photos. Fuck off.
I feel like if I explored the world the only photos you'd have of it are random ass birds, weird roadkill, and probably the inside of some Soviet bunker or some shit. I went to the grand canyon some years ago and the only video I took was of a goat at the flintstones thing and a squirrel tweaking out on the side of the cliff.
I did explore the world. This included war zones. I didn't feel like making a selfie with a dead baby on the side of the road, to post it on my tinder profile with the text "I love traveling". Or with someone's head split open by a sniper shot, with the text "I guess we'll eat shoarma tonight #localstreetfood".
"I love exploring the world" basically means "I love to make selfie photo's at tourist attractions to show off I make more money than you, while at the same time not giving a shit about the culture, the people, the history, the country I visit because those poor people are ewww"
Honestly, I can’t see a single reason why someone would “like” guns.
Eh, I grew up doing shooting competitions as a kid. My grandfather was a semi-famous trick shooter back when that was a thing, so it was something I grew up doing.
I hunt too, meat prices are insane right now and a few deer go a long way when frozen or otherwise preserved right, I don't mind having to butcher and dress it myself. I'm not gonna stop eating meat in this lifetime, them animals are way way too tasty.
I like guns, but this photo is cringe to me too. I'm a Fudd in the gun community. Revolvers, lever-action repeaters, and shotguns are all I mess with, and I'd be more than comfortable banning all high capacity guns.
Depends on where you live, how you grew up, and your hobbies.
I realize it’s a foreign concept to some who grew up in an urban/metropolitan area and are otherwise surrounded by concrete, buildings and lots of people.
I grew up with 3000 acres of woods behind my house. Didn’t own them but had unrestricted access. I like guns but despise people like the one in this image.
Engineering is my main draw. That and knowing my sister would be dead today without hers.
About $100k of iron in that pic (assuming the 60/uzi/Thompson are all fully functional and not just replica/semi auto.
I have mine because they have theirs.
And who profits but the gun manufacturers, while net societal safety drops.
I wasn't going to share the story because I felt it too dark. But a coworker years ago told me the first people he would kill in the "shit hits the fan" scenario is his neighbors because they would be the first to ask for help/target him.
The fact that a single nut job is out there thinking this was enough to adjust my stance on owning fire arms.
I keep thinking that USA is just a Vault Tec experiment in human behaviour under constant pressures.
Vault Tec is just a reflection of very real government behavior.
For real, they do all that experimentation out in the open. No vaults required.
Well you may want to look up how gun control came to be a talking point, and why Fred Hampton was viewed as such a threat, he was murdered in his bed, next to his pregnant, sleeping wife (hint: youth breakfast and exercise program).
I do by having a bunch of really cool guns
Gun manufacturers are a part of society, and a very rich part.
The entire world demands guns, and the USA provides. More than the top six suppliers combined (including China and Russia).
Every state in the union is part of the arms industry. Even Hawaii.
Most of the guns used in crimes in Canada and Mexicr were smuggled in from the USA.
A truly moral society wouldn't be providing the weapons that criminals demand.
Go far enough left and keep your guns. Also, blessing Chairman Fred and Comrade Newton.
Only until the revolution though. Then they get taken away again.
Reagan pushed gun control.
Eta https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulford_Act
Wow Reagan was a leftist? Just how far right are you bro?
"Reading comprehension it's above me bro!" 🤓
Relevance? We are talking about "far enough left", just a reminder.
Don't paint revolutions the same. Material conditions are analyzed, policy is formed and applied.
Honestly, that's much lower than I expected. Knowing very little about firearm costs (haven't shot anything since college), I would have guessed probably double that.
Guns are a lot cheaper than you'd expect. An ar-15 is like $500 for a simple build. Most handguns are similar. The ones here are only expensive because they're machine guns
and no braincell in between them, they sold it to buy all those guns.
You'd think they'd be able to afford ammo, then. :)
Are they posing before they are going to do a family school shooting or something? This looks like a photo of white Al Qaida.
I don't understand why they would do this. Like, posing for a Christmas photo, sure. But add murder weapons to it? What is the message? "We're going to kill Christmas", or "baby Jesus you're going to get lead" or something? "Santa is flying through the air with his raindeers and it's open hunting season" or "Christmas time is the purge time, we're going on a murder spree". The last one is the one I got from this photo the most.
That picture is terrifying.
Typical American family portrait. I think they lend those to you at Sears if you forget to bring your own.
Don’t spread misinformation.
No one is getting their family photos at Sears anymore.
We get them at Walmart now, but we have to take them ourselves at a kiosk. Next to the ammo dispenser.
typical white RIGHT wing ammosexul family portrait.
You could probably take them all out with a Glock. I doubt they ever train with them, it’s all show.
Kinda like the people with gun manufacturer stickers on their vehicle. Either cosplay or telling people they're an easy $100 for anyone with a brick. Serious gun owners don't advertise it.
Mom's got her's pointed right at the son she hates
Just noticed that, at least they're practicing trigger discipline.
And the mags are out, very likely all unloaded and chamber checked prior to staging this shot.
To me the scary thing is the idea of giving the uh, seemingly least physically strong person the Uzi.
Its not loaded, but theres a good chance this one is a pre-ban full auto, and those things kind of notoriously kick wildly on full auto if its 45acp or 41ae.
She’s ready in case he gets mouthy.
The pre-1986 ban M60 he's holding and the BAR she has are 50-100K each.
If the FAL is full auto, it wouldn't be that much less expensive.
That's a Thompson, not a BAR.
A BAR would be about the same size as the M60. BAR shoots 30.06 (7.62x63), actually longer rounds than the M60 (7.62x51), usually had a bipod, thing's pretty big.
If she was holding a BAR in that same position, the barrel end and bipod would be on or past the hand of redshirt son behind her.
A Thompson on the other hand is a sub machine gun, 9x19, much closer in overall size to what we'd now call a carbine or short barelled rifle, its roughly M4 sized.
Hard to tell the exact variant but its likely either the WW2 era M1928A1 or M1A1, they simplified and reinforced some bits of the design compared to the old 'Chicago Typewriter' version, for mass wartime production.
ARAB
Id get behind this one if it didnt just come across like shouting at Middle Easterners.
On the other hand, I'd quite happy with adapting the other one to refer to Conservatives instead.
How about All Fascists Are B.........no, wait, that's not gonna work either.
:)
Assigned Republican At Birth?
Assisted Reprobates Acting Badass
All Republicans Are Blowhards
If they were only blowhards it’d be fine.
Any Republican who hasn’t flipped to Democrat, Independent or started voting 100% against their party isn’t to be trusted.
So we can’t trust any of them that I’m aware of.
There’s a word for that, starts with a “T” and rhymes with taters.
It's super normal to take an xmas photo like this. And to teach your kids that it's normal. None of them will grow up to be super messed up or commit horrible crimes.
Anywhere other than Lemmy this would necessitate a suffix of /s
Put him in the category of useful idiot just like MTG
Right? No politician is your ally, they're all just individual people. Sometimes the things those people do benefit you, sometimes they don't. What matters is that you take advantage of the actions that benefit you when they happen to bubble up by coincidence. When the worst people you know start fighting with each other, for the love of God don't get in their way.
He's not an idiot though, he does this knowingly
Why do these... people feel the need to hold guns?
Dicks/tits too small?
I mean, I own guns and enjoy shooting, but unless I'm using them at the range or cleaning them, they stay locked up in the gun safe.
Identity politics.
Identity of what?! I'm so terrified of everything that I need to hold something that can kill people?!
“I’ll kill you or threaten to”
It’s always implied with these losers. Can’t win a fight via intellect, so they choose violence.
Yes, it's exactly that. These are the people who are afraid to have a fun night in the city because that's where dangerous people are.
Don't go dissing on small tits. They are without question the best tits.
I agree with this statement.
Sorry, didn't mean to imply hate. In my mind:
"Medium is premium, flat is justice, and oppai is truth".
As a former gun nut, if those are legit fully automatic weapons that are registered, they are holding around $100K-275k in firearms. The tommy gun alone is around $25k+. That M60 is about $60-150k and M16's are around $18-25k each. Flashing your insecurity as well as your wealth to your constituents is a...choice.
Not when your constituency is also equally as pro gun... which Kentucky is.
True, and most gun people are too stupid to learn about the NFA world and how expensive legal fully automatic firearms are, so they wouldn't know the flex this picture actually is and would just say "YEAHHHHH, 'MERICA!!" and vote for him again while their family struggles to afford insurance.
celebrating the birth of Jesus with guns, amen
Is it Ian McCollum's birthday already?
Any Republican who is still a Republican after the past 25 (45?) years is an evil idiot or just plain ultra gullible.
I just can't wrap my head around the people who say things like,"I've always been a Republican, my family has always been a Republican. I always vote Republican. I don't agree with a single stance of the current Republican party, I think they are evil. But I have to continue to vote Republican because that's what I do." Like it's harder to shake that yoke of being a Republican than it is to get away from Scientology or something.
There are useful Republicans that we should try to take advantage of when we can though. This type of messaging is normally used to imply anything to do with them is evil, so don't vote for anyone who cooperates with them ever. That's dumb though. When they can be used to further our efforts, they should be used. We can still hold them accountable, but take advantage when they give an opening to be exploited. They certainly will.
Yep, don't vote for them, but thank them for at least doing the bare minimum.
I don't have to agree with everything he does to agree with him on one thing.

There are strategic moments that make sense. Liz Cheney (with no actual policy compromises) saying basically that, "I'm a Republican but Trump is a national security threat so I'm voting Harris" is strategically sound. Those who know Trump is a threat were already voting Democrat. Those on the fence or sitting out may have been persuaded by this bipartisan act (even though we all know we wouldn't want Cheney running domestic policy).
With respect to Massie, I'm glad he has carved out a sliver of morality on this one issue because Good vs. Bad isn't boolean; it's a gradient.
That said, there isn't a race in the country for these midterms where the Republican is better than the Democrat on the ballot.
(Also, Massie like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger before him, already lost his Primaries so won't be in Congress anyway next year)
remember boehner, and the one after him all in trumps 1st term. MTG quit like most Republicans did, so she cant do damage to the party. people suspect she is still trying to run Atlanta for some seat even after being rebuffed for the senate run.
what a bunch of losers
Santa isn't delivering shit to a house that's brim-full of gun happy lunatics. Christmas magic don't protect him from bullets.
If a politician made a post like this in any other country they'd be lucky to just be laughed out of government.
The fact that they find behavior like this normal just shows how deranged and unhinged they actually are
Looks very christian
is that a group of religious extremists?
I know these type of people that pose with guns and family. Generally the more guns and ammo they are stockpiling is a good inverse indicator of their IQ.
He's still the only politician that took action to get rid of AIPAC. I hate most if what he does, but if everyone agrees with something and it still doesn't pass, people got bought and democracy is a farce.
Rechurchicans
"This fat disorderly hick likely doesn't even realize his victory speech was littered with logical fallacies" the liberal savior thought to theyself. This last chance at judgement brought them an immense, smug satisfaction, a hearty reminder of all the witty tweets they'd posted, slamming prominent and unknown conservatives alike. Their pathetic clitty bulged against its cage, precum oozing with each imagined display of intellectual superiority.
The militia member was morbidly obese, his ICE tactical gear struggled to contain his greasy dough shaped mass. He barked, "Kneel down libcuck".
A sharp gust of wind brought a stinging chill out of the ditch, the pungent smell of earth inspiring their eternal liberal spirit. They assertively whispered "Guns should be more heavily regulated and require..."
A sharp crack echoed amongst the trees, their body made a heavy yet muffled thud as it hit the bottom of a makeshift trench that doubled as a latrine for the 'cosplaying' soldiers.
They went to capitalist heaven and spent eternity in a cubicle donated by AIPAC. In their spare time they wrote strongly worded letters to homosexual jesus protesting Epstein's placement on a yacht.
Little girl's got no muzzle control, she's about to dome her mama with a negligent discharge.
Santa, forget the ammo. Bring basic weapons handling/safety manuals
If you have an R after your name, I assume you're a pedophile. Obviously you are ok with child rape to continue to be in the Regressive Party (aka the Pedo Party)...
That photo continues looking crazier and crazier. What a sign of a sick society for families to pose in their living room and holiday garb while all carry modern weapons. Guns can be fun, but they're dangerous tools intended to kill. Sometimes there's good reason to kill, but it should be a solemn task
That girl cradling her gun as its barrel is pointed right at her mom's head is the most insane part.
Okay, so hopefully this isn't a sign of me being toooo out of touch, but what exactly is wrong with this photo? The post text uses a lotta charged language, so I can are y'all are upset over something, but aren't firearms like a normal thing for Americans?
Pretty sure the whole family posing with guns for Christmas is beyond corny, even by American standards.
Lots of us have them, but if you can't have a family Christmas photo without handing a kid an uzi you're concerningly into guns. And a lot of Americans who are too into guns talk about guns in a way indicating that they need therapy not a firearm. They're the sort who use them as emotional support objects, who reach for them whenever they feel scared (even if they shouldn't feel scared), and who seem to be looking for an excuse to end the life of a fellow human being
i like how massie says he wants to release, but doesnt really push hard at all. hes just saving his own skin,, even though hes technically primaried already. all the other republicans that left congress did it so not to hurt the gop as a whole.
I'm no Massie fanboy but
By tanking his career and ostracizing himself?? He's been pretty consistent in the two things that made him a target for Trump (Epstein and the deficit), it's not like MTG who fled a burning ship.
He's still very much a Republican and would never get my vote because of the rest of his opinions but he's been on the right side of history with those two things from early on.
It's a low bar but he pushed harder than 99% of politicians on either side.
hes going scorched earth like MTG did, snuffed out of congress, of course they would be vindictive.
So you learned who he was from the recent Epstein Transparency Act.
He's got his cushy pension to lean on.
And, probably a bunch of investments he made along the way at (ahem) favorable prices.
There's nothing wrong with responsible gun ownership. The only people who have a problem with the citizens arming themselves are liberals and neoliberals. Fascists love when neoliberals taking guns away from the people. It makes it easier for fascists to take guns away from the people.
Thomas Massie is an ally. Someone who disagrees with you on somethings but will still work together with you on a common goal is precisely what an ally is.
This picture is not an example of responsible gun ownership. Guns are not props or toys.
Those guns are all unloaded (or at least don't have their magazines). The holders are all practicing good trigger discipline and have the muzzles pointed away from everyone else. Guns aren't props or toys correct. But they do represent a sizeable financial investment and for some they spend a lot of their free time with guns. People take family photos with new cars, new houses, remodeled kitchens and bathrooms and none of those are toys or props.
Gun Owners like the Massies are problematic for a myriad of ways. But their ownership of guns is not one of them.
I'm not complaining about their gun ownership. I'm complaining about the picture and the attitude it demonstrates. They are posing with weaponry, treating them as props, for what? To try and look cool? They're sitting in their fucking living room. They're not out shooting or defending themselves or maintaining them. Put them away.
That's like $100K worth of hardware. They have obviously spent lots of time together as a family with those guns. They are proud gun owners. If they were trying to look cool they could probably stage a better picture. They are showing off how their family spends time together and you got a hate-on for them so you're projecting your feelings about their behavior.
So their family spends time together jerking off with their rifles around the christmas tree? I don't care how much money they've spent, rich people buy dumb shit for appearance sake all the time. This picture shows nothing but the fact that they treat guns like toys.
guns are a constitutional right
So is me calling him a pathetic insecure dork.
And the most communist aspect of the US.
How's that?
Communists argue for arming the masses so they can remain in permanent revolution against the elites/any new elites that try to seize power.
Capitalists argue for consolidating power in the elites. At the very least only people who can afford them would have them but then that's not a right.
Actual history would like a word.
Following the Russian Revolution, Council of People's Commissars issued a December 10, 1918 decree requiring ordinary citizens to completely surrender private weapons and ammunition under penalty of long prison terms
You can build an AR-15 for about $500 if you are patient with sales.
Or, 20 second search on gunbroker https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1197958046
Marx and Luxembourg would disagree.
Also most communists wouldn't consider the USSR communists. Even contemporaries called it state capitalist.
Theory vs reality
I think for any ideology, adherence to theory is more important than labels people claim.
Only because idiot corporate bootlickers said so.
A gun is just a tool. That family looks scary because the tool they love has only one purpose... To kill. If you're bad at it you can scare or mame. To not be bad at it you have to practice.
But imagine the same picture with the family holding butchering knives, or hammers, or a drill or a broom or guitars. Any of those objects are fine. But the message really changes when everyone is holding the tool like they're ready to use it. I use my mind a lot. In my family pictures we hold up our minds.
Once monkeys figured out you can use a stick in an anthill to scrape out yummy goodness they all started worshipping the stick. Christian American republicans aren't so different from monkeys. Now that's what I call evolution!
