Some Retailers Are Refusing to Sell GTA 6 Due to the Lack of a Disc
Video Games Plus, a gaming retailer based out of Canada, and an independent gaming retailer known as Loot Box Gaming have both stated that they won't be selling GTA 6.
Not huge retailers in the grand scheme of things, but interesting to see at least some taking a stand especially when they are almost certainly losing out on money by doing so.

"Security measure to not leak the game"
Entirely BS. How has the entire games industry existed before then?
Can we also talk about how they're locking full on content behind the ultimate edition? Not just some cosmetics, but the actual shops you'd go to in game to customize your character. In a single player game. That's fucked.
It's enough that I'm not getting the game. I can wait for PC and we'll see if they release it as a full game rather tham carve it up. This is just an excuse not to have a $100 base price so they avoid that backlash while they effectively have it for the full game.
Remember when you bought a game and it was yours?
Remember when you unlocked things in game through completion and achievement?
Remember when you bought a game you got the whole game, not 70% and access to a storefront?
Fuck AAA gaming man. I feel sorry for the devs and artists who work so hard on a game only for executives to slice it up and smear the goodwill the game had by attempting to be predatory and parasitic capitalists.
Fuck the billionaires.
I feel like devs and artists should know about this already since this shit keeps happening and that they're enabling this behaviour. Please correct me if you think Im saying some dumbass shit but I think at this point I can't excuse them.
You can't correct an opinion, own it or shut up
They're people who followed their passions, learned the skills, and were able to join those companies and have secured an income, which we have tied to our very survival.
Can we blame them for being used by corporations when the alternative could be homelessness and societal outcast? Especially in this current fascist regime with less and less social protections? Even more so if they have families to provide for.
I'm sure they're aware. But we've yet to achieve class consciousness. They're made to believe they have no choice. Corporations union bust and threaten that you're replaceable and that there are no jobs.
Devs aren't the enemy. They're working class just like us. Executives psychologically, financially, and physically manipulate and abuse us. They're the enemy we need to focus on.
[for consoles] if it doesn't have a disc, i won't pay more than $5 for it.
unless it's stardew. then i'll buy it for every system.
I have only bought stardew valley once, because I only game on PC, but I definitely would buy it for multiple systems if I used them; it's already such good value that I feel like I'm stealing. I do love a passion project.
I wonder if ConcernedApe has a proper desk yet
He does!
This is a tough one because on one hand I'm old school I like to own physical things. Going to the music store and looking at, and then buying, CDs was my favorite. I like my CD and BluRay collection
On the other hand, it's a waste of money and material to make a physical copy of something you can sell digitally. Plus you got to package it, ship it, etc...
It's better for the environment if we don't make physical products
It's interesting to watch the cycle of bullshit that happens around every hyped game.
Years up to the release, people are full of wild speculation, impossible expectations, and excitement.
Months up to the release, suddenly every piece of news is blown massively out of proportion. People are now extremely overreacting to every minor piece of news like it's going to end this game.
The internet is so boring when it comes to video games. Reviews have become useless because nothing is ever good enough. Online discourse is worthless because people are always focused on the weird parts of a game or it's release.
It's like anything... Think about how many people ride bicycles. Now go to ANY online community where people talk about cycling; it will likely be the most insufferably pedantic assholes you can imagine.
99% of people who buy video games don't identify as "gamers", they don't read gaming media, and they certainly don't interact with gaming discussion online.
As both an industry professional (former), and a self-identified gamer, I stopped giving a shit what "core gamers" had to say 10 years ago.
Its such a weird thing to watch from a PC gamer perspective. The game won't release on PC for another year or longer after consoles. I'm really not feeling like I'm missing out or anything, if anything it's like I'm standing back and watching a potential train wreck from afar.
Rockstar has been hyping this game up like it's the next coming of Christ and there's just no way it lives up to that much hype. People complaining about the lack of physical media, or the confusion surrounding paid DLC. I'll just sit back and watch what happens. If it releases flawlessly with zero issues, then I'll look forward to the PC release. If it crashes and burns, well they have a year to fix it and to convince me it's worth it.
Exactly what I am doing as well.
I don't think this is an overreaction. As a PC gamer, this completely ruins my plans for playing the game. I was planning to buy a used console and the physical edition of the game, so I could resell both when the game came out on PC. This is another entry into "you will own nothing and be happy."
i'm fortunate to have some friends who are close enough we trust each other to lend consoles. we tend to swap the nintendo/playstation for about a month a year so we can catch up on whatever we missed the most (and we've bought each other games just so we can play them, it's cute)
Games like that don't really fit on discs anymore when they are probably over 100GB. So you get a disc and put it in the console and then it downloads 150GB more content onto the console, that means the disc is just a license key anyway.
What is a bigger issue is that they want to charge $80+ for a game. I'm not going to pay that much for any game.
Two discs. You put in one, it installs half the game, you put in the other, it installs the rest of the way. Or three or even more discs if the game is THAT big.
The PS4 can handle this, a couple PS5-era games we got for PS4 came on two discs.
Games came on multiple disks back in the day. Why not now?
They do now, not just in the past. FF7 Rebirth shipped on multiple discs.
To what end? The reason games came on multiple disks back in the day is because Internet speeds were slow (if they were there at all.) it was way faster to load via disk, and companies couldn't even count on users to have a stable Internet connection anyway.
That's not true anymore. The only reason physical disks exist at all now is more out of tradition than anything practical.
I don't know how to make you understand the value of owning your own things.
They could do that, but it would cost them more money to provide that convenience to the customer. Since they are high AF on their own hype for that release, they have no motivation to do that.
Why even? I stopped using discs when CDs were the thing. Skipped DVD and bluray completely. Don't even had a drive for over a decade now.
So you can own your game.
What's wrong with the disk being a license key? That'd work just fine for my plan of reselling the game and console when it comes out on PC.
When the studio stops hosting the game to download, the license key is worthless.
I suppose I should clarify that I'm not advocating for it, but it'd be better than a digital key that'll be tied to your account forever.
Nothing wrong with that, except that it's weird. Reselling games is not important to me though, I just keep what I get and add to the collection. Still have a physical boxed copy of Halo for Mac OS X in my attic even.
Being able to share the game with family or friends would be a plus. I can do that with my Steam library without discs too.
or the reviews are in lines of "brings nothing new, 9/10"
Retailers should know that selling this is a poison pill. If no disc launches become the norm, then retailers will no longer serve a purpose in the industry.
They've been trying to kill the second hand market for decades and this release is the biggest threat to it yet.
I don't understand why ive been seeing so many people say this, that ship sailed long ago. Not only did the switch have games with download only codes, (not to mention that with switch 2 they have the "Game Key Card"), but PC games did this for years (maybe still do?) before moving away from physical discs entirely.
I still can’t find Ultra HD discs in the shops either - it’s easier to find low res DVDs in 2026 than 4k discs even though most TVs sold now are 4k.
I have become convinced that Sony are deliberately sabotaging their own format because Sony Pictures ran the numbers and concluded they’d make more money if everyone had to stream.
A perpetual subscription is obviously a more stable source of income for corporations than a one-time purchase of a software package.
Adobe figured that out more than a decade ago. I'm surprised that it has taken the legacy media companies this long to hop on that particular bandwagon.
Yep. Nevermind the fact that the second hand market is fantastic advertising for the companies and the quality of their games, and a surefire way to manufacture future customers.
I cant tell you how many brand new games I bought over the years, because I picked up a previous release used.
Hell, Final Fantasy is a fine example.. I got FF4 used from a garage sale.. which lead to me buying 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15.. some of those games multiple times for new platforms.
One used game, translated into additional sales of almost every game that followed.
They don't want the secondhand market. There's no tangible profit there. They don't want you to buy games. There's tangible profit there only once. They want you to subscribe. They want recurring payments whether you use it or not. They want you to feel obliged to play certain games because you're already automatically sending the money. They do not give a shit if you finish a title. Eyes on the screen in their ecosystem is all they want. It doesn't matter if it's the console manufacturer or the game developer. GTA(#) has been hyped for decades, they don't need a physical GTAV to float around to convince a handful of people to buy GTAVI. GTA is not in the same market as FF
Hence GTA Online, where whales can keep spending hundreds of dollars for shark cards because they cant hope to play the game enough to stay infront of FOMO with all the new cars and other shit they constantly release.
they should want the secondhand market for exactly the reasons @[email protected] described. a secondhand sale leading to future sales leads to subscriptions. the secondhand market isn't cutting into their profits, it's free advertising.
free advertising that they've been paid to make, cause that second hand game wouldnt exist if they hadnt already gotten their pay from someone buying it.
Used games are basically the companies getting paid, to advertise their games to others, who then.. as long as they are a half decent company, would more than likely pick up more customers in the future than they would have had otherwise.
The solution is blockchain tokenization that is transferable to a new owner for the secondary market.
Will they ever implement something like that? Of course not.
What disc will this game fit on? I'd like to buy a stack of them to backup my media library.
Lots of games have shipped on multiple discs over the decades. As recently as FF7 Rebirth which was shipped on two or three, iirc.
I was familiar with PS1 games doing it but hadn't seen it since then. Admittedly I haven't owned a console since the Xbox 360 and even that I only played a few games on. I was under the impression that most discs these days basically amounted to a cd key and then the actual game downloaded to the console when you tried to play it.
Blueray if the game is under 128 GBs.
GTA5 on Steam says it requires 105GB. It's not unreasonable to think that GTA6 would take more than 128GB.
Of course with compression (at the cost of longer load times) and/or lower quality textures, I would bet you could make it fit.
I also seem to recall some disk based games in the past containing a subset of the full game. Although at that point you don't really "win" by having it on disk of isn't the full game.
Or you could do multiple disks.
GTA5 has gone through a decade and more of storage requirement bloat thanks to rockstar, I wouldnt be surprised if GTA6 is at laucnher smaller than GTA5 currently
Rockstar marketing exec: "It must be at least 1TB"
Even if the disk was in the box, it wouldnt matter.
It'd just be some basic files that an installer transfers over. You'd still have to download a bunch online and use the code in the box to activate it because theres no way they'd put the whole game on a disk.
So, while I applaud giving the finger to rockstars exploitative bullshit, this seems more performative than anything.
Ok, but you can still physically take that disk with those minimal files and trade them in for at least some credit or cash somewhere.
If it’s digital, you can’t do that at all. Hell, if you download or play the game and do not like it then it can’t even be returned for a refund on many systems. A physical disk gets you something. Something…
except no you cant, because the download keys already been used and registered and permanantly tied to an account. Making the disk worse less than nothing.
That is not how disks that don't have data on them have worked in the past. The disk works as the game key, allowing you to install and play the game, even if there is no data on the disk.
yeah, the disk is essentially the
DLCDRM key for the consoleedit more coffee
Exactly like a Switch 2 Game Key Card.
You can still share and trade those.
Weird. I’ve been able to play many used games, including GTA in the past. Is this something new with 5 and beyond? I would think the GAME was playable, but any exclusives or anything extra from an order would not be.
I've lent friends PS5 games, so you tell me
Half of the games on steam don't have physical releases anymore. I don't know what IGN is on about
Half? You mean 99.99%? Take any random indie game... find its physical copy. I'll wait.
That's not even counting the miles and miles of asset-flip slop that's out there.
Most of the games on Steam don't have Rockstar's budget.
Are blu-ray drives even standard on gaming pcs anymore? I have no idea. They sure aren't on laptops, you're lucky to get an rj45 port on a laptop.
Well, GTA 6 isn't launching on PC any time soon so that's not particularly relevant right now.
Haven't had an optical drive anywhere in my home since 2012, don't miss it. Most new PCs do not have them
I got an external one so I could access the various discs I burnt over the years. Been slowly (though not very consistently lol) ripping the data off of the older CDs and DVDs with the intent of writing some m-disc blurays. Been surprised at the lack of errors on the older discs, but the new discs should eliminate that worry. Even if they don't last the promised 1000+ years, it'll be a problem for future generations to deal with.
Though the quality of my former prized files is kinda shit to the point where I'm already wondering if I even really care about losing most of it. I mean I did fine without any optical drive for like a decade or more.
On PC the majority of "physical" games is just a steam code in a cheap plastic box. One of the reasons no retailers are selling PC games
back when star field came out,i bought(for$85)what i thought was the deluxe edition dvd disc but when it arrived all it had was a code to download the 125GB data from their store page.
This is a fight retailers lost along time ago, even if they don't realize it. Even if it upsets some segment of the game buying population digital delivery and store fronts right on the console/PC are many orders of magnitude more convenient. And if the consumer loves one thing above cheap and flexible it is convenient.
It's convenient for some customers, but the reason retailers like GameSpot have been able to hang on for so long is because it's really inconvenient for other customers. People with smaller budgets rely on the second-hand market, buying and reselling one or two games at a time versus wanting to own forever.
2ND Hand? The thing I boycotted steam for so long when it released? Out of fear it will A) control the market and B) kill 2nd Hand games.
Which it did...long ago. Which games could you buy 2nd Hand?
Steam killed the second-hand market for PC, but PC only accounts for about half of the gaming market. All those other people? Capable of buying used and trading in physical media.
No physical, no purchase. Period. I guess I'll need to wait.
nah, if it's good enough I'll give 'em $5.
I fear they're the trendsetter and physical copies will become a thing of the past in the next couple of years.
Should they sell you an SSD? 20 Blu-rays?
I'm not going to play any games that need several terabytes to install. I've got more than enough older games I've never played to last me the rest of my life and then some.
y...yes. I would like a free SSD with my game please. That sounds like the best promotional deal.
I don't even want GTA6 but i'd buy the fuck out of that.
Blu-rays can store up to 128gb so you need only 3 disxs for a 300gb game...
And if 3 discs are too much for ya, they can put in there even a modern storage device
Games would ship with multiple discs if required in the past. The issue with no disc at all is that the license cannot be transferred.
HL2's original release came on 5 CDs, so yeah, games used to be multiple disk. its no big deal. Course, thats in the before times, from the long long ago.. When gamers werent so spoiled with broadband internet and instant gratification.
That's an interesting example.
HL2 controversially required you to sign in to a new online service upon installation even though you had a physical disc. Everybody was super pissed about it at the time.
But now most PC gamers act like that service is the one good thing on earth.
Oh no, no no no. HL2 was far worse than that.
HL2 made you install the full game, off of 5 CDs, and it installed steam as well.
Then after the installation was complete, you had to register a steam account, and log in, so steam could decrypt your installed game, Which if you had a computer that wasnt bleeding edge in 2004, that your computer would be locked up and unusuable for a very long time. Mine was locked up for almost a full day processing the decryption.
And I still say, to this day, that steam is bullshit. That I shouldnt be forced to run steam for single player games, but back then at least steam was just a server browser/matchmaker. It wasnt the big pseudo-wannabe digital walmart+facebook that it is today.. so you at least had an excuse to run it to play multiplayer games like HL2 deathmatch and CS:Source.
But requiring it for any single player game is the height of bullshit.
I wager most the people you find eagerly sucking off Valves cock as if its gods gift to gaming, are people 21 or under, who did not know a world before digital downloads, and who didnt know valve at their worst, before lawsuits and countries forced them to be marginally better.
Finally, a kindred soul. Valve is the worst thing to happen to PC gaming in decades.
It annoys me how people whine about exclusives on epic when valve were the ones who forced steam down our throats in the first place with HL2.
True, but, and I dont want to be in this position, but its a little bit different having their game on their service, and epic going out and paying other companies to drop their games off steam before release so they can have timed artificially exclusivity on epic.
Those are two entirely different piles of bullshit.
The disc is still an issue for me even with the licensing issue. I like to resell and gift my console games and you can't do that without a disc.
It's one of the things that makes me sad about PC gaming. Steam killed physical PC games and it sucks.
I don't care if it's just one disk and you have to download most of the game, the important thing is being able to give the disk to someone else, allowing them to play the game.
If it is on 20 blu rays they better start shipping it on SSDs instead.
But let's be honest, it's not going to be 2TB for the compressed installation. Probably around 100 to 200gb that will be needed, meaning it would need 2 discs at most.
Now, I am pretty old, so I have played a fair few games that came on multiple Disks, CDs and DVDs. Some of my favourite games are on 4 discs.
Somebody said that the game is 300GB, BluRay XL4 can hold 128GB, so that would be 3 discs. Of course if the game console can read XL4.
Yea, but someone saying that and it being true are very different beasts. Rockstar have not said anything about install size. And that also ignores that compression is applied as well, which would make it smaller.
Also... Oh no... 3 whole discs? What ever would they do!
20 blurays?
If the game is 500gbs in size, and costs 100 fucking dollars, then goddamn yes it better include a fucking dedicated SSD.
In the current economy people would buy the $100 game preinstalled on the SSD, then format the drive to use it with something else
i doubt very seriously hordes of people are gonna pay 100 dollars for a 128gb ssd thats read only, to try to make it usable, when they can go on amazon and get one for 20 bucks
I'm not buying GTA 6 anyway
Same. I kinda liked gta 5. But i was more intrigued to play online with my friends. Remember the online trailers? People doing cool stuff and mess around in the sandbox? Yeah no, i forgot about people who would play gtao are people who play gta.
GTA online was awful. You can never do anything because you would always get blown up because they kept putting in stupid overpowered vehicles.
Plus anything cool required real money, or an insane amount of grinding.
Based
It is a reflection though. A box with a piece of paper in it is a direct reflection of fucking idiocy.
"The biggest game of 2026"
Is it a terabyte or something?
300GB apparently. So not far off. Especially with SSD prices these days.
Fifteen times the size of the smallest PS3.
Man, they should offer disc anyway so gen-z can experience the "please insert disc 2 and press continue" while installing.
It'll be the Windows 95 14-disk floppy set all over again, but this time with 18 DVDs
I see you were also traumatized by the floppy release. Lol
I had pre-ordered the CD release from Babbage's, and went to pick that up. Being that I was only 15, I had to get a ride, and it was also 45 min each way, so this wasn't exactly easy for me.
When I got home, I still hadn't realized they gave me the wrong one and cracked it open to see the horror. Said screw it, I wasn't going to be able to go back anytime soon and installed it for the next hour or more.
Luckily, because this was pre-activation key (we remember those days, right? ... right??), when I took it back, they apologized and gave me the right one without much problem.
Only installed once from 14 floppies, but it still was terrible.
There are already games with dedicated install discs like that.
WTF...so much for optimization.
Blame the people wanting to be able to see every flies asshole. Textures get huge fast.
That's such a weird example
It is. But I don't think it's any more weird than photo realistic horse balls that seem to have been all the rage a short while ago.
We don't frequent the same internet circles apparently
Not surprised they're large, mostly because the asset sizes are dictated by what screen resolution people play (yeah, 1440p fomo) and how big their monitors are (27" or bust), and how often they stream or make screenshots.
Isn’t a series S as low as 256gb?
That tells me the game needs to be under that
I have a Series S and the usable storage is around the 360GB mark.
I'm not going to buy GTA6 but imagine having to dedicate your whole console to 1 game :(
Lol, soon we will be buying games on game consoles instead of disks.
Fuck... I'd have to delete at least 5 other games to make room...
5? In a closet behind me I have a physical disk containing 4 full games, including their scanned manuals, on one CD. That’s right, a CD, not a DVD.
No, but the packaging is a refrigerator box.
Fragile..it's italian!
the keycode is laser-etched onto one of the nails holding it together.
That looks like a major award!
GTA 6's launch will be a terrible day for the video games industry.
A lot of releases postponed due to some boring ass game about gangs and crime. For some reason, everyone wants to just drive around and shoot people, instead of experiencing interesting stories? Whatever.
Not to mention all of their shitty decisions, lies, union busting, and more, which will have essentially been forgotten with GTA 6's launch. No matter how much they lost or will lose in lawsuits, they'll just make it back tenfold from GTA 6, and continue with their scummy practices.
What a weird take. Every single GTA game has had a story and it's pretty obvious that this one's going to have a story too. You can complain about all sorts of things to do with rockstar but that's just a weird thing to say.
GTA and red dead redemption are usually highly regarded, they usually also came out as single player campaign first, like GTA 6 I believe will as well, then later add on the online part which GTA V is now famous for.
I never really got into the online aspect of GTA but did play through the main story and even my wife would come over to just watch like if it was a movie, so Id say it was pretty good. Ive been wanting her to play red dead as I think that was better but just no time for much games anymore
Have you ever, like, played a game other than GTA?
Did you know they all usually feature stories? I mean, I do understand it's kinda crazy, but it's true!
And the stories in other games are infinitely better, too. They're more than just poorly written characters saying 'fuck' or the n-word twice in every sentence.
Honestly, I highly recommend playing video games. Try it some time.
This is an unnecessarily gatekeepy take. I love an extremely wide variety of video games, from Morrowind to Monkey Island, and I think GTA games have had generally compelling stories. Crime drama is a fiction staple and scarcely anyone does it better than Rockstar.
I don't know where the gatekeeping comes from. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but I literally encouraged the other person to play more varieties of games, which as far as I know is the opposite of gatekeeping.
Though I can agree the 'take' wasn't particularly good. I found the other comment stupid, so I wrote a stupid, maybe mocking reply. That's all there is to it.
Yes. I'm much more interested in the new The Witcher 3 DLC than in this, for example.
The GTA stories are better than like 90% of what constitutes a narrative in games these days. They're not better than something like Cyberpunk, but it's better than a visual novel like Citizen Sleeper.
I guess it depends on what you're into, but for me stories in GTA are mediocre at best. Just average action movies dragged out into 40+ hour walking, driving, and shooting simulators.
Oh, I'm not judging the actual genre, I'm saying the quality itself. Character depth, subversion of expectation, yet still being predictable to an enjoyable point. The right amount of ups and downs in hopes and fears for protagonists etc. All genre and dressing aside, it's still good stuff. Again, not masterpieces, but still they at least demonstrate consistently that they care about narrative structure and pacing. Video games these days give zero shits about characters, pacing, emotional up and down beats, a ratio of predictability and subversion of expectation. They often care solely on mechanics and visuals and technical bits and a narrative being bolted on top.
A good video game has a narrative that reinforces the mechanics and themes and the mechanics and themes reinforce the narrative. Very few games do all of that, GTA single player stories at least try and that makes it better than a lot of games these days in terms of a story.
This game is way too overhyped and I've played GTA 3, San Andreas, 4 and 5.
San Andreas was the best one for me, 4 was boring because of all the constant let's go play darts, let's go to the strip club especially with Roman fuck you Roman, 5 i completed because i was hoping that by the end i'd like it because it was worth it, it wasn't and 3 was ok but that was during the PS2 era so if i played it today might have different opinion.
Haven't seen much about it or i just missed it other than it's a brother sister game and if it's like 4 and 5 i won't even bother watching a YT story video but if it's kinda like San Andreas then it might have a chance with me.
I liked 4, especially if you also played the DLCs you saw how the different characters intertwined, especially the diamond story, you for the whole picture how the diamonds changed hands, Pulp Fiction style.
5 was really mid because of the story. 2/3 of the characters you play as have already reached the end of their character arcs, and they spend most of the time bitching about how they'd rather not be doing any of the missions you're forced to do. Really brings home how much of the missions are unnecessary bullshit they're roped into by weird plot contrivances. Even the ones where they're doing a big heist for huge profits ... why? Again, 2/3 of them already have plenty of money and other shit going on. They don't need it. Splitting it into 3 characters is also a mistake, IMO -- it dilutes your experience with each one, so you never really bond with or identify with any of them as much as you might if there was only 1 playable character.
And then there's the money and progression. In SA, you start out with next to nothing. There's lots of stuff you can't afford, which makes every dollar you manage to gain meaningful. Collecting stuff and completing missions can mean the difference between being able to afford a cool gun or not, between being able to afford a new safehouse or not. You eventually progress to being able to afford all of it ... through your own work and effort. And then the whole gang wars part gives you even more progression as you slowly take over all the gang territory in the city. But in 5, again 2/3 of the characters start with enough money to afford anything in the game. And the 3rd character quickly gains just as much after only a few missions. There was never a single point in all of playing through 5 where I found anything they couldn't already afford. That really robs the game of a sense of progression. You never really unlock anything new that you couldn't have before (aside from a few safehouse locations that are mission-related). You have no reason to care whether you're collecting money and mission rewards or not -- it's all meaningless money that you'll never spend anyway. And that again contributes to a sense of meaninglessness when it comes to the story missions. Completing a mission makes no difference to you or your character -- just another arbitrary challenge to be overcome, and the only reward is getting a little closer to being able to say you finished the game.
What made SA great is the story and the sense of progression. If GTA 6 doesn't bring that back, I think I'm ready to give up on the franchise.
5 felt like they half wrote 3 different games, realized they were running out of time, and then smushed them all together. Finishing the campaign becomes a chore long before the ending. Speaking of the ending if you do manage to chug through your reward is an abrupt and extremely weak ending that again feels like they just ran out of time
It’s crazy because then they plopped out red dead 2 which was a tremendously excellent narrative by comparison. They clearly have the means to make something fantastic.
I agree. The game themes are about making money through doing crimes. If the gameplay doesn't match that then they fucked up. It's one of the most trivial things to do with the design of the game, but they think telling players no ever is bad, so they hand everything to you. What's the point of the game then? I'm assuming the only reason this isn't the same for multiplayer is because then they couldn't sell you the solution.
I kinda liked the memes from 4. When online worked, I did the swing set glitch for hours at a time. 5 had the heist missions and those were fun.
But everything was hampered by their dog shit shooting mechanics. In a game where you shoot this much, it shouldn’t feel so bad.
That swing set glitch was the best thing about 4.
Parachute glitch was the best time. The dudes I played with back then came up with tons of game modes based around it.
Same, Vice City and San Andreas are the only GTA games I enjoyed, got GTA 5 for free on Epic played it for a bit and got bored and dropped it, I do not like the photo real look, GTA works best with the slightly cartoons, janky graphics of San Andreas, the photo real shit has no soul
I'm Canadian. Never heard of VGP. Looked them up, they have one location. By not huge you really mean inconsequential. Negligible.
They do a lot of online sales as I understand it. Given there's not a lot in the Canadian market online for physical resale, they are really only behind EB Games in that regard.
Yah, they should just read the writing on the wall and cut they're losses.
This game is going to be a terd
Respect
Can I order the disc and return it from my least favorite online marketplace after I use the code?
Isn't this game gonna be huge wrt size? Like how would this fit on a single disk. You would prolly need 10 disks or sth like that
Like in good old Xbox 360 days, L.A. Noire came on three DVDs.
Cursory search indicates that Xbox Series X can read BD-50, PS5 can read BD-100, so that's 6-7 and 3-4 discs, respectively
Tbf my copy of GTA V for PC came on 7 discs back in 2014, so I guess it's not unheard of for them. My gaming PC didn't have a disc drive so that was a fun start. Multi-disc games are worse on consoles though for sure
I bought World of Warcraft back in 2005 and it came in 5 Disks.
Yall are boring, them raising the price is greedy but 10$ is not a big deal, most games yall buy digitally without a second thought since they are only available for sale online, this gta 6 hate just seems perfomative, I'm buying it day 1 and will likely get more than 1$ an hour of enjoyment out of it.
Yeah I was expecting a much worse price. Unfortunately I'm not ready to update my console yet, so I won't buy on release like I did with V. But you can bet I'll get it as soon as I upgrade.
To the people complaining about the stories in GTA games:
Rockstar made Red Dead 2. Great characters. Great story. Great writing. You haven't played VI yet, the story could be awesome.
Some people just like to have fun. I play loads of story-focused games, narrative based, lore-rich, all types. But it's still fun to drive around and shoot shit while listening to silly fake radio stations sometimes. Not everything has to be a thought-provoking artistic experience. Give me sticky bombs and a rock/punk station and I'll be happy for hours.
Yes it's overhyped. But it will be fucking awesome nonetheless
Not a chance I buy it at relase, I've been burned too much preodering, but I likely will buy it week 1 if it's anything like gta 5 and rdr2. Hoping there are so many shops/cosmetics that the ultimate edition issue is overblown.
A lot of people don't care about GTA VI so much that they couldn't resist opening this post and telling everyone about it 😂
They genuinely just hate the game, I get not liking it because it means other AAA games not worth 80$ will copy and it may become the new baseline price or being mad they took out clothes, shops, etc. to sell as day 1 dlc with the ultimate edition, but they are all acting like they aren't remotely interested in the GTA brand and always hated the games lol..
I'm still buying it, maybe a week after launch, but yeah I'm definitely not a fan of cosmetics being locked behind another paywall. Elden ring and bg3 are my favorite games because you earn all the cosmetics and there are a ton of optione.
