Is this true?

Cyberpunk 2077.

I like the linear missions, but just exploring the open world and discovering things naturally is fun too. I think they could have done more with that, and it definitely feels like the game was way more linear in early development, but with all the updates CDPR managed to make something pretty cool IMO.

Both are annoying

I mean, this kind of argument is a bit stupid. Are we supposed to not recommend any books because garbage like Mein Kampf exists (and is infact still printed today)? That's some certified Grade A trash that is permanently associated with books (or more specifically, the book genre Autobiography or Philosophy).

GKIDS Acquires North American Rights to "VAMPIRE HUNTER D: BLOODLUST" - Theatrical Release This Fall

Reply in thread

Since GKIDS is an American company formed in 2008, you have to consider what the average American in 2008 thought about anime. And for the 99% of them, "animes are cartoons, and cartoons are for children." The company was also formed by someone that ran the International Children's Film Festival. So that explains that.

Ironically, in Japan, there isn't much of a distinction between anime and cartoons. They're both called anime, which is just short for animation or animated work. So for the Japanese, Tetsujin 28, Berserk, Disney's Sleeping Beauty, and Shrek are all "anime."

GKIDS is currently owned by Japanese film giant Toho.

Luxury car brands Mitsubishi Mazda and Suzuki Subaru were selling alongside Toyota Lexus, Nissan Infinity, and Honda Acura, so when did Subaru and Mazda become independent from Mitsubishi and Suzuki?

Neither Mazda nor Subaru are subsidiary companies, nor have either been owned by or owned Mitsubishi or Suzuki. And honestly, none of those are luxury brands either.

It is possible that some models from Mazda or Subaru have used parts manufactured by Mitsubishi or Suzuki in them, as parts sharing pretty common even today, but that doesn't make any assertion or subsidization. GM used Mitsubishi parts in Saturn cars, for example.

I mean, maybe. But that may have been a local dealership thing or some kind of joint venture deal. They have never owned the other, though.

Subaru had a joint venture plant with Isuzu in Indiana which was called "Subaru Isuzu Automotive," where they have manufactured or still manufacture the Subaru Ascent, Crosstrek, and Forester. Nothing with Suzuki though.

Mitsubishi is currently owned by Nissan. Hyundai has sold rebadged Mitsubishis before, and Mitsubishi has sold rebadged Suzukis before. Mazda is the parent company of itself and currently has a joint venture plant in Alabama with Toyota. But Mitsubishi and Mazda have never had any joint ventures.

Behold, "the whole story of Steam's economy in one picture": the top 1% of games earn 84.5% of estimated revenue, and most games barely make anything

An Asset Flip is easily definable:

The developer purchased an asset pack or multiple asset packs on a game engine asset store, made no changes or almost no changes, and uploaded it as a game.

What you have defined (a game that is the same as another game but with different art) isn't usually called an Asset Flip, but instead a Clone. Clone games usually have much more effort put into them compared to Asset Flip games.

Trailer for the upcoming Golden Axe animated series on (blergh) Paramount+

Reply in thread

From what I can tell: Paramount Germany removed an episode of the show "Nathan For You" in Germany (then other Paramount branches in other countries did the same) for the reason that they were uncomfortable with "anything that touches on anti-semitism" following the start of the Israel/Hamas War, so the show creator made a new episode in the 4th season of the show that depicted Paramount as Nazis for "trying to overcompensate for the past by censoring Jewish creators."

Though following it is a bit difficult because the show is a comedy that parodies reality, so it is easy to mix details between reality and what is created for the show.

EA employees brace for the worst under Saudi ownership: 'Hard to feel good about being bought out by a regime that's very much at odds with progressive society'

Well I don't know if EA games could get any worse. Maybe the games will get better under different owners. The last ones didn't do very well, and that's being generous. At the worst they stay the same. I probably still wont buy them either way. Unless they remaster LotR Conquest or NFS Underground 2 and actually do a good job and make it super faithful, which is extremely doubtful.

Also, if they have such a problem with the new owners, I don't think anything is stopping them from seeking new employment with a company with social politics they agree with more.

Following accusations, James Pond Legacy devs say no generative AI was used in creating artwork

Reply in thread

I don't know anything about this particular situation so won't comment on it either way. I just think its funny that so many people can be so confidently wrong when it comes to thinking something is AI generated.

I get when something feels suspicious, and often feel this myself, but to be so confident to say it as fact and then be totally wrong when the artist posts a timelapse or something is hilarious to me.

Anon reflects on e-sports

People did care, which is why people who played games competitively continued to use CRT monitors well into the crappy LCD days.

Heck, some people still use CRTs. There's not too much wrong with them other than being big, heavy, and not being able to display 4k or typically beeing only 4:3.
