Public Notice - Banned Sources and Links (Rule Added)

Myself and BallShapedMan have decided to add this as a new rule to the sidebar. The new rule language should be clear what the intent is and shouldn't negatively affect pretty much any user here. In the original post, I stated that this post would be updated to reflect any changes going forward, but instead we will update the sidebar, so the rules aren't splintered across multiple locations.

If anyone has any suggestions, concerns, or otherwise, you are welcome to post that in the comments, and I will try to address it as I can. I want to be fair, but I also take the security and safety of this community's regular users and visiting users seriously. If you would prefer to not make a concern known public, you may privately message me instead.

Original post is below:

As of now, the following sources are not allowed as links in any post or comment. Posting links to the sites listed below in comments or posts is subject to an immediate permanent ban from the community. The format is:

  • websitename(dot)extension: reason

The following sources and links are banned:

  • carsandhorsepower(dot)com: serves malicious ads to users

This list will be updated in the future when more sources are added.

What objectively ugly car design do you secretly like, and why?

It doesn't have to be a real production car, it can also be a concept.

For me, it has to be the 1997 Dodge Copperhead. This ugly chungus just speaks to me and I don't know why. It is hideous, Pontiac Aztek levels of ugly, but I kinda wish Dodge actually sold it. It wasn't going to be gutless, sharing much with the Viper, but it also wasn't going to have the same price of the Viper (Viper at the time was ~$75k, this baby would have been ~$30k). For the price, a little ugly isn't that big of a deal for a similar powertrain. Surely a facelift kit could help it out some.

Just thought a discussion like this could be fun. What cars are the same for you?

Error:language_not_allowed

I am getting kinda sick of constantly not being able to post comments on seemingly random posts due to this error.

The instance is English, the post title is English, and my comment is in English. I have even logged into my instance website to change the language settings to have both "Undetermined" and "English" selected, and that still doesn't work. Not all posts have this problem, and not even posts in just one community or instance. Seems like the error is completely random.

I have to imagine this is an error specific to Connect for Lemmy, since I don't get the same error if I comment from my web browser. It seems to come from Connect for Lemmy not having an option to set the comment language when posting? Can that be corrected please?
