'The whole thing is screwed up': Farmers in deep-red Pennsylvania struggle to find workers

I just can not believe this and other “leopards ate my face” stories like it. This man knew his business and livelihood depended on immigrant labor. He knows exactly how his farm operates. And Trump was very clear on his intentions regarding immigration. It was one of his core policies he ran on. It’s impossible that this farmer had not considered this outcome. This story and others like it have to be fiction.

Motorcycle visor automatically tints when it's too bright out – no batteries needed

photochromic Lenses have been around for decades. I use photochromic goggles every time I dirt bike, no batteries or solar panel.

For faster response on the street I use a shoei helmet with drop down tinted lenses inside. Just a flick of the finger slides them down over my eyes. Simple, cheap, effective. Pretty sure it’s SNELL approved.

I don’t want complicated and expensive. $460 buys a few tires.

10 years old laptop - is it time to retire?

There are lots of variables in computers that can determine whether to continue using it, but if it was a quality computer and not just the cheapest laptop available it could be worth saving. I’m using a 20 year old Dell XPS and for web browsing and email it’s fine. Try reloading the operating system with a fresh install. First save any files you need to keep to an external drive or cloud system. Assuming windows, use the latest OS you can, prob Win 10. Or try Linux mint.

Does anyone here use special pants?

Aerostich. New they are expensive but you can get them used on eBay. Two zips and the whole thing comes off to reveal your work clothes. It’s a 10 second change that keeps you safe with knee, hip, back, elbow, and shoulder pads. Did I mention water proof too? Hands down the best protection for commuting.

My boss used to laugh at me walking to my desk asking if I was going snowmobiling. But he got canned so who’s laughing now?

And denim pants evaporate in a slide.

China develops “plastic” from bamboo cellulose that can replicate or surpass the properties of many widely used plastics and biodegrades in 50 days

Reply in thread

I’m not a propagandist, I’m an engineer who designs consumer products. As an environmentalist I actively campaigned my last employer in support of bio plastic options. However in over 30 years I have never been able to specify a single part made from bio plastic due to either material properties and/or the cost of raw resin. Like I said, good for the Chinese. But in America corporate greed rules.
