Doing my part to feed the local ladybugs
Leaving aphids alone to help encourage a crop of ladybugs for the future.
30 minutes before the sky opened and the roads turned to brown sauce

Camp Dissapointment
Early season riding is hard. Campgrounds are closed. Forest service gates are closed. Downed trees are everywhere. This is about 2 miles from pavement on the other side of that locked gate. We came 60 miles from the other direction. Rode around in the dark looking for a way out until 10:00 then decided to just set up camp here and figure it out in the morning. Sometimes you just have to know when to stop for the night and look at the problem with fresh eyes. The campsite was actually great, but the real dissapointment was no dinner.
California Scrub Jay lured in for a snack
He/she stops in for breakfast almost every morning.
Carpathian Walnut Catkin
A catkin or ament is a slim, cylindrical flower cluster, with inconspicuous or no petals, usually wind-pollinated but sometimes insect-pollinated. It contains many, usually unisexual flowers, arranged closely along a central stem that is often drooping.
Normally I would freak out...
After a Christmas party where a drunk woman lost her footing while dancing and plopped her full weight on this turntable I don’t even shoo this little nugget off. The sturdiness of the VPI Scout is astounding. Luckily the woman missed the tonearm. The platter took the full brunt. The feet dug gouges into the walnut stereo stand which makes for a good story when guests come over for listening sessions. The turntable is as smooth and steady as the day it was new. It goes without saying that woman hasn’t been invited back. But the cat stays.
Went on a ride today. Mostly pavement but still had a pretty good time
2025 Tenere 700. A very well mannered bike. Easy to ride and fun in the dirt. Five stars.
