My new whip - 1975 Honda CB550K
22,000 miles. Recently serviced. Great little bike.
Reminder to periodically check your sprocket for wear
Slipped a chain, luckly its vietnam so I only had to push the bike down 200 feet of highway and 1 intersection before I found a Honda shop. I'm lucky I wasn't stranded in some mountains or offf-road.
Spicing up the 20 y/o GTS 250
Been on this thing for 10.000 kilometers and no idea how much the previous pilot put on the belt: time for new belt, and let's pop in a Malossi Delta Clutch while the beetle's backside is suitably exposed. That's on the books for Wednesday.
Would love to hear experiences on the clutch on stock settings and springs if we have CVT enjoyers among us 😊
Good morning from Wisconsin!
Not usually one to pull over and take pictures, but damn, mother nature was putting on a show this morning.
Stripped front brake master cylinder screws...should I take it to a shop or is it doable for a total noob without fucking everything up??
Hello. I'm a new rider who recently purchased a ten year old bike. I have ZERO mechanical know how, but decided that I wanted to learn.
So far I managed to take both the front and rear wheels off to get the tires changed and I managed to change the oil. Since I am unskilled, it took a LOT of fumbling through these to get things going...including breaking some nuts (rear axle nut was stuck and I originally only had a 12 point socket) and bolts (overtorqued an oil filter cover bolt despite using a torque wrench) and buying replacement ones.
Since the bike is 10 years old, I know that all of the fluids need to be changed. I feel comfortable attempting the actual change for the brake fluid from my research EXCEPT I don't want to irreparably damage this area. The front brake works fine, but the sight glass is totally clouded and opaque, so I cannot visually check the condition or level of the fluid.
These are JIS screws and I have purchased replacement screws. Any advice here? Please consider my novice skill level lol.
I bought some screw extractor bits but do not have an impact driver. I have some JIS screwdrivers, a hammer, a regular drill, penetrating oil, and replacement JIS screws.
Thanks!
New bike
Back in Vietnam, got a new bike for basically what I sold my old one for.
cb150 verza.
Whispers only please, the halfrica twin is taking a nap.
So turns out next upgrade for the bike is going to be some not road tires, whoda thunk riding on silt and mud with 80/20s was a terrible idea. All in all just some plastic pieces broke which I can model and 3d print to fix. At least now I can say I have adventured.
Looking for opinion on my sprocket
I think my sprocket is getting a bit worn and need to be changed, but I’m looking for a second opinion. It doesn’t have the «shark fins» I’ve been reading about, but the sprocket fins look a bit thin and worn.
Would appreciate someone’s opinion it.
Melted my saddlebag today while doing groceries
Ya that's brown rice falling out. These bags were supposedly designed for sport bikes with upright facing exhausts and apparently are specially lined to be heat resistant and able to sit in front of the exhaust.
Came home from a grocery run to find that my frozen salmon fillets were fully thawed, my sweet potatoes transformed into baked potatoes, my cinnamon sticks became charcoal, and my rice bag melted 🙃
I've done groceries maybe a dozen times with these bags without issue but I guess the bag got a little too close to the exhaust. I spent all day today scraping dried molten plastic off my exhaust pipes and trying to pull rice out of my exhaust baffles (only got 2 grains out 😣).
Be careful out there...
Hopefully the rider is OK, not really sure how this happened!
