I have a scooter that is supposed to go upwards of 50mph, although the state speed limit for e-scooters is 20mph, and I need to find a better helmet. I am currently using a bike helmet.

I live 2 hours outside the city, and whenever I do make it to the city I never have time to find a motorcycle shop to look for a helmet.

So I am looking for a good online source. I have no plans to take the scooter up to the full 50mph, but have had it going 35mph. Normally I am going 15-25 though.

Last week I posted here the aftermath of my bike after getting run over. An event which had me very irritated. No details left, a bike that had been bought a month prior, and I bike that had felt amazing to ride.

I went to my local councils security team to see if they captured CCTV footage of the incident, a job I thought the police would carry out given the fact that they are the police... The council did dig up footage and requested that I inform the police to collect the surveillance, which I have done, unfortunately the security team have not shown the footage to me.

Then the bike shop, Ride On is an Exeter based bicycle charity, they take in old bikes, fix them up, and put them back into the community. The team is great and I've been a loyal customer for a while, they offer workshops, usage of they're tools and assistance in trouble shooting free of charge. When I brought the wreckage in, the guy (who had initially sold me the bike) had said it'll be covered by warranty (at the time I was thrilled but also didn't fully believe this to be the case) It sadly but understandable was not covered. They did however inspect the bike, found the frame had a 5mm misalignment as well as other issues. They said they could get the bike to a ridable state (not a trust worthy one, being aluminum frame would mean a high chance of micro fractures). Now the bike has had the needed repairs to get it back on the road and they only asked for the cost of replacement parts, no labour cost, which came to £68. This will have me going to work while I wait for the police to hopefully find who did this and get me back the cost of the bike.

Aftermath of some prick>>

Left my bike locked up at a rack on a road for pedestrian and commercial vehicles. Two hours later and I return to find that the bike has been flipped over the rack and both wheels are warped. Police have been unhelpful, saying for myself to request CCTV footage and that they won't investigate as no one person had been injured.

I'm so pissed, had this bike for one month now, its been a dream to ride, and some fuck probably in a commercial vehicle didn't care to check mirrors while parking, then drove off without leaving any detail.

The bike repairshop are saying the bike frame has a 5mm misalignment, both wheels will need replacing..

Sometimes, I think my nearest town is doing pretty well at providing for active travel like cycling and walking, with a pretty good but incomplete greenway network. Other times, local government does stuff like this: keep pushing ahead with a large 236-space car park with a small 55-space bike shed apparently so they can say it's "active travel" and have an active travel budget pay for it, but with an "avoidable safety risks" crossroads between the bike shed (numbered 2) and the access to the greenway towards town (numbered 8).

This crazy plan was approved at an irregularly-timed planning committee meeting this morning, with no notification to objectors (not even ones who had registered on the very error-prone self-service website) so I missed any chance to speak during the meeting and few councillors spend much time in the lobby before the meeting any more. I'm also pretty sure that councillors were told the road layout had been approved as safe, or words like that, but I need to watch the video recording because surely I must have misunderstood that???

Help me find any good in this. I guess it might be slightly nicer to wait out a rainstorm in this building instead of the bike shed of a nearby building?
