Burning Gas Pollutes So Much, Dirty EV Battery Manufacturing Evens Out In About 2 Years

Reply in thread

Old muscle cars converted to EV I think are so cool. There was a show that converted an old K10 truck and hid the batteries in the bed tool box.
A 80s station wagon, a Country Squire, or 70s luxury cruiser like a Cadillac or Lincoln would be awesome.

EVs, or just newer cars in general, are just so boring and cramped. Not to mention all the connection and surveillance concerns.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice

She is fighting some battles.

I keep suggesting this game to people. The story is pretty short, mechanics straight forward and game play very linear. But it is a ride. Do not read about it; no reviews, no strategies. Put on some good surround sound headphones, turn out the lights, and let the game carry you away.
One of the few games I've finished then immediately restarted.

Putting on your seatbelt and not using your phone while driving is now considered a "challenge"?

Maybe riding a motorcycle has made me hypersensitive to it, but it seems, yes. I see all of you and so many of you are on your cell phones while driving. It's bad enough I've learned to spot you from a hundred yards behind; the subtle drift of your car, checking your speed with the brake pedal, you aren't smooth in stop & go traffic.
It apparently is a challenge for a lot of you to stay off your phones, a-fucking-lot of you. So it looks like WisDOT is speaking to many of you like children, because many of your fellow drivers are acting like children, unable to prioritize operating their 3,000lbs+ machine safely over Instagram/tik tok/Twitter or whatever the fuck.

Hamas carries out public executions after returning to the streets of Gaza

Powerful local families and armed gangs – including some anti-Hamas factions backed by Israel – stepped into the void. Many are accused of hijacking humanitarian aid and selling it for profit, contributing to Gaza’s starvation crisis.

Nahed Sheheiber, head of Gaza’s private truckers union, said Hamas was acting against gangs that had terrorised people in areas controlled by Israel.

“Those gangs looted aid and killed people under the protection of the [Israeli] occupation,” he told The Associated Press, saying they operated in so-called red zones where Israel had ordered people to evacuate. The Israeli military did not respond to a request for comment.

[...]

Residents of the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity out of security concerns, said the gang, led by Hussam Doghmush, was known to loot aid convoys and rob abandoned homes in areas controlled by the Israeli military. They said Doghmush was among some two dozen people killed in the clashes with Hamas, including a local journalist and a son of a senior Hamas official based outside Gaza.

Hamas-linked Telegram channels said Hamas had targeted “collaborators and traitors” working with Israel. The Hamas-run Sahm security force, which says it targets looters and other criminals, shared footage that appeared to show its forces killing eight people execution-style in the streets as people cheered. It said the detainees were gangsters.

They keep people in the car better during a rollover event.

Even more effective is a little known technology called a seat belt. Windshields have been laminate for a while. Side windows are supposed to be tempered so that shatter into tiny pieces.

Why in Sci-Fi they always use Marine or Naval terminology and structure instead of Aviation for the spaceship structure, navigation and military ranks?

Reply in thread

That's always been my take. The Navy has the experience with big-ship operations, and operating smaller craft from those large ships, and it's supply and logistics would likely evolve from ocean to space faring ships.
The Marines are historically an amphibious force, an extension of the Navy, specialized in ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore operations; ship-to-surface would be the evolution of that.

Even wealthy Americans are struggling to make ends meet

Hmm... there's a big difference struggling to make ends meat and > A significant share of wealthier Americans are coping with financial pressure by cutting spending, including dialing back restaurant visits and entertainment.

That's not struggling, it's being irresponsible. I make over 6 figures and live in Southern California, and my only hard ships are self induced... motorcycles, motorcycle parts (I don't need three motorcycles), gun parts, car parts, going out to eat, driving an old truck, new tools and beers ain't buying themselves.
You cannot make me sympathetic for the wealthy with stupid headlines.

No, RoboCop 2 is alright. RoboCop is probably my favorite movie. RoboCop 2 is good, not as deep, not as gratuitous, nor perfectly campy as the first but good enough for a watch. 3 is not, don't waste your time... Even Peter Weller didn't come back.
The remake totally missed the mark; had some interesting ideas and callbacks to the originated but didn't know how to capture the tone and thought of the original and took itself too seriously.
