Jeremy Irons irons.
For our Baltimore readers:
Thur is no urn in the urn you use to urn shirts. This is, urnically, both urnic and un-urnic.

Translation: We at Buc-ees want to be in shithole states that ruin local businesses and give us kickbacks
Bucees sucks. I hate going into them. There are 10000 gas pumps that are always occupied and trying to get around the parking lot is a hazard. Inside is even worse with 1,000,000 lumen fluorescent lights and being packed full of gawking people.

How good is your intuition?
I am cursed with people asking my advice, my advice being correct, them failing to heed my advice to their detriment. Time after time. People value my judgment, because it is pretty good, then proceed to do the opposite of it.
That probably sounds self absorbed, but it's not like I'm an oracle or anything. It's just usually fairly obvious stuff, but people are often irrational and do wacky things.

Americans who say they drink alcohol remains at record low, survey finds
Reply in thread
It depends. I have an occasional drink. Is it awesome for my health? No. Do I think that a drink every week or two has any noticeable effect on my health? No. Have I had problem drinking behaviors in the past? Yes. Was that detrimental to my physical & mental health. Absolutely. Moderation is the main factor here.

Purely a hypothetical question...
I've used that to reasonable effect on my relatives. "Trump is a Russian agent" "No he's not that was never proven" "Well, if he's not getting paid by the Kremlin, he's doing everything they would pay him for for free. So, does it matter?"
"No it doesn't matter" ok then you want russia controlling the us
"No hes doing a great job" gestures around generally

I hate how plausible this is
It says this works also for text copied from Claude and pasted into other applications. How is that possible? What degree of metadata storage is possible in text?

They said it'd even work if the text was substantially edited by the user, though. Maybe there's multiple layers of redundancy so it just degrades the watermark but it takes a lot of editing to completely dilute it.

Retirees 'stunned' as market turmoil over tariffs shrinks their 401(k)s
Clearly they just need to take their own advice:
No more avocado toast
Stop buying so much coffee out. Make it at home.
????
Profit.

Sure they will be. They'll look at the poll results, throw them in the garbage, and run Newsom like they were already planning to

The developers of PEAK, explaining how they decided on pricing for their game.
Little different for me:
$1 - 5 = $5
$6 - 12 = $10
$13 - 20 = $20
$21 - 50 = $50
$51 - 70 = $100
>$70 = $1000

The only thing keeping them on the train is the dehumanization of brown people in this country
Linda at the bottom there "I am pleased with the extralegal concentration camps, mass deportations, and arrest/abduction of citizens who just aren't white enough. The jackbooted thugs with no legal oversight or accountability are great. But what else has he done for me lately?"

WATCH: Macron interrupts Trump to correct him about Ukraine funding
This is how everyone should handle trump and his ilk at every opportunity. Talk over him, call him out on obvious lies, chuckle at him when he says idiotic things. Just generally treat him with disdain and derision. He has this hero status with his followers that could be chipped away at if he's the subject of serious, casual ridicule. Not the stupid, desperate, "mango mussolini" "lord cheeto" junk, but the stuff that makes him feel self-conscious and lash out like a stupid, bumbling old man. This has been the most successful rhetorical/propaganda strategy whenever people have employed it.

ADL defends Nazi salute

Anti-Defamation League. Basically a zionist organization that goes after anything they percieve as being anti-semitic. Their definition of anti-semitic typically seems to include vocally supporting Palestine & not supporting Israel.
Part of what makes this noteworthy is they call anti-semitism often in dubious cases where it is not present - so them defending Elon sieg heiling multiple times is unusual, but also likely a calculated move to not distance their organization from president musk's administration.

r/RedditAlternatives doesn't like a Reddit Alternative
As a 10+ year reddit user who has switched 98% to Lemmy, only checking reddit on my computer every couple days: Lemmy is completely fine, and I have seamlessly transitioned from Reddit.
Its userbase is more technical than Reddit's, and there's not as much content. But it is a perfectly good Reddit alternative. I find it isn't as addictive as reddit, which is awesome. I just wish there were more educational communities akin to AskHistorians, AskScience, etc.

“I betrayed my Party”: Ukrainian forces make public diary of killed North Korean soldier – photo
Full text of diary entry:
"I was raised in the nurturing embrace of the Party, studying without concern for anything in the world. There is more unknown love than love that is known and accepted. I didn’t know how to react to the happiness I was surrounded by.
Defending the homeland is the sacred duty of every citizen, and the greatest duty is to protect the nation, which is where my happiness lies. I wear the military uniform of revolution to protect the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. I was honoured with the opportunity to be promoted to sergeant major in my company. However, I betrayed my beloved Party, which had placed its trust in me, and committed acts of ingratitude against the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
The sins I’ve committed are unforgivable, but my homeland has given me a chance for redemption, a fresh start in life.
Now, I have no choice but to regain the trust I once had. I will go to the front lines in this operation and obey the orders of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Un without question, even if it costs me my life. I will show the world the invincible courage and sacrifice of the Red Special Forces (Red Commanders) of Kim Jong Un.
When we win the war and return to our homeland, I will submit a petition to the Party."
