Ah yes. The philosopher's sock. Sockrotates.

I had holes in mine so I took them to a tailor. "Euripides" he stated, "Eumenides?" I asked.

The skin mites on your left foot socialized and joined forces to shift your sock so they could share the most nourishing parts.
The right foot's ones may be more individualistic.

that's a special feature of hanes socks from walmart.

When I pointed it out to my wife and she just replied with, "I don't know what you want me to do with that information," I knew it was perfect for this community

The sock topologically rotates because it remembers the wash spin cycle and the dryer.

It becomes entangled.

Socks which disappear in the dryer, well, they just do the equivalent of rotating beyond gimbal lock, in hyperdimensional space, of which our reality is merely a 3D shadow.

... the 'quantum spin' theory of 'socks doing somewhat odd things'.

28

Right sock wants to spin the opposite direction so everything cancels out

Just get a new foot so this stops happening. I have some old, discount feet if you want one for cheap. Most are Australian, though I do have some Maltans in here, somewhere.

Pics? I may be interested, but I need to know if they are quality or not. Gotta make sure I'm not getting scammed.

Bro, this is the internet. If you want to look at feet, you can do that. Just don't look at kids' feet. That is unacceptable and I will have to contact the authorities, so I'll leave myself a post-it note or some shit.

It was just a set up for a very played out internet joke. You win some, you lose some I guess. It's all good. No worries.

Since I'm in North America will they route the other direction

1

This is due to the Coriolis effect. In the northern hemisphere the sock rotates clockwise, and in the southern hemisphere it will go counter-clockwise.

How you walk as well maybe. Get scientific about it and keep a notebook where you track the position and what you were doing at the time.

17

Your socks don't fit. Your right foot may be slightly bigger or maybe sticky?

Has the quality of the socks decreased? My last set of those was awful. (Switched to Tesco's workman's socks, last forever)

13

Can confirm -- i have the same socks and they fucking suck. They started wearing through in like 3 or 4 months. Trying out some Duluth socks.

I'm a dress socks guy, but yes, I have some old socks that were comfortable, the elasticity was perfect. New socks are either stiff, shitty elastic, bad material. I cannot find good ones anywhere, besides one brand in particular. I used to go to express or men's wearhouse and they had great socks (and boxers), and it's like those are t a thing anymore.

2

I use Tesco workman's socks (I imagine UK only) and step one underwear - really good, but have been advertising recently, so I don't know if they are enshiterfying.

I get kirky boxer briefs and I'm very much satisfied with them. Unfortunately I just went to Costco yesterday, and the odds I remember your suggestion the next time I go are incredibly slim, but maybe I will!

2

I know that struggle well. 5 years from now you'll remember the tip at a time and a Costco when you can finally use it...only to discover they've been discontinued mere months prior.

Such is life, we tried lol 🤷‍♂️

2

Why would you get them in any other color? I mean, every toe is a different color. That's not going to happen with black or blue socks.

There's a small beetle living in your shoe whose sole job is to slightly inconvenience you in any way possible. It has arrived on this method of podiatric torture.

8

If you are lost in the woods just follow the direction of your left sock otherwise you'll end up walking in circles. /s

Wait my left sock does this too, whether I wear my orthotic insoles+sneakers or my house slides, I thought I was the only one

7

Your left foot is probably slightly smaller than the right, so the sock is looser, and gets twisted.

It's common to have feet of different sizes. There's nearly a half size difference between mine.

1

You said "how you sit" which makes me think you're not walking much. Do you rub your feet on the floor, carpet, shoe, other foot, etc? Stimming like that can rotate my socks, but I don't have it happen when walking. I don't exactly rub them in the same way

5

I have a brand of shorts (Lucky) that I liked so I bought another pair several months later. Both rotate to the left during the day, about an inch and a half. No idea why. No other shorts I own do this. Is there a kinesiologist with a minor in sewing that I could talk to?

5

OMG, it's THOSE SOCKS

I have several multipacks of those, and while some of my other socks rotate around some, those light grey hanes with the large red letters will not stay put.

5

Is this inside your shoe or walking around in your sock feet. One of my feet turns out a bit (maybe due to a knee injury when I was a kid) and my sock would do this.
