Furious MAGA Customers Say They Got ‘Scammed’ by Trump Watches

Some MAGA supporters who paid for Donald Trump watches are seriously ticked off. The majority of reviews for GetTrumpWatches on Trustpilot give the company just one star, with some people complaining that it is a “scam.”

The timepieces are made by TheBestWatchesonEarth LLC and range from $499 to $2,999 per watch, or $5,389 for the “Ultra Mega Collector Set.” The president has been criticized for hawking them on cable TV as a government shutdown drags on over healthcare funding.

On Jan. 8 Lemme be Frank, from Switzerland—a country famed for its watches—wrote, “Absolutely horrible customer service. Do not buy any of these garbage products. Avoid like the plague!!”

“My daughters ordered a Trump watch and after 5 months of waiting have not received anything. It’s a shame this company is not holding to President Trump’s high standards. This was a present for my 80th birthday!” wrote one MAGA supporter on July 14.

Nope, no intelligence was found here.

This is the closest that recipient will get to a direct interaction with Trump. The only thing that could make it a more accurate analog would be their daughters getting sexually assaulted/harassed, and then called a liar who isn't attractive enough to get sexually assaulted.

105

It's crazy. Somehow he has gotten them to protect his ego over their own.

It's never him doing it, it's always someone else going against his wishes.

ROFLOL "But those things they kept saying about bad business practices applied to other people and not me".

Temu quality, Rolex prices. Sounds like a Trump enterprise to me.

Not super important but just to say, Rolex is far more expensive than these. The most expensive option for the Trump watch is still cheaper than the cheapest model of Rolex. And that’s assuming you can even buy it at retail value, which is impossible in most places. Most jewelry stores won’t sell you a Rolex unless you have purchase history with them, and as such used prices are often way higher than brand new.

Vintage is a different story, some cheaper vintage Rolexes can go for under 5k (and some rare ones can be exponentially more expensive too), but if we’re talking new, they’re all more expensive than these Trump watches.

There's a Trump tourbillon version going for 100k. Sold out btw

6
BurntWitsreply
sh.itjust.works

I mean, at least it has an expensive complication that somewhat justifies its price? Not that a tourbillon is worth 100k but it is still a very expensive complication. I wouldn’t put it past these guys to sell a quartz watch for 100k.

4
Ougiereply
lemmy.world

Fair enough, for sure a tourbillon watch will be more expensive, but 100k? I'm not into watches that much, how much is a good tourbillon these days? Not that this could ever be good, in fact I bet it doesn't even exist irl.

3

You can get a used Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Tourbillon for around 30k at the low end I think. Not saying JLC is the cheapest on the market (it’s definitely not) but they’re excellent watches without being too bloated in price for what you get. I’m sure brand new is a bit more expensive but if you can get a JLC for a third of the price, that’s saying something.

Fool me 10 times, shame on you. Fool me 11 times, big shame on you. This 12th deal better be damn good to make up for all that!

Do not buy any of these garbage products. Avoid like the plague!!

We all know most of these fools did not in fact avoid the plague.

87

"Avoid like the plague!!"

MAGA: Okay, got it, I'm gonna intentionally buy them just to try to piss people off with no regard for the safety of myself or others.

They've been treating these things like they treat the plague from the start, actually.

These people are un-teachable. This kind of immunity to learning from experience should be considered a mental illness.

78
lemmy.world

"I wish President Trump could be notified how bad this is..."

Even unteachable is somehow too charitable. In the middle of eating the shit he is spoon feeding them, they believe 100% that he has nothing to do with it and doesn't even know about it. These people are absolutely braindead.

God damn Joe Biden and those fucking demoncrats put shit in my mouth!

Yeah idk — we need a new word that eclipses 'ret*rd' for stupidity. It's time.

18

I listened to an interview with a Trump-voting farmer who was suffering because of tariffs. She knew tariffs were the problem. She stated repeatedly that tariffs were the problem. She could not bring herself to the logical endpoint in that ultimately this was Trump's fault, instead blaming "the government" for it. They are not ever going to be productive members of society unless they can be deprogrammed from the cult.

32

The mental gymnastics they're engaging in to separate "This company" from Trump himself, when the latter is actively promoting them on TV, just like he did with the sneakers sold by yet another opaque shell company with a complex ownership structure in the Carribean.

9

So granny doesn't get a gift for her birthday, and the little shits get to laugh about how they got granny steaming about something 'not real' like this. I think I found my new fun hobby for fucking with my maga family members.

No way. Who'd believe it? There's surely no precedent for this.

TheBestWatchesonEarth LLC lol That's such a scam name I can't understand how anyone wouldn't think it's a scam. It might as well be called TotallyLegitBusinessThatsNotAScam.

70

The name qualifies the mark.

Im sure all of these peoples information is used to target them for future "amazing opportunities"

4

Whoda thunk that a likely shell company called TheBestWatchesonEarth LLC wouldn't be trustworthy and competent??

53

I'd trust a shady domain a lot more than anything sponsored by Trump

19

Sounds like some joke name for a cartoon company.

Everybody that knows anything about watches knows these come from websites where you can design them in a browser, pick the components and have them shipped from China. Most of them had $50 Seiko NH35/36 movements. Good movements, but you can get them in a much better $200 watch.

They would vote for him again without question. They would just shrug their shoulders at the polls and write it off as someone else’s fault, convinced trump is getting to the bottom of it for them.

You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know… morons.

40

THEY STILL DON'T BLAME TRUMP. It's fucking incredible. They're literally incapable of thinking he could do something wrong.

32

Who are they blaming? The cheap watch maker, that everyone knows makes cheap watches and shouldn't be surprised at all that the watches that they made are cheap?

Gasp what horrible company would try to sabotage the president like that?

(/s ... in case it wasn't obvious)

7

I wish Pres Trump could be notified to what this company has done to customers.

Why does she think he can't be notified?

What makes her think he doesn't already know?

So many layers of cope.

I just saw the commercial last week. As an artist you can tell a lot about a person by what they make. Not one product Trump has made has been quality. They go to religion every week, where some asshole liar just lies to them for an hour or two, until they're so used to being lied to - they just can't tell the difference anymore.

You want less stupid suckers? Less religion.

the christian nazis want more stupid suckers. They want more religion.

There're solutions for this shit. You gotta stop supporting religions. All of them.

Even as a child I was puzzled as to why God finds blind faith virtuous. Among many other questions, the adults and preacher couldn't satisfy me. Figured I was just a kid and would understand later in life.

When you've had faith = virtue beat into your head from childhood, you're worldview is going to be stunted.

Something makes me doubt they were trying.

...jokes aside, most people in that sort of position don't want to convince you, they want to force you.

2

They honestly tried because they believed! These were white-bread Presbyterians, salt of the land, morons. But it's a hella indictment on your belief system when a 9-yo don't buy it.

1

It's not even uniquely American, it's the same right wing, nationalistic, authoritarian, traditional rhetoric used as everywhere else, it's just more religious believing countries like the US tend to be more susceptible to this type of ideology rhetoric because it usually uses the same language and feelings as religious belief.

Compare a maga politician's speech with a conservative preacher's sermon, the phrases and words and lack of justification through evidence. Faith, specifically Christian defined faith as belief without evidence, is negligent thinking those beliefs are justified knowledge and while many people can participate in religions without becoming extremists, it also leads to extremist cults stuff like David koresh, maga, Jim Jones, etc. it is also being worsened by the more liberal, less fundamentalist believers leaving churches or splitting to a different church like the recent Methodists schism.

Don't believe fairy tales or sermons or stories about money.

4

It's been a long time since I've called an image cursed, but that little fucker looks like it pissed on every brick of every tomb in Egypt.

5

Now let me see, where did I put my empathy for the people who got scammed? Ah well, it's probably the same place as their empathy for non white, non cis people is. Guess I'll never find it

Exemplary product from a Trump point of view then. A scam that relieved his followers of their cash in exchange for trash. He, as usual, is laughing all the way to the bank. This presidency is already stacking up to be far more lucrative than the last one.

14
lemmy.world

That's a hell of an understatement. He's more than doubled his net worth through his crypto scam, and all his spawn have become obscenely wealthy. Even Baron is now worth between $200M and $500M.

5

Money =/= worth. He has that much money. He isn't 'worth' shit. None of them are.

1

The thing about jokes like that, is that trusting you on your word, without checking for one's self, is what actual gullible people would do. Skeptics verify information, and to do that, they'd have to look up.

So if you say something like that and people look, they're not the gullible ones.

I know, I know, "I must be fun at parties."

3

Trump-brand products! 100% scam, or your money back!

Not sure who still buys Trump products other than people who want money to be taken away from them.

11
lemmy.world

At some point, the low quality of his products should call into question the quality of his leadership and direction.

10

We're talking about a guy who managed to run multiple casinos into the ground. Casinos. Businesses which at their core consists of people handing you money and you getting to keep between 25-50% of it on average.

On top of that, he was laundering gobs of money through them (the Taj Mahal for sure) and still couldn't manage to keep them afloat.

Running the Federal Government like it was part of the Trump Organization was one of the few promises he actually kept and boy does it show.

7

This isn't about quality, or at least that's not mentioned. Even worse, the watches aren't shipping at all.

6

I don't know for sure if it's this one specifically (probably not) but the Chinese are cranking out things just like this by the bucketload, nonstop. They'll make them to order with the options you specify, incorporate your own visual design elements, etc. for a small setup fee and then run off however many thousand of these you want for mere peanuts.

Edit: Actually, what I really want to know is if Trumpski paid his tariffs on his Chinese knockoff watches. I'll bet you he didn't.

I honestly don't even know what to think about people who buy cheap watches from a politician. If the watches are right twice a day, they're working as intended, so what's the problem?

Knowing Trump, these watches would magically be anywhere from 20 minutes to 7 hours fast, so they’d be accurate 0 times a day.
