I keep wanting to make "we are flocked" signs with arrows pointing at the cameras, but I don't know if I should worry about putting them up.

Look at his little face
The Golden-crowned Kinglet, their North American relative, weighs about the same. I see them somewhat commonly in the summer.

Those who are old enough, do you miss these days?

Predate doesn't only mean that someone lived and died before something else. I predate combined Taco Bell/KFC/Pizza Huts Kentaco Huts, but I'm also still living. Like Bill.

Meth seems to also be better when you walk erratically along the side of a busy road while holding your arms out and wiggling them.

I appreciate you, and you're right. But it was also helpful to realize that it wasn't just something inside me causing the discombobulation... It helps me see more clearly what i can work on.

What sensory overload bugs you the most?
I had a long call with some old friends the other day and was describing how I've been feeling unusually down for the last year or so without knowing why... and they said, hmm, does this have anything to do with how our entire country feels badly right now? And that was my light bulb moment. Not sure why that wasn't obvious to me, but I guess that's what friends are for.

Should Jon Stewart Run for President in 2028? The Movement Is Growing — and It’s No Longer a Joke
A lot of people here are condemning celebrity in US politics, and I get it... but at this point in time we might need someone who is already famous yet consistent and trustworthy. Stewart has shown himself to be a good person for decades. He's also politically informed, progressive, and whip smart.
We need a candidate who wants real change for the betterment of the working class. Somehow people thought that was Trump... I guess because he said he would be, a few times? And people were hoping hard? And not looking at his track record at all? Also racism? More importantly though: people didn't think that candidate was Harris, who got pushed through by the Democratic party and ran an uninspiring campaign. Those people didn't vote. Those people were excited about candidates like Bernie, who's track record on class issues is indefatigable. Those people could potentially be excited about Jon Stewart tearing shit down for the actually betterment of the poor, and might trust that he would try.
That's my read, anyway. A Mamdani could come along and stir up some real enthusiasm, but I think it's harder for a no-name without a proven record to win a national election. Last time that happened we ended up with Obama, and people still feel burned by his lack of progressive action.

It's Breathtaking How Fast AI Is Screwing Up the Education System
Unpopular opinion:
I am a public school teacher and I support public schools, but there have been a lot of issues with our education system for a long time. Talk to any kid with ADHD who had to sit through 12 years, and they are indicative of a larger problem. Our idea of school now is as a place that teaches kids to behave and mostly follow rote instruction. Wouldn't it be so much better if we were teaching kids to be creative thinkers, work well in groups, problem solve, and think critically about the information they're getting? We know that's what school should be, but maybe now we will be forced to go there. Yes, there will be issues like learned helplessness and certain skills being difficult to teach, but it's kind of exciting too.
Though it's also possible that public schools will close and only the wealthy kids will be well-educated... can we not, please?

A Black student was found hanging from a tree. Police say no sign of foul play
The family is seeking an independent autopsy. Do we know about how long that will take? Somehow, no matter the results, I doubt i'll continue to see much about this specific incident in national news, and I'd like to remind myself to check back in on this.

Check out your local May Day protests, too. Hopefully even bigger than today! I'm ready to do this every two weeks until we are prepared for a general strike.

Why Isn't News of Trump Building Vast Concentration Camps Being Treated as a National Emergency?
Curious as to why Common Dreams and others aren't using the term "Internment Camp"? I'm not trying to whitewash the present, but it does seem to me that a large number of people might feel that term "concentration camp" is a dramatization of the current situation. "Internment" is also awful but less loaded, and might get more people on board and thinking about this seriously. Thoughts?
Edit: Upon looking it up, I have a few thoughts. One, some say "internment camp" was white washing in the first place. Two, "internment camps" might specifically refer to U.S. Army run concentration camps during wartime. I'm still not really clear, though, and would love some additional insight.

Unions also call for strikes as a centralized authority, which the US populace completely lacks. When France had those huge labor strikes a few years ago it was all called for by 5 or 6 unions.
I tell everyone I know to sign a strike card at https://generalstrikeus.com/ but that platform is fully decentralized. Right now it takes several days for another 10K signatures, and the critical mass we're trying to achieve is 11 million. Yes, it's the best option I've found, and YES that rate will increase exponentially the more people who get involved, but is it efficient and timely? No, but it's the best we've got rn because the power of labor unions has been purposefully dismantled over decades.
