The number of comments glorifying this is shocking. Opium/laudanum/morphine/heroin is brutally addictive, life ruining, and opium dens were places of abject misery and horror.

No, I'm pretty sure petting opium won't get you high.

If you pet hard enough - and lick your hands afterward - it just might

So you're saying petting a cat while on opium will get me double high? Fuck yeah!

Can confirm, patting a cat while high as fuck on opium will make the high better, maybe not double, but definitely fully enhance the situation, just like being on MDMA or cocain and hanging out with a dog does the same.

Meth is made better with a bird, specifically one that loves screaming back at you.

Acid is made better by fish in a fish tank or pond.

Meth seems to also be better when you walk erratically along the side of a busy road while holding your arms out and wiggling them.

I've done it a few times by doing something with seeds that I won't talk about. It feels amazing. Having an emotional support animal is awesome, especially if you have a nice place to crash out. I wouldn't suggest it if you have an addictive personality.

It's crazy good actually. First time I did opium I realized that I had never actually been comfortable before in my entire life. There's always a base level of pain and discomfort that is just there, being normal.

Of course, for anyone that needs to hear it, opiates push that pain floor up, so you constantly need more and your off-drug perception of "normal" becomes physically worse as your body adapts. Don't do opiates.

Most places started washing the seeds, which don't have any latex on them naturally, but the latex can get on them in the milling process. They had some like high school kids kill themselves doing massive amounts and they started washing them, at least in many places.

Oh sick I used to do that with wrapping paper tubes as a kid

Hmm...I never considered this as a retirement plan but It seems nice!

something tells me petting a kitty while being high would feel marvelous

Not for the kitty it wouldn't. The poor thing in that photo clearly wants to get the hell outta there.

Uh, no. If that cat didn't want to be there, it wouldn't fuckin' be there. Dude's high AF on opium, he couldn't stop that cat if he wanted to and it would be a bad idea for him to try it in any case.

You can't possibly make that assessment from a still photo.

No shit. The dude's hand is not clenched. Kitty has a funny face, but he doesn't seem tensed.

21

The man probably just held on to the kitty while slightly rolling to get a hit. Then when he is done he would have probably roll out more even and give the cat appropriate chin scritches.

4

Maybe it was the Victorian-era flash going off in a dark opium den that freaked the kitty out?

You're projecting, that cat is high AF from second hand opium, he doesn't wanna go aaannnnyyywhere

And we now know catnip acts on opioid receptors in their brains, so it makes sense to me that this cat would want to stay her and chill sans 1800s flash like u/homes mentioned

7

Wait, we know that catnip works on opiate receptors in their brains?

I wonder how it hits them, and if it hits other receptors. I always figured cats have special crazy receptors that makes them look like they see ghosts when they get in a mood, and catnip works on that.

Plenty of other plants will hit opiate receptors kind of sideways while it's main action is elsewhere, iboga for instance but there are others.

2

The reason to feel bad for the kitty is that it's most likely there because it gets a contact high from the opium. Which is just depressing.
