So, the real elephant in the room is that for the average worker, they are more productive (ie, working much harder) and under much, much more financial stress... which effects epigenetics

in the 1950s, a man could work at a factory with a high school diploma, own a house, support a family, and have a wife as a full-time assistant at home

now both parents have to work, if there even are children, there may or may not be a house, and many are just single. people are under huge amounts of stress, and all of it effects epigenetics including via weaker bonds within families

bodies interpret stress as either "uh oh, i'm going to get kicked out of my tribe and will have to forage and hunt on my own and may die" or "there may be a famine soon"

the fact that the vitamin levels of food has gone down is a real thing, bodies remember things like that, and can be aware of the decrease, and start to prepare for famines

TLDR captialism without proper government regulation of externalities is making people fat along with higher populations and decreased vitamin levels in food due to over-farming

People have died due to the greed and corruption of the leadership of Boeing. The people at the top have in fact gotten huge financial rewards by taking actions that were likely to kill people. I really dislike how in Chinese society people are not able to criticize the government. I hope one day, everyone everywhere will have free speech. In a situation like this, it would be good to hear what they have to say. I've dealt with depression before.

People will say they want to support you and want to know what's going on. If you describe a problem, the person listening almost always offers a solution. If you start to explain why their solution won't work, they almost instantly get super annoyed and may suddenly become unavailable the next time you call.

People want to think of themselves as the type of person who would be supportive of a depressed person, but most "supportive" people who feel this way still adhere to normal social mores and expectations and get pissed or annoyed when a depressed person doesn't follow them. It's also super hard for a depressed person to simultaneously discus their depression and adhere to unwritten social niceties.

If I as a depressed person keep my feelings to myself, if I get better I still may have friends and if I die at least some people may show up to my funeral. If I lean on non-depressed people for support, they will expect normal social responses that adhere to unwritten codes and will get annoyed, the result being for me at best fewer friends and at worst a cremation with no one who cares about the ashes.
