how do I fix this. Be honest, how bad from 1-10?

Very cleanable

If you have the time, try organizing in phases to make it feel less overwhelming:

  1. Find all books & place in one spot
  2. Find all loose clothes & place in a hamper
  3. ...
  4. Organize books into a 'keep' pile and a 'give away' pile
  5. Put clothes in washing machine, if available

If you're struggling, do 1 phase per hour, or per day, or per week -- based on any restrictions you have.

Best of luck!

Should i seriously just be spam applying for jobs and internships?

Send as many applications as you can, yes, but ensure you're spreading them out across companies. Also, if you have a social network, leverage it as much as possible. Or, speak with recruiters in your field.

I have decade+ experience in my field and only got ~5% response rate over a year. In fact, my now boss bypassed their HR to hire me because they couldn't manage thousands of applications.

The job market fucking sucks right now.

All my classmates are using AI and I hate it

I hear you. The bigger issue is that companies are now giving technical interviews that previously would be a 2 week long in-house project, but now demand "proficient candidates" complete within 3-4 hours. They compromise by saying, "you can use any chatbot you want!"

My interpretation is that the market wants people to know enough about what they're doing to both build AND fix entire projects with chatbots. That said, many organizations are only selecting for candidates who do the former quickly...

"Seel professional help" but how the fuck do you know who to choose?

Do you have a guess on the underlying issue(s)? E.g., trauma (intergenerational, complex, or acute), issues related to neurodivergence (ADHD or ASD), psychiatric conditions (bipolar, schizophrenia, etc).

If so, filter out therapists that don't list the issue as something they treat. Then call them and ask if they have specific training for that issue. A "reputable" therapist should point to a specific training program or certification that you can research. If they say something like, "I'm comfortable talking about that issue but have no training in it," look elsewhere.

The bigger thing to consider: finding a therapist is a match making process. You may have to go through multiple therapists before you find one that helps. Even something as small as communication style is a valid reason to find a new therapist.

Best of luck!

I thought Mturk was primarily used for labeling data for ML models, i.e., "here's data. Look at it and give it a label according to our specifications". Do they have a component of Mturk for piloting devices?

Would you keep seeing a doctor that required to you agree to the use of AI in your treatment to continue being a patient?

The "fine print" you added doesn't say the automated transcript will be used for training a model. I'd highly, highly doubt HIPAA protected clinic notes would be use for training an LLM. If they did, the clinic would go bankrupt from lawsuits.

Also, if they only use AI for automated transcription, would you feel the same instead of "AI" it were a dedicated automated transcription tool?

If you abhor all things AI, your feelings of not continuing with this clinic are valid. However, I don't think they are using AI in ways you think they are.

I think many behaviors are being conflated here: externalizing behavior vs internalizing behavior. People may react to the post with a notable experience from one of those.

E.g., if someone was recently chewed out by a Chad or Karen because some unknown events activated their externalizing survival strategies, it's more difficult to feel compassion for them -- and easier to dislike the post. OTOH, there can be people who self isolate and withhold their preferences to avoid activating events, because they tend to internalize negative emotions.

I don't think the post is encouraging us to enable bad behavior, but reflect on others' experiences. I can feel compassion for people in my life who have been hurtful to me, but simultaneously not want to interact with them to protect myself.

Woah, I had never considered that. To think, all these years I was on the side of "initial index is 1." I've unknowingly been using "initial index is 0," since I started using numbers.
