I'm not as anti-AI as the rest of this place but I am 100% in favor of being honest about it.
I found a mod passing off AI generated images as authentic, vintage sci-fi covers. I asked why they were mixing them together and was not only banned but they deleted my comment.

Georgia families face losing their homes to make way for AI data centers: "It's theft"
Some families in Georgia are being forced to sell their homes or face government seizures to make way for powerlines. 70-80% of that power is needed for AI data centers.

New York has become the first US state to place a moratorium on the construction of data centers, The Washington Post reported. Governor Kathy Hochul signed an executive order pausing environmental permits for large data centers (consuming more than 50 megawatts) for up to a year. That would give state officials the required time to create rules protecting the electrical grid, environment and local communities.
"New York will lead the way in creating the strongest standards in the nation for data center development, ensuring that when companies succeed because of New York, New Yorkers succeed too," said Hochul at a press conference. The order will take effect immediately and not affect projects that already have the required permits.

It's not even accurate, there's no laughter or applause, just music. If your LLM is so amazing, maybe have it recognize something is instrumental music and therefore not needing transcription? what a waste
[Question] Anyone know if there's tech companies that are ether actively anti-AI or local-model-only? Getting tired of stuff like "Claude usage is a KPI!"

How infuriating. He's in among the bros who hedged so much on fucking crypto believing they'll "hit the moon".

My workplace is fully embracing AI in the worst way possible
small rant incoming
I work for a company that it's mostly hardware focused, but we do ship some software for the final consumer including drivers and programs, to make use of said hardware.
While I am not in the software department, I held some SWE positions in previous companies for over a decade, our software isn't very complex and I do know most of it pretty well.
Our employee just announced a new AI-only development cycle, they want all code submissions and reviews to be exclusively done by claude, effectively ending ownership of the code being shipped to customers. This is absolute madness.
Today, I received an email scheduling a workshop on how to integrate claude into vscode and how to work with the new gitflow, namely removing our authorship from commits and having al code reviews done by a LLM now.
I am just baffled at the decision.
edit: wow I'm a bit overwhelmed by the response, I did read all of you. Thanks!
