Never understood the idea of, "if it needs to be fast, that part is in a faster language." Why not just use the faster language? Most of the libraries that have Python wrappers also come with c headers. Sometimes you wind up in the reverse situation where your dependency doesn't have a Python wrapper and now you're stuck managing silly boilerplate. Python just feels like an extra thing in the way to wrangle for little gain.

I don't think it's the propaganda machine (or maybe this is), but in the US, almost nothing is reported from other countries. If 100,000 people died in some wild natural disaster outside the US, we would get almost no real details, but we would get the full life story of the one American that was killed who was from New Jersey. It's just the way our media is. No real information. Just dumb sap stories.

My company hired a consulting firm to help with a transition period. The consulting firm sent my boss an email that outlined the plans for what we should do and how they are going to help. Without directly giving it away, the email was clearly AI output, and my boss instantly terminated their contract. It doesn't seem to be as well known, but YouTube is one of the biggest distributors of blatant disinformation, and they have done fuck all about it. There are so many individual right wing disinformation channels that wield so much more power than they should. It's so fuckin insidious. Seriously, go find one of the alt-right YouTube accounts, and just look at the comments. Not a single one will be negative. They literally police their comments, and the only thing left is sycophantic bullshit like "thank you for exposing the truth!" It's actually disgusting. Every YouTuber can essentially build their very own echo chamber, and they do.

I know YouTube comments should generally be ignored, but when you see something that is intentionally, blatantly misleading, a single sentence comment could be all that is required to pierce the veil. It's axiomatic at this point that their bullshit doesn't stand up against even surface level scrutiny.

Google could combat this with little to no effort. Put a flag next the username. Display the number of manually deleted comments. Done. But they won't. Fuck youtube. Fuck Google. They are perfectly happy to lead the charge into fascism.
