I wish there was a budget, say 200 Euros, phone that supported grapheneOS. I never buy a more expensive phone than that, as I find phones in that price range more than enough...

I could never get used to that sort of app. Be it Twitter, bsky, or even mastodon. If I follow people, my feed gets so much content that I consider spam.

Say, there is a person that is awesome and occasionally posts interesting things. But also posts random spammy stuff, like "just took a shower. I feel so clean!". Why am I wasting my time reading that sort of content?? I think there are 0 people in the world from which I want to read 100% of their content. Maybe very very very few. So, it doesn't make much sense to follow people, and then waste hours scrolling content about which I don't care.

I could follow tags, but they still get so much spam and so I still have to scroll and scroll..

It is just not for me.

I made a post recently, wondering what we could do to get a larger userbase on lemmy. Many people kept saying "why larger? This size is good", even though I stated my reason for wanting a larger userbase in the OP.

This post, right here, also shows a benefit of having a larger userbase and something I miss from reddit: actual research scientists coming to the comments explaining the paper and whatnot. I think decreasing the distance from research scientists to the general public is a good idea. And I want them on lemmy. I would love for lemmy to be a little bit less memes and a little bit more... Serious.

Lemmy is so much more performant than reddit.. It is crazy! Try going to reddit's deskop site and then go to a Lemmy site..

Also, reddit is now blocking VPN users, unless you are logged in...

It is still important to support the better project, be it with our attention, or with our money/donations. What "better" means here depends on the metric.

Yes, I use mullvad VPN on Linux. It works fine. You don't need their client, of course, but it is good.

I find Lemmy much more ethical. It truly is by the community, for the community.

I disagree with this take. The effects of climate change are not binary.

There is no doubt that we are feeling the effects of man-influenced climate change. However, that does not mean that we should just give up. There is a difference between +1.5c and +2.0c. It is a fight worth fighting for.
