Michigan residents voted down a $16 billion Stargate AI data center, then construction began anyway

I drove past the construction site every day. They call it "The Barn" after hiring a marketing firm to come in and try to make it more appealing. It's massive and just gets bigger and bigger. iirc they got permission to begin construction before it was approved, then the zoning drama began. There's now a razor wire fence around the perimeter and the area is patrolled by state cops during the day. Clearly they know the situation.

The worst thing is I constantly get targeted ads about the construction. The ads say "we'll pay for the giant increase in energy consumption" and "it'll help reduce costs for everyone!" which is obvious horseshit. What costs are gonna go down, how will they be reduced? Energy costs? Fuel costs? Taxes? The marketing firm knows people are stupid enough to believe anything, even sentences that don't make any fucking sense.

When you're at a fast food drive thru and they offer to round up for a charity cause, YOU can claim that write-off donation on your taxes, not the restaurant. Of course virtually nobody would do that unless you save your receipts and tally them up next year... but you can!

That gourmet luxury blend...

I worked a contract job at a honey bottling plant in Mich where they would simply take 55 gallon drums of raw honey from all over the world, dump them into a giant tank, churn it up.... then bottle it. That's was it, nothing more nothing less. At one point in the past they used to add water, but they had stopped when I was installing the new mixing system (it was a patent thing). Makes me shake my head to see companies adding anything else to such a simple operation...

I can't disagree.

I have a GM vehicle with lane tracking, and this is actually kinda how it works! The steering wheel will mildly fight you unless you activate the signal, then BAM you merge right over. It reminds me of an AT-field
