Seattle to install hundreds of curbside EV chargers

A charge would merely put a low price on misuse. Better to prohibit overuse by rules, and tow rulebreakers

How to gain weight from eating almost exclusively bread and potatoes?
Reply in thread
On a calories per dollar-ratio, oil is probably at least one quarter of the price of potatoes.
The difference in electricity costs is not going to be significant in the context since you'll make back the money on the calories you ingest from the oil instead of more potatoes.
Cooking potatoes in oil is also very significantly less miserable than eating boiled potatoes, and this is coming from someone that actually likes boiled potatoes quite a bit

Spotted these bars in Lidl
This bad boy is where it's at when it comes to quark at Lidl.
The value is unmatched when trying to get protein in. Cheaper than whey even, and with higher satiation to boot being primarily casein.
It also happens to taste quite good, especially the passion fruit flavour, which I didn't find an image of.

Cutting the Cost of Digital Reading
I bought a Kindle Paperwhite 2 back in 2014, and by a weird magic trick, this was the last time I ever spent any money on digital reading.
Honestly I've gotten sick value out of this thing, it just keeps on living

"Collision" is too harsh a term, let's call it "passing too close"
Reply in thread
The article contains video evidence of the driver aggressively honking then starting to pass with basically zero space to the group of cyclists, then colliding with one cyclist who subsequently crashed. The cyclist got injuries to his vertebrae, but has thankfully made what appears to be a full recovery.
The driver seems to be under the delusion that he did nothing wrong, and that he will "take it all the way to the supreme court".
I think imprisonment is arguably warranted here.

Yes. They only reduce the volume, they don't eliminate sound entirely. Alarms are still fully audible and effective at waking you up.

VAT is applicable for all purchases regardless of the de minimis-limit.

This is above the de minimis-limit, so you would always have had to pay tariffs for this purchase.
As to why, it's just quite simply how tariffs work.
EDIT: Seems like you're not even actually paying tariffs on the purchase under applicable trade agreements with Japan, it's quite literally just the VAT - so I'll restate: this is just how VAT works
