You're monthly grocery bill is 4 figures?! Every month?! Holy hell! I spend $130 USD a month on groceries. What the hell are you eating that costs so much?! are you eating 10 times as much as I am?!
It would. For me, I only read DRM-Free and classics, so I never pay anyway. But I do know some hardcore readers that spend that much on books. I don't think it's the majority at all though.
Shaming people for spending more on groceries than beans and rice. It's common on reddit, and I'm sick of it. Costs have been going up and up, and for some people it's impossible to avoid spending more than the hardcore thrifters think is acceptable.
If we're going to insist on spending less than $1.40 per meal (which I frankly outright don't believe) - or just not admit how much you eat out - then maybe people spending money on books should look into something called a library.
You think me asking someone about their grocery bill was "shaming"?! LMAO
Maybe you should read the whole thread. He was not shamed and he mentioned that it's for entire family and a dog. It was a discussion. Not purity-testing. The fact that you view it as somethig else, is sooo weird to me.
If stuff like that makes you upset, oh boy, you must get upset about a lot of things every day. Good luck out there, and I hope you stay safe! 🤣

I bought a Kindle Paperwhite 2 back in 2014, and by a weird magic trick, this was the last time I ever spent any money on digital reading.
Honestly I've gotten sick value out of this thing, it just keeps on living
I feel the same way. I don't buy any ebooks, because I only read free stuff anyway, and I still don't have time to read it all!
But I do see the prices of works out there, and it can get kinda crazy.
Article is lame, but also:
Fucking hell that's a lot of books. My monthly grocery bill comes close to the 4 figure range. Is this for real?

That's for a family of 3 and a dog, and not just food - I'm including everything that we buy from the shop like household products etc.
Ahhh, ok, that makes more sense then.
Even $130 a month on books would be a lot of books! :)

God, I hate comments like this.
