German friends told me they were eating this and I had no idea what the hell they were talking about. TIL!

German cheesecake (Käsekuchen) is made with Quark and is IMHO the best in the world. The right balance of tart and sweet.
To be fair, you're eating quarks no matter what you're eating.
Oh, another thought: the proton is the only subatomic particle with its own taste. (Hint: it tastes sour.)
Is that because it’s acid?
Correct: acid in the biological context means free hydrogen ions. A hydrogen ion is a proton, and the fundamental taste of acidity is due to hydrogen ions interacting with specific membrane proteins on your tongue.
Ah yes. The dairy product. Not the Ferengi bartender.
More like "rules of lactation," amirite?
I am not a gluon so I avoid quarks.
Why? It's a great place to hang out
I'm composed of quarks! What should I do?
Wait till you find out about Schmand :)
Schmand: like crème fraîche but with 150% more atherosclerosis!
I've never heard of this one either! How do you like eating it?

It is rather close to sour cream. They can replace each other without major issues.
It's typically known as ‘sour cream’ in English-speaking countries, although apparently the specific product can differ.
In Eastern Europe, it can be added to soups, particularly borscht; works well in some burrito-style wraps (shawarma, spring rolls and such) and on sandwiches, instead of mayonnaise, ketchup or whatever. Or better yet, it goes nicely together with tomato sauces, hot sauces or mustard, especially if not mixed but put next to, so both sauces are tasted together.
But especially, you want to get some crepes, wrap marinated mushrooms in them, and dip into sour cream mixed with strawberry jam. It's fantastic.
Is nice! Great light weight version of quark :3
It's quite popular in Sweden for its high protein content, served basically in the same way you would serve any yoghurt.
My German friend says they mix quark and protein powder together for massive gains 💪
I want to try it at some point, but I have a feeling the texture will make me gag (I can't do cottage cheese, either).
It's very unremarkable. If you've had cottage cheese or farmer's cheese, you'll be entirely unsurprised by its flavor. The texture isn't at all like cottage cheese, though. It's smooth, almost like a cream cheese.
The Wikipedia image looked watery which was the part I didn't like. Cream cheese is fine IMO
It can be tricky to find in the US. It also sometimes is called farmer's cheese. It's like a funkier cream cheese. It's really good for making dips with
Love it. Slice of bread, Quark and Stips on it, flashbacks to childhood.
Stips?

Quark und Saft gibt Kraft.
Works really well as a low calorie / fat white sauce (I use it sometimes for lasagne)
...why arent you using a bechamel??
As per previous comment. Lower calorie / fat. With a beschmel I would be adding cheese etc
Very cool! I typically see ricotta for lasagna but they seem similar enough.
🤢
I'll pass
Even when made into this ?
never have liked cheese cake
if you like it, more power to you and there is more for you because I wont have any!
But, I made way too much 😭
Vegan cheesecake is worth trying, I’ve always hated dairy cheesecake.
It's just some slightly different bacteria than yogurt and a bit more cream. What's not to like?
Edit: wait, Wikipedia describes fresh cheese instead?
I hate cottage cheese but also I am lactose intolerant, so the whole thing just gives me the "that is bad" vibes
More for me!
NOT IF I EAT IT WITH PICKLED CHERRYS AND APPLE COMPOT FIRST!!
We could share.... Mmmmm compot.
Self made! And ye we could :3
Or milk rice :p
Your loss :) More for us!
