LOL

I once searched "best workstation keyboard" and happened to glance at the summary, and it legitimately was trying to compare mechanical typing keyboards like Nuphy and Keychron, with music keyboards like Yamaha's Montage and Roland's Fantom. Which, NGL, was pretty entertaining.

I'd ring that

My buddy says "chasm" with a soft ch. We've tried to correct him. He doesn't hear us. He also pronounces "tome" like "tomb".

We play DnD together if anyone was wondering why these words would come up with any regularity.

If AI was all it was cracked up to be, it wouldn't be shoved in your face 24/7

Long ago, I'd make a Google search for something, and be able to see the answer in the previews of my search results, so I'd never have to actually click on the links.

Then, websites adapted by burying answers further down the page so you couldn't see them in the previews and you'd have to give them traffic.

Now, AI just fucking summarizes every result into an answer that has a ~70% of being correct and no one gets traffic anymore and the results are less reliable than ever.

Make it stop!

I'm intrigued

An ex and I were on a bus trip to a city about an hour away from where we lived while we taught English in Korea. The subject of there being a "subway" in said city came up randomly. She said she thought she had seen one the last time she was there. I had been there more times than she had and said there was no subway. She doubled down. No, she was quite sure she had seen one near the university. I doubled down, I've been there quite a few times. There's no way they have a subway. It's not even big enough for one! It got pretty heated. This went on for some time. Feelings were hurt.

She was talking about the sandwich restaurant, and I was talking about underground trains. We were both right.

THEY'RE EVOLVING

That's cool. Mud daubers are extremely chill and will only sting you as an absolutely last resort. They also are great at keeping the spider population down. Which I'm a little torn on because I love spiders since they eat mosquitoes, and mosquitoes can fuck off and die afaic.

Im a weekly showerer

I've been a night showerer and a morning showerer throughout different periods of my life. These days I'm actually closer to a lunch showerer - which I realize isn't practical for most, but it's the superior method if one showers only once a day.

What is a big internal debate within a fandom or hobby you are a part of that outsiders probably wouldn't care about?

Synthesizers: digital vs analog.

Common opinion holds that analog (specifically oscillators, but also filters and even VCAs [voltage controlled amplifiers]) are warmer and more natural sounding while digital are cold and harsh.

The thing is, digital emulation of analog hardware has become virtually indistinguishable from the real thing, but there is a certain segment that refuses to believe their $5000 Minimoog can be so easily replicated by software (realistically I doubt Bob Moog could tell the difference anymore).

Of course some also choose to argue which is better, which is just ridiculous because they both have their uses depending on what kinds of music you're composing or just what sounds you're trying to make.

Every. Single. Time.

Windows is so full of stupid little shit that should have been fixed years - if not decades - ago. Sleep mode broken, folder customize options don't apply to subfolders despite offering that choice, the OP. Sigh.

ESL homework

Haha! I am an ESL teacher in Korea. One of the funniest things I've had a student submit was about their family's favorite foods. A student somehow managed to translate "chicken" as "cock". More than one of their family members liked "cock" a whole lot.
