woke rule

I don't know if I play any games advertised as woke, but I would certainly play any game that just happens to be so.

Advertising it feels like they're focusing too much on the wrong things to be making a creative work that I would enjoy.

When topics are hamfisted into a game it feels yucky. There are always clever exceptions though.

UK Woman Mistaken As Shoplifter By Facewatch, Now She's Banned From All Stores With Facial Recognition Tech

Facial recognition still struggles with really bad mistakes that are always bad optics for the business that uses it. I'm amazed anyone is still willing to use it in its current form.

It's been the norm that these systems can't tell the difference between people of dark pigmentation if it even acknowledges it's seeing a person at all.

Running a system with a decade long history or racist looking mistakes is bonkers in the current climate.

Republican Nancy Mace says she likes to watch videos of ICE detaining people

I think thats the sickest part. She could have said she delights in seeing violent criminals getting rounded up. She could say anything really. Its not like honesty is required of her (in her opinion).

Instead she admits she delights in seeing them interfere with the system. If she was referring to immigration court then these are people doing exactly what we ask of them. If this is criminal court, they are already caught and there isn't a need to abduct them from the courthouse.

CRISPR used to remove extra chromosomes in Down syndrome and restore cell function

I work with special needs adults. Your experiences, while valid, with many of those that arent so disabled that they actually can engage with society, do not represent those with more extreme versions of this disability.

Often they will never get to experience the fullness of life they could without. Basically, people with Downs who dont have caretakers with means are fucked pretty hard.

Of the 6 I interact with daily, I think they all would rather not have the disability, and 2 have said they would trade places with the guy in the wheel chair that has seizures sometimes, but is otherwise living a normal life.
