Gf wants baby

Man, i can't deny that you have a valid point, but from a practical standpoint: does it matter, if it makes you happy?

I was never on the fence about wanting kids. I had a shitty childhood and my guiding purpose was always to rectify that by making sure my kids grew up with the support and resources they needed that I didn't have. And I sacrificed a lot to make that happen - while all my friends were enjoying their 20s, I was grinding my career, hard, to make sure I could pull it off.

I wouldn't go back and change a single thing. Yeah, the early years sucked. Yeah, it was a huge risk either way for my wife. Yeah, I could have traveled more or used all that money for stuff for ourselves. I think what I got instead was infinitely more valuable.

I'm sorry that we live in a bullshit world where financial constraints even make this a problem for people. Having kids should be a slam dunk easy decision if it weren't for those implications, and modern medicine has drastically lowered infant and maternal mortality (not enough to trivialize it, but it's not killing 30% of women like it used to).

The volcano is great, one of my favorite purchases ever. That said, anyone claiming it doesn't smell might have a skewed frame of reference. It won't stink up your apartment as bad as smoking for sure, but vaping flower absolutely smells like pot and it will be very noticeable if it's your daily driver and/or your landlord visits while you are using it. If it's just occasional use you may be fine but honestly this thing will become a daily driver. So fucking good. Makes pot last forever, even when my tolerance is high my wife and I can split a half gram and be sent to space.

Their portable dry vapes might be more up your alley. The Mighty is also excellent, but I haven't tried their smaller models.

Product placement seems to have found a way into books.

I don't feel that simply mentioning a product name is necessarily product placement. That said, this example is hilarious. It sounds like AI writing having trained on podcast sponsorships.

I think when the 'product' is something relevant ro the plot somehow it's best to just rename it, because otherwise it's gonna sound like an ad. But a character ordering a Coke at a restaurant or whatever is fine IMO.

Christian metal band sues netflix because google won't show them anymore.

Calling these turds out for being dumbasses doesn't mean we're defending Netflix. Netflix sucks. These guys suck. What is happening to these guys is hardly the result of Netflix's actions.

What I DO see a lot of on Lemmy is a lot of immature black-and-white thinking where the bad actions of one entity are used to assume that the opposite side are the good guys. Calling out bad behavior does not absolve the bad behavior of their opponents.

Cool Japan 🌸

The people defending this as 'not racism'... way to miss the point. If this was some BBQ joint in Texas with a sign that says closed in Spanish but open in English you wouldn't be posting these comments

An Indian company is trying to publicly shame a candidate for not accepting their offer

I can understand being frustrated here but how do you not realize how much worse you are making it by making this post?

This is going to happen every once in a while, every recruiter, hiring manager, and HR professional should know that. If it happens a lot it's because your interview process sucks and you are everyone's last resort if better jobs don't pan out. This happens much less frequently to employers people actually want to work for.

Gonna be hard to simply have a nice time when you get blindsided with a change of plans after you were probably very much looking forward to the date you thought was agreed to.

Scientists Figured Out a Standard Measure For Cannabis Use

Was a pain to find in the article but according to them, 1 cannabis unit is 5mg of THC. And they recommend no more than 8 per week, or 40mg. I didn't read the entire paper so take my commentary with a grain of salt.

I think there may be a bit of a hole in this methodology because of different consumption methods. For example, smoking a regular joint vs putting that same amount of flower in a dry vape. Or dietary factors that could increase or decrease thc absorption for edibles.

Even accounting for that, 40mg of THC is not a lot. A half gram joint at 10% thc would exceed that. Seems like these guidelines are incredibly conservative.

Entombed

I feel like this is somewhat disingenuous. Pre-industrial, low population, limited understanding of engineering - if you're simply consuming below replacement rate, you're sustainable incidentally.

That doesn't entitle you ro surprise them with an unannounced third party after you agreed to a date. If someone brought up wanting to do something in a group setting first, at least you're being transparent. But if surprised by it, my first thought isn't going to be that his person needed to feel safe, it's that they're angling for a free dinner for her and her friend.
