Americans walked from door to door and failed to find a family Vance's wife could visit before cancelled visit in Nuuk, according to Danish TV2

I'm proud of my inuit brothers and sisters. The Americans may finally fucking get the hint. Apparently it wasn't enough to see that one inuk rip up American dollars when those cringe American youtubers came to give out maga hats an free money earlier this year.

Trump and his subhumans thought that the greenland-denmark conflict would benefit them, but honestly, it's got nothing to do with them. We have tried to sort out our differences while America has been an annoying mosquito trying to make our relationship troubles about them. Dumbasses. Greenland is their own people. They are their own nation and someday it will be official, but we aren't there yet and while they have a lot of issues with Denmark, there's no doubt they prefer us over America until they can stand on their own feet. It was never a question.

Is It Just Me?

I feel the same way. I was talking with my mom about AI the other day and she was still on the "it's not good that AI is trained on stolen images, how it's making people lazy and taking jobs away from ppl" which is good, but I had to explain to her how much one AI prompt costs in energy and resources, how many people just mindlessly make hundreds of prompts a day for largely stupid shit they don't need and how AI hallucinates, is actively used by bad actors to spread mis- and disinformation and how it is literally being implemented into search engines everywhere so even if you want to avoid it as a normal person, you may still end up participating in AI prompting every single fucking time you search for anything on Google. She was horrified.

There definitely are some net positives to AI, but currently the negatives outweigh the positives and most people are not using AI responsibly at all. I have little to no respect for people who use AI to make memes or who use it for stupid everyday shit that they could have figured out themselves.

The most dystopian shit I have seen recently was when my boyfriend and I went to watch Weapons in cinema and we got an ad for an AI assistent. The ad is basically this braindead bimbo at a laundry mat deciding to use AI to tell her how to wash her clothes instead of looking at the fucking flips on her clothes and putting two and two together. She literally takes a picture of the flip and has the AI assistent tell her how to do it and then going "thank you so much, I could have never done this without you".

I fucking laughed in the cinema. Laughed and turned to my boyfriend and said: this is so fucking dystopian, dude.

I feel insane for seeing so many people just mindlessly walking down this path of utter retardation. Even when you tell them how disastrous it is for the planet, it doesn't compute in their heads because it is not only convenient to have a machine think for you. It's also addictive.

Seriously, I have been in a relationship for a decade and a half and some of the relationship advice I have seen men give other men on the internet the past several years tells me that they have never been in stable relationships themselves.

It also tells me that most of them have no clue what women want.

US asks countries to help lower soaring prices of eggs

Let me see... since new years you have threatened to annex Greenland, had Musk call our finest astronaut retarded, called our Prime Minister retarded, recently Roger Stone called one of our conservative politicians a sick demented asshole on Twitter when said politician asked for the general secretary of NATO to not joke about Trump and Greenland and... oh yeah, Trump and Vance attacked and insulted our dear friend, President Zelenskyj on world wide TV.

So...... how about no? Oh, I'm sorry: no, thank you.

So effective it made stupid people

Same shit with covid. People be like "it was a hoax because most people survived" and I just stare at them with no way of knowing how to explain to these geniuses the most basic shit about hygiene and physical distance and how it affects the spread of a potent new virus.

I have a couple of family members who are nurses. One of them being my MiL. She saw the early cases of corona up close and personal and she was very, very, VERY concerned. One of the first patients was a healthy man in his early 50s who was physically active and all that good shit. His lungs were completely destroyed by Delta. Had to get a transplant to survive. Was disabled for life due to other complications caused by the virus.

Every single person I have met who thinks corona was a hoax or doesn't take the virus seriously, are ironically also some of the least educated people on the matter. They also think they know better than medical professionals. They didn't see what this virus was capable of because people like my MiL worked themselves to the bone to save their ungrateful asses.

So when I come across these types in the wild, I just stare at them and think my thoughts about their level of intelligence and move on with my life. Must be nice to be this fucking stupid.

Buy American? No Thanks, Europe Says, as Tariff Backlash Grows.

Boyfriend asked me to buy detergent yesterday. Ariel specifically, and I looked up the company owning Ariel to make sure they weren't American, but they were, so I went with the local discount brand instead.

There are very few exceptions I have made where I still use American products, but for the most part, I avoid murican.

We had a comical example of the boycot over the weekend. In my city Burger King is right next to Sunset, which is a Danish owned fast-food restaurant. We were going on a longer trip and needed some fast and easy food along the way. We arrive. Not a single car in burger king's drive in. A caravan in Sunset's drive in. We were - no joke - stuck in that line for 40ish minutes. Not a single car gave in and switched to burger King. We all just waited patiently for our orders to come through.

Before new years it would have been opposite. There were always cars waiting outside of burger King while sunset was largely ignored. It's not that their food is bad. Actually, I have been pleasantly surprised after trying some of the items on their menu, but they were just seen as not a real fast-food brand before. McD and Burger King were the ones people trusted because they were the real deal.

But not anymore.

How can you tell 23 subgenres of equally shitty growls and screams apart, but not see the most Metal basics?

I don't know where this is coming from because I grew up in the era of Marilyn Manson, the Murderdolls and Dir En Grey (etc.) Where gender was some fluid shit and everybody vibed with it.

Even though I don't like them, I also remember Rammstein playing around with gender expression.

Overall, my personal experience with metal since teenhood in the 2000s is that metalheads are extremely chill and open minded and the bigots are some fringe groups here and there that nobody likes to talk to anyways.

Metal was about challenging the status quo and trigger the sensitive puritans who wanted everybody to conform one way of living and being. Most metaheads and metal artists were social rejects who didn't fit in and weren't accepted and they rebelled against the social structure at the time for that very reason. A couple of examples of the artistic expression in metal at the time:

Pretty sure Manson even brought on a trans icon in his video for The Dope Show which itself was a critique of the creative industry and how it uses and abuses people and forces them to be someone they aren't.

I self censor a ton on here, are you kidding me? I have blocked every news and politics related instance I could find and still, the instances that are left are filled with political brain rot from the most unhinged extremist black and white thinking leftists online.

The only reason I'm still here is because I have a small handful of instances that I actually enjoy frequenting, where people are trying to make a healthy environment to speak with one another and share thoughts and ideas that aren't always about politics.

The only true positive about Lemmy is that it isn't a corporate entity with carefully curated ads, algorithms and tons of bots. However, Lemmy is proof that the corporate model has trained us all so well over the past decade to think that being online is all about getting mad at politics and each other so we are basically perpetuating the bullshit trends they started like the brain dead lemmings we are.

To me Lemmy is no different than any other social media platform that thrives on hate, yet somehow thinks its unique and/or enlightened. It's a shame because there a lot of potential here to make something that unites people instead of continuing the echo chamber model that the big corporations have worked hard to put us all in because it earns them money to keep us angry with one another.

But whatever. All these "big thinkers" on here thinks their time is best spend screaming at each other and calling everyone they disagree with a fascist so who cares about trying to build a better online community? I'll keep blocking shit until I only have the productive instances left.

Have you changed you youtube pfp to clippy ?

Pff. This reminds me of the This Is Bob protest against the forced Google+ accounts that were the beginning of youtube enshittification. It didn't do shit. Anyone who wants a profile on youtube nowadays has a Google account. Google+ may have failed but the intent and mission behind it didn't. Google has total control over anyone who wants to use YouTube now.

You can set clippy as your profile pic and feel like you have done something, but it's not gonna change anything.

If people want to actually do something, they should abandon these predatory services and go open source or maybe become anti tech as much as possible. It doesn't matter whether or not you signal to the Zuckerburgers on top how you feel if you're just gonna continue to use their products.

The only thing that would scare them would be the numbers plummeting if they saw a mass exodus from their platforms and services and people actively began looking for alternatives. But most people can't be fucked to do that because they are too enmeshed with these services that it is easier to stay. But putting clippy as your profile pic is super easy and costs you nothing so yay. You get to feel like you did something without actually sacrificing anything to make change and the Zuckerburgers will look at you and shrug. "Ah, the peasants are blowing off some steam again".

Sorry for being so negative, but this is honestly so fucking weak. I may have missed something, but when has slacktivism ever changed the minds of these companies?

Total lie

I know it is popular to shit on Friends these years, but I think that it captures the growing up part of life pretty well as the show is basically about capturing a snapshot in time of a group of friends when they were the closest before adult life tore them apart. Because that is how the show ends. They all grow up, have adult responsibilities, different priorities and they all leave the apartment complex to start new lives away from one another.

In my 20s I had a group of friends for awhile and we would hang out in each other's apartments all the time, sometimes we would sleep over at each other's places and have breakfast together before heading to school. We would go on picnics and excursions together. All pile into the old, rusty car that one of us owned and drive somewhere.

We had a pub we liked to visit semi-regularly and we were pretty 50/50 men and women.

When we got our degrees, most of us packed up and left. We are now in our 30s and some have had kids in the meantime while most of us have grown apart. Some of us still keep in contact and hang out when our schedules permits it, but it isn't like it was when we were in our 20s.

To me, Friends is an idealized version of the friends group stuff in your 20s. To me it isn't as unrealistic as it's being made out to be nowadays, but it is idealized.

I treasure the few years I got to have good friends and classmates that I loved to hang out with and treat as family. No matter how much time passes, whenever we get to meet up again, it is almost like no time has passed at all, and that is such a great feeling, even if we only get to see each other like once a year.

To normal people: be nice to kids because they need the support and encouragement to grow into stable adults with a healthy sense of self worth.

To the selfish people: be nice to kids because you never know when you might need their mercy in the future.

Anon critiques humanity

Female specimen bleeds once a month and is plagued by hormonal fuckery that makes life unbearable at times. Emotional regulation: hahaha fuck you. Physical discomfort: yessir. Terrible pain from cramps, hormonal migraines and other such hormone related pains: amazing. Acne, oily hair, skin, smelly sweat and bloatedness when hormones go brrrrr: cool.

Vag-hole too small to squeeze out baby head and will often rip open. If unlucky, female specimen will bleed to death after giving birth, leaving baby without protection and food source. Female specimen only has a very small window to procreate and is most fertile when her brain is the least developed post puberty. When her brain is finally catching up in maturity, her body is starting to regress in fertility and getting pregnant is now a risk to her and the baby. Is somehow blamed and often punished for her biology literally fucking with her from the age of 9 to menopause.

I would fucking love if my biggest problem was that my reproductive organs were dangling between my legs and got a bit hot once in awhile.

It's literally the one message every old European used to preach to us younger generations back in the day. I remember how important it was to them to make us understand that the minute we start dehumanizing people we don't like, we are repeating the cycle.

It is why movies like Der Untergang exists. We have to understand that the most despicable people who ever lived were still human beings and much closer to ourselves than we like to think.

I have carried with me, my whole life the knowledge that I am fallible and I am capable of evil no matter how good of a person I think I am. To a lesser extent, every time I have thought I was too clever to fall for x, y and z, that's when I have fallen right into it. "I would never end up in an abusive relationship. I have too much self respect for that" 🤡 "I'm far too strong to become the doormat in this and that friendship" 🤡 "I'll never fall for fake information online. I'm too observant" 🤡

I could never trust myself to believe I would be too smart, kind or principled to not fall into a destructive and abusive pattern of behavior if the circumstances are twisted just right. I think more people would benefit if they reminded themselves of their imperfections and got off their high horses. On Lemmy alone I have encountered far too many holier than thou types who are super duper anti fascist but ironically act exactly like fascists, but to them it doesn't count because they are "on the right side of history".

Am I sad that some nazi KKK guy died? No. But he was human. Most likely a very terrible human, but still human.

Really love the velour floor and leather couch combination. The couch is literally the same color and texture of a volleyball sized tumor a vet removed from a dog when I was interning in 8th grade.

The dog survived, btw. A deeply loved senior lab who came from a family of like five children so the parents decided to save him instead of putting him down.

I was tasked with getting him to eat and drink a little after he woke up from the anesthesia, but all he wanted was to crawl onto my lap and have me hug him and tell him that he was a brave boy. I'm not a dog person by nature, but that geriatric puppy almost converted me, dear lord. I'll never forget that dog. Nor will I forget the tumor. The vet asked me if I wanted to see what cancer looked like on the inside and I said yes and he cut the tumor in half and that was the ugliest fucking thing I had ever seen in my entire 14 years of life at the time.

The fact that someone would use it as a design choice for a couch two decade later is fucking bizarre to me, but what ever, man.

on the male loneliness epidemic

I think it is funny how you post this, then in the comments deny that this is the type of opinion someone like you, a proud leftist feminist have, and that it is actually most men who think like this.

depends on your circles. in feminist and leftist circles, it usually means the first but most men outside of those circles use it just to mean “im not getting the dates i am ENTITLED to 😡"

If that is the case, why did you make this post? What was the purpose of your post if this isn't how you think about lonely men? What did you want to achieve with it? I can tell you, that you're not going achieve anything positive.

I assume you'd like to be treated with respect and compassion yourself since you have that blåhaj attached to you. That respect and compassion is a two way street.

The fact that SOME men feel entitled to women doesn't mean that most men think or feel like that. The loneliness many men (and women for that matter) feel is very real and it is a far bigger and more complex issues than just "lawl, can't get laid".

I personally know what it is like to be mistreated by very bad men. It left deep scars on me that I have to carry for life. However, I promised myself that I would not become a man hater back when I was going through my trauma. I refused to let a couple of asshole determine how I would meet the world and the men in it. It would be unfair to those who had never done a thing to me and it would be unfair to myself because I was better than that.

You too are better than this and you either have to start treat all people with respect and compassion if you want the same in return or you need to own that it is in fact not "most men" who think like this, it is you who think like this. Stand by your convictions and own them or change course because you know that what you're putting out into the world right now is ugly and reductive.
