The fact that you can’t run through Windows setup w/o internet and an online account is absolute bullshit

Back in the early 2000's I started playing with Linux on old machines and have used Linux on an off since. Now I only have one Windows laptop that I need for a few very specific things and it's Linux for any backend stuff. I've got pi's, nucs and a NAS, all Linux now.

I am so grateful for all the hard work people have put in over the last two decades making sure we can step away from Windows without having to go to the Apple or Chrome walled gardens. I've made a career working in the Microsoft stack and I'm so done with them.

Now if I could just figure out how to turn my windows laptop into a VM on my ProxMox machine.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to dig into this. I have no qualms about pulling my HD from the laptop and cloning it, so I should be able to try a bunch of different methods until it works.

For the stuff I need to do on my laptop, RDP is all I need so it can sit on a server in the basement waiting for me to start it up when I need it.

Fox continues to be out of touch

ie: no individual should have any business having more than 10 million in cash and 250 million in assets, or whatever.

Kim Stanley Robinson goes into a great deal of detail about this idea and other similar economic ideas in his Mars trilogy. For example for large projects where you would need a great deal of capital, companies(which are limited in size by law) would be allowed to form temporary cooperatives for the duration of the project(subject to approval and oversight, of course). It's definitely worth reading.

I think campaign consultants are the root of this problem, at least in the Democratic party. When you have a campaign run like El Sayed's, where no corporate or PAC money is accepted, then you need to knock on doors, and talk to people. Traditional campaigns pay millions to the consultants who then spend your war chest on legacy media ad buys, which they get a commission on.

This is one major reason why El Sayed, Mamdani, et al, are such a threat to both parties and also why legacy media has targeted Hasan Piker. They are just as effective, if not more effective, without giving special interests(capital) power over them.

We're not in a left/right struggle as much as a top/bottom struggle.

An 82-Year-Old Congresswoman Told a Fourth Grader His Teacher Was Feeding Him Propaganda. His Essay Was About Electric Cars

She wrote that 2038 is only 12 years away, and that "YOU and your classmates will be responsible for paying down the national debt."

Nevermind that Trump and the rest of the congressional Republicans increased the national debt by 3 trillion dollars already, fuck you kid for wanting something good for everyone instead of only wanting good stuff for the Epstein class.

Have you ever met an actual dumb person?

I once worked with a guy who did not know the sun was a star and didn't know what planets were. This was when I was in the military. I had a an unlabeled world map in my office and whenever someone new(to Germany) came in to be introduced I'd point to the map and say, "I'll buy you a beer if you can point out our location on the map". It was just an icebreaker so pointing at Europe was good enough. It was shocking how many people couldn't locate Germany on a world map and quite a few couldn't locate their home state on that world map.

I worked with another guy(a computer programmer) who thought the earth was 6000 years old. He also once told me that vertigo is when you feel like you're standing still and the earth is spinning and indigo is when it feels like you're spinning and the earth is still.

I work with and interact with professionals and am often reminded of something Richard Feynman said, "Never confuse education with intelligence, you can have a PhD and still be an idiot."

The Democrats Are Determined Not to Learn From Their Failure

Lesser of two evils is just for general elections where you only have two choices and you need to slow the rise of fascism.

Progressives need to get on with primarying the fuck out of establishment Democrats. When you have a progressive running against a fascist in the general, polls have shown that the progressive ideas will win....if the voters are focused on policy rather than succumbing to emotional manipulation.
