Pump companies full of what? Data centers? Do you have a list of "colonies?" That are getting data centers shoved into them?

Texas A&M physics prof writes: In ten years, light diffused by satellites will erase the the stars for the vast majority of humans. Save the night sky now.
Reply in thread
The difference is, you can still go somewhere to see the stars. This guy is pointing out that you WON'T be able to do that because of satellites, where changing you're own viewing area can't effect that same change.
You seem to misunderstand the premise of this opinion article.

Like any technology, doing it under capitalism is kinda the problem.
There's no restraint being put up to do it in a way that's actually FOR the people instead of for financial gain.
I think it can be worthwhile with lessened impact on the environment. Doing it the way we are with SpaceX launching a ton of cheap SATCOM satellites is BAD.

Yeah, similar article by ABC says "upset". Then they compare the money that each candidate raised.... It wasn't an upset, people are angry at the mistreatment we've been going through. The money in politics is an abomination.

Among other things
This is misleading. Colorado doesn't have a law restricting government contracts with companies boycotting Israel. It DOES have a law preventing the state pension from investing in companies that boycott Israel though.
This is probably more accurately a map of states with Anti-BDS laws supporting Israel.

Nations are made of people, that make local gov, that make state govs. We need to change the smallest part that makes up the rest of the machine before you can "fix" the 2 party system.
Everyone keeps taking about the DNC like it is some colossus. We can either change it to our liking or make our own, but either way it starts by changing the smallest parts first.

Purple Heart vet sues after National Guard troops detained her as she sat quietly in the front yard of her DC home
Reply in thread
National Guard is a small part (and state specific) of the military AND is mostly representative of the state they're from. They usually have a more homogenous world view derived from the culture of their state.
Active duty military gets to experience other places and takes people away from their home state, usually improving their world views.
Point being, it's not black and white, and generalizations are generally useless.

Words that teach how to truly love
I will say, sometimes you need space/time to settle an argument. Not saying let it hang but I think understanding your partners space/time needs is critical.
Still saying I love you every night helps a ton though!

Why do people claim when they buy lets say an M16 Fully Automatic Assault Rifle it is for hunting or self protection? Could you just bow and arrow during a hunt for more of a challenge?
Reply in thread
You can't easily buy one. You need a tax stamp and that's a bit of a process. But you can buy one.

When life imitates art
Just to clarify, the leader is a "white savior" from that empire who's dad died. Not one of the indigenous people. He was only able to take power because of the CIA/Benegesserit planting religious propaganda about said white savior.
So this isn't quite accurate but close enough?

ELI5 Why are most Americans news outlets keep saying we are flying to the moon? When in all actuality we are flying around it?
Reply in thread
Do you understand how far orbits are in general? We have satellites in orbit around earth at varying distances based on what service those satellites provide. Some of those orbits are 22,000 mi above earth, which is a super popular orbit distance.
I would still consider these things as part of earth because it's a physical feature of earth. Same with the moon. In astronomical terms, getting within several thousand miles of a thing, is entering the physical space of that thing.
I'd compare it more to going to the 820 loop around Fort Worth. You're not in Fort Worth, but if you lived in New Mexico and we're going to a small town outside Fort Worth, you might still tell people that you're headed to Fort Worth.
