It's almost like drug addicts are still people who deserve to be treated like people. Throwing them in jail and subjecting them to police brutality does not help anyone except the fake numbers game of the police. I think when Reagan fired all the ATCs, they were temporarily replaced with military trained ones until they could hire and train replacements. But that was a time when there was significantly less air travel and less ATCs than we have and need now.

So maybe they might have the military take over some positions? There's no way they could fill every single airport and I doubt that they even have the same training and skill set as commercial ATCs.

But having a military take over of airports is the kind of dictator move that probably makes someone like trump salivate.

I've talked to a lot of different people about this. People in different states, ages, professions, etc. Pretty much the main thing that keeps people from voting is that no one feels represented by either party. And for some people, they haven't felt represented their whole lives.

Also the whole voting is patriotic thing is kind of bullshit at this point. No one that I know personally thinks of voting as a super important thing that everyone should be proud of. That's just a media thing.

One of my neighbors has a plain grass lawn. And to his credit, he puts in a lot of work into it. I'll see him multiple times a week spending hours maintaining it, buying and spreading mulch, watering, trimming, raking, the works.

But it just looks so boring and unnatural. I can't imagine why he would put in all that time, money, and effort into something so unremarkable.

Interesting those numbers have largely not changed in 40 years. Honestly I was guessing that we needed way more ATCs since the strike because air traffic has increased so much since then. Do you happen to know why the need for ATCs hasn't really changed?

There's billions of people in the world. Someone somewhere is always going to have it worse. I don't know if this is a regional only thing but there are brick and mortar restaurant supply stores. You usually need a membership to buy from them but you can bulk buy the same food and supplies that restaurants buy.

You could have the local evil person have an army of builders building some evil building, supplementing their pay with beer. Such a massive work force would require a lot of beer siphoning off most of the local supply. As the beer supply dwindles, the price increases.

Also they are functionally illiterate. It's a wide encompassing term that ranges from people who can't read English because they just moved here to people who can only read basic words like stop and go or words they encounter often in life but not much more than that.

I would imagine many people who are functionally illiterate just go to work, watch tv, and sleep.
