I am confident you have it exactly backwards. In the summer fan pushes air down to create active airflow that cools you through increased evaporation.

In the winter, fan pulls air up creating circulation to avoid cold spots in the room. Being able to feel air movement makes people feel cooler even if the air is the same temperature as they are.

Y'all, this is incredible!

Followed a similar path as you - a few months ago. I went from using the self-compiled infinity app on Reddit, (which so far still works) to Voyager on Lemmy. At first I was sort of opening both like 50/50, but now I'm at the point I only open Reddit like if I do a search and need to see an answer that happens to be on Reddit.

Lemmy was a little too slow at first but I see post volume going up slowly, and I keep subscribing to new communities. I share a lot of the sentiment here and am excited to see Fediverse systems continue to succeed and pull people away from the advertisement machines.

Why Normal People Aren’t Using AI Agents

Reply in thread

There was some research recently that showed the same thing. People who are "dug in" on a topic, usually a political topic, will shut down when a person tries to persuade them of an alternative, but are much more open to hear the same arguments from AI and actually reconsider their position.

I believe this is a big reason why X-Ai was so important for conservatives to get off of the ground, they were afraid all the crazy would start wearing off if people asked the "woke" models for the truth.

Linux desktop use spikes to over 10% in North America for the first time. There is also a corresponding drop in Windows and OSX use.

The recent Hardware Haven video I think was better that the LTT videos. That dude does a great job presenting some pros and cons and is much more level headed in his approach.

But I agree that the big names in YT is doing a good thing showing people it's not too hard to switch, Especially if you have a spare SSD so you can keep your Windows install just in case.

Good replacement for firetv stick?

Roku has WAY LESS ads than Fire TV. Yes I get one on the home screen, off to the side, easily ignored.

It's true they might add more later. It is pretty much the only corporate strategy these days.

Idk if Apple TV is still no ads. It is usually suggested as the best home streamer.

When your vehicle outlives its cloud: What happens next?

Anacdotaly I suspect most car software bugs aren't hunted or patched at all, unless an exec at the company happens to run into the bug in their personal vehicle and flags it for the development team to fix.

I've heard too many stories of car software issues where the dealer gives it back with a note "reset the battery and tested good" but the bug is still easily reproduced.
