‘United Healthcare’ Using DMCA Against Luigi Mangione Images Which Is Bizarre & Wildly Inappropriate

But the disturbing thread running through all these requests is how easy it’s become for copyright trolls to leverage the DMCA to intimidate providers

I remember this issue being pointed out by the more vocal critics of the dmca when the bill was working its way through Congress. They warned that "remove first, ask questions later" would be abused by corporations in this exact manner with effectively no recourse for people who can't afford a lawyer for every single time there victimized by a wrongful takedown request.

And here we are, decades later, and it's been a problem this whole time.

Electoral politics doesn't get the job done

A strike that has a scheduled end date is a strike that's has scheduled its own failure. A ten day strike would achieve nothing except the suffering of it's participants.

Yes, the economy would grind to a halt, yes people would likely die, yes it would financially hurt the powerful people in charge.

But do you really think those powerful people will give a shit? They know after ten days the gravy train will resume, but only for them and not the people who lost their jobs, got arrested, were injured, etc. The rich and powerful can afford to be patient, meanwhile everyone who sacrificed for ten days is going to have to question whether they can survive doing it again.

No, we're way past the point where our society can afford another failed effort to affect change. We need a general strike that doesn't end until the government capitulates to the needs of the people. It's all or nothing, now. ☹️

Slovakian sees a video about American suburbs

incompetent

No, malicious. Racist in fact.

Suburbs were intentionally designed to be hostile to families without a car. This created a financial barrier to living in the suburbs, organically weeding out "undesirable" (aka non-white) families. Yes this also meant that many white families also couldn't afford to move to the suburbs, but that was a downside the rich white racists were willing to accept if it meant keeping most non-white families out.

What is the most obscure fact you know?

Diamonds aren't stable and will eventually, over billions of years, decompose from their cubic molecular structure to carbon's more stable form, graphite, which has a hexagonal molecular structure.

Oh, here's another good gemstone related one!

Amethyst and citrine are both quartz varieties, and if the color source happens to be from traces of iron in the crystal lattice, one can be turned into the other. Heating amethyst can make citrine, and irradiating citrine can turn it into amethyst. This is because the only actual difference between the two is the valiance level of a specific election in the iron atom giving the stone its color.

Village People Singer Denies “Y.M.C.A.” Is a “Gay Anthem” As He Defends Trump’s Use of Song

I hate him saying "get your mind out of the gutter" as if even thinking about people who are gay is itself a perverted sexual act.

Gay people exist. Acknowledging this and discussing whether a piece of media is directed at them is not "mind in gutter" stuff.

I don't want to go so far as to say this person is homophobic, but it sure does sound like some internalized homophobia, perhaps.
