The Tokenpocalypse Is Here: Companies Are Scrambling To Stop Spending So Much on AI | Leaked audio from Accenture says a big source of AI token ‘chewing’ is people just converting PDFs to presentatio…

This is actually very common across businesses. My company actually has our bonuses tied to AI adoption, so we have dashboards showing people's AI usage. Other major companies have done the same, which lead to the practice of "token maxxing" where people were using AI to make more AI calls to boost their numbers up.

Remember your fallen heroes

This movie is one of my first core memories. I distinctly remember standing on the movie theater seats cheering with my brother when they played the "The Touch" and my mom smacking us and telling us to sit down.

I also remember Optimus Prime cussing in that movie ("damn"?) and being shocked - but now I can't find it when searching. So maybe I made that part up?

2 in 3 Americans say U.S. democracy is in danger of failing

Someone in my neighborhood has a sign up in their yard that says "Thank you President Trump". I for the life of me cannot think of a single thing he has done that's even remotely improved the lives of the average person.

I'm genuinely curious what these people think Trump has done that's so fantastic that they need to put a sign out to thank him. Their reality must be completely batshit crazy.

Don’t forget to use your paper straw!

This fuckin' guy. He lives in Newport Beach and was made the CEO of Chipotle, which was headquartered in Denver. Since he didn't want to move to Denver, he laid off almost the entire corporate office and moved it to Newport Beach.

He justified all this by having a consulting company come in and do a study about where the best restaurant talent is in the US. Surprise, surprise. The best place for a corporate office just happened to be right where this assclown lived.

I guess what I'm saying is two things:

  1. Fuck this clown.

  2. Starbuck corporate employees are about to be surprised to learn that apparently Newport Beach has the best coffee talent in the country.

Russians Are Strangely Stumped About Why Moscow Is Getting Bombed

In a video that went viral, a well-known blogger complained about how rude it is for drones to be launched “when people are sleeping.”

“Ukraine is going crazy. Drones at three in the morning. Have you lost your mind?”

This made me laugh way harder than it should. Like, "I don't mind the war but can we keep it from 9:00-5:00? Oh and I was thinking of stepping out early on Friday so maybe call it a half day?"

Her argument is that more people will move to red states as a result. I hate to break it to her, but increased population density is almost guaranteed to make states turn blue.

So by winning, Democrats are actually losing, making red states turn blue, so Democrats are winning. Suck it, commies!

Been a good couple of years

I remember 2 years ago trying out Lemmy and getting a few laughs about beans and trying not to poop. I thought "this is ok, but I don't think this will ever replace Reddit in my day to day."

But I stuck with it and have come to love and appreciate Lemmy. The number of users has continued to grow and I feel like there's enough content here now that I never feel bored. Plus I feel like even small posts and comments get attention and we're not just screaming into the void.

So happy cake day to all who did the same thing!
