Help managing weeds in lawn

We've just got our first house and with it came a lot of new challenges in the shape of gardening.

One issue I have not managed to solve is weeds in our lawn.

I have been ripping these things out of the lawn a lot (see pic in post) but I feel like I can't win. There are big patches where you can hardly see the grass.

I know not everyone want the perfect grassy lawn, and I don't need perfection. But these things are growing and spreading at an alarming rate. I need to do something about them.

Where we are at now, I feel like we are past the point of ripping them up one by one. We need some wider, more effective solution.

What are these and how do I fight them in scale?

Sustainable Shoes?

I need new shoes and want to buy shoes that can be disposed of without a bad conscience when worn out.

I've understood plant-based materials and biodegradability is some sort of holy grail for sustainable products, but I am struggling to understand really how biodegradable the different materials are.

Some brands tout 100% plant-based, but might still need industrial composting conditions to properly decompose.

Then again recycled plastics from old fishing nets and such is good if it takes them out of the oceans. But then, how do I dispose of then when worn out?

Or should I go nuclear and buy something new, non plant·based, but super high quality product that might last me longer?

I feel a little lost in this jungle.

I liked the concept of the OAT shoes, but they seem to have gone out of business.

Any advice? Certifications, brands, materials to look for?

Noob Question(s) regarding my cartridge/stylus

I bought an old Pioneer turntable to get started playing records.

Now I wonder, what type of cartridge is this? And can I upgrade it? Or do I just get a new cartridge?

How can I tell if the stylus is in good shape or not?

I appreciate any answers.

To be clear; I just want to learn and understand more and also understand my options going forward :)
