My dog is on an antibiotic for Lyme disease and he will not sleep at night because his stomach is upset

What does the vet say?? There are no other antibiotics or painkillers available?

Jesus just go hold and comfort your damn dog. Go sleep on the floor with him. You should hope that if you are ever in a situation where you're in too much pain to sleep, literally screaming, and desperate for comfort from the one person your life depends on, that they don't treat you like such a burden.

Your dog is only a part of your life, but you are your dog's WHOLE life. You're enduring a lack of sleep, but your dog is suffering and does not understand why the person he loves so much won't help him feel better.

Instead you're locking him in a cage and trying to drown out his cries. Be better.

I fully believe the dental profession attracts a lot of sadists and freaks. Truly, I have had some horiffic experiences.

I think the previous generations were conditioned to accept it, because the technology and techniques were much more uncomfortable. My parents are impressed as long as the dentist isn't intentionally injuring them, lol.

The best thing I did was switch to a practice for people with dental phobia, and they literally don't do anything special except be very gentle, and make sure you're well anesthesized, and communicate everything, and check in with you frequently, and give plenty of breaks. Like every dentist should do.

People should feel free to be picky about what kind of dentist they see! You can actually have comfortable dental procedures these days!

ADD used to be a separate diagnosis, but now they classify both as subtypes of ADHD: Primarily Hyperactive or Primarily Inattentive. I'm ADHD-PI and can't relate to stereotypical hyperactivity at all.

YouTube star Mikayla Raines dies by suicide at 29, husband blames online abuse

So the responsibility lies with the person who wasn't thick-skinned, and not with the (likely) hundreds of people who tormented them, got it.

Being sensitive and deeply affected by the treatment one receives from others is a normal human trait. It's not a moral failing. In fact, the world would be a better place with more sensitivity.

It's interesting how so many people won't criticize the bad actors, but easily criticize those on the receiving end of this behavior.

RFK Jr. set to launch disease registry tracking autistic people

Reply in thread

The RFK Jr episodes also led me to believe that RFK Jr is probably not as neurotypical as he probably wants to think.

Which is not surprising considering the amount of hatred and seething rage that some unrecognized neurodivergent people (primarily low support needs) have for anyone exhibiting neurodivergent traits.

After years of social rejection (especially by family) and being denied support, many neurodivergent people learn to mask their traits at all costs. So when they see others openly express their traits or receive accommodations, it can feel deeply triggering, even infuriating. This resentment often fuels a cycle of shame and suppression that repeats across generations in ND families

Most of the late-diagnosed autistics/ADHDers in my circle have experienced abuse from undiagnosed autistic/ADHD parents. These parents, having been forced to mask their traits due to less obvious support needs, often harshly suppress the same traits in their children to avoid stigma.

Some people who’ve struggled want to ease the path for others; others believe everyone should struggle as they did. The latter are the ones who go on to try to abuse their kids (and sometimes a whole country) out of being neurodivergent.

ChatGPT Tells User to Mix Bleach and Vinegar

Reply in thread

The problem is not that this person asked chatgpt for cleaning tips (tbh it's pretty cringe to call someone lazy and stupid for trying to learn something 🙄 Have you seriously never looked up how to clean something weirdly specific? And I suppose those who weren't lucky enough to have parents who taught them how to adult properly are lazy and stupid when they try to learn?)

The bigger problem is that LLMs are being used to create content for the web. So now someone who knows they can't just mix any old chemicals together is going to Google whether bleach and vinegar are safe to mix and find a bunch of websites that have contradictory info.

These people, whether they use LLM to search or to create content, aren't even the root of the problem. Expecting that everyone is tech savvy enough to understand the limitations of generative AIs and how untrustworthy they can be is an unrealistic standard, especially in a world where everyone and their brother is using them and they seem like miracles of technology.

The responsibility lies with the companies that keep touting this technology as something it is not and who refuse to put meaningful limitations on them, and with governments who are dragging their feet in regulating them.

Google Fiber goes big with 20-gig plan

What makes you think people are fine with it? ISPs have monopolies over service areas and can do whatever the fuck they want. They have monopolies because of corporate lobbying. No amount of voting gets these corrupt fucks out of office bc votes literally do not matter and there's only two parties, they're both to the right of center, and they're both bought and sold. Just to really make sure, we're all taught from birth that the US is peak civilization and all other countries are backwater shitholes.
