New Zealand man wrongly jailed for 18 years wins S$4m payout
“Wins”, really? That’s a disgusting way of putting it. He’s compensated for time spent in prison, but the time will be forever lost.

"Block The Rich" is like an ad-blocker, but for obscenely wealthy people with overinflated egos.
I also have several projects where I’m the only user, but I wouldn’t let that stop me from adding features for fun and exercise.
It’s not for me though. But I want to stress it’s not because I dislike it, but I find that seeing something blurred almost highlights something that’s gonna annoy me is here. Otherwise my brain would just kinda blank it. Good job tho, and I hope folks here are more interested.

Refugees overqualified and underpaid in Germany
I have moved to a new country myself (from within Europe to within Europe). I feel such articles often underestimate how important culture and language is for us to work together. Beyond just skills and education. Ironically though, employment is a quick way to learn how to fit in.

You just exit them? It’s the people getting onto a roundabout that have to wait.

Doubly egregious when you have one of those annoying GDPR windows that make opting out a hassle just to view the menu. I’ve left restaurants over this.

Is it me, or the hive mind mentality has come over here as well?
I’ve only skimmed your comments, but I think a factor is also that a lot of them are really hard to read.
Examples I see are weird sentence structure, the lack of paragraphs for longer messages, the lack of capitalisation, and rather odd/hyperbolic use of words (writing in the same way you’d speak?). This “style” just gets interpreted as “noise” when I’m reading it, which will get downvoted as it doesn’t contribute.
English isn’t my first language either (it’s not even my second or third!) so I understand it’s very hard to get these things right. But without sufficient clarity you will get downvotes, as it just comes off as noise.

Do you roll with failures or do you load and try for your "expected" outcome?
Reply in thread
BG3 have something called karma dice to balance it out if you’re unlucky with your rolls. It’s on by default.
I always roll with the rolls, failure is part of the game.

I get that at work too and often it’s a trust issue. The other fella could get it done faster, but could he get it done equally well? Support time will eat future development time.

Disco Elysium is a game about constant failures. It’s a central theme in the game. Save scumming in that game, it feels like it would lessen the impact of the story.

Yeah same. I see a mix of positive and negative.

Bare 20 % ønsker vindkraft på land, kun 2 / 79 ordførere sier ja til vindkraft i sin kommune. (artikkel i innlegg)

Yeah this feels like a strange combo. Like it’s one of those meals where someone added meat because all meals must have them.
The toasts look great tho.

Even then it’s still a quick mistake to make. If I’m not paying attention I could easily make a mistake like this, because I’m used to reading things left to right.

Ban on walking more than six dogs to go ahead

They likely must have some statistics. But if I had to do an uneducated guess, I would guess it’s also due to poorly socialized dogs from lockdown time. Not that it’s mutually exclusive.

A decade after a disastrous launch, is Apple Maps finally good?
In the Netherlands, I want to say that Apple Maps is actually better than Google… but only if you’re driving.
For some insane reason they don’t have biking maps here (or at least in all the places I’ve tried) which is such an enormous blunder.

UK to retain EU safety mark in latest Brexit climbdown
I’m having trouble finding a government source on this, as it would be useful for us to know if we need the UKCA mark or not after all on our export products.
But I’m frankly not surprised, there’s so many regulatory things regarding the UK that’s just in limbo, making it really annoying for us to actually follow the rules. Our company has more than once considered just pulling out of that market.

Australia’s internet providers are ditching email, to the disgust of older customers

You can always buy a domain, and let a service take care of email hosting for you. Lots of email providers allow this.
