A two-child household must earn $400,000 a year for childcare to be affordable, study says. ‘It’s easy to see why birth rates are falling’

Lost my wife in September. Girls aged 6 and 3. I'm already a hollowed out husk of a human, without support from grandparents that live in the same city I don't know how I'd ever get by. I am a parent and I don't see how parents do it. Sorry to dump but this resonated with me.

Canada computers is 100% a legitimate site, and they also have brick and mortar stores all over. I'm in Ontario, and there's one about a 30 minute drive from me. I've used their website before to order things in, then go pick them up.

Starship Simulator - Official Game Overview

This seems too good to be true, or at least like a naive dev who's got pie in the sky dreams... After playing the demo do you have any hope that it lives up to this overview's expectations?

how do you find an online play group?
Follow up: has anyone had any great success? I applied for one game, we had one session and DM bailed. Been reluctant to try again since.

How would your ideal follow-up to Bloodborne look like?
Something that I think contributed to the lightning in a bottle feeling of Bloodborne was the eldritch not-everything-is-as-it-seems setting, and I just loved going down down down into madness as you're battling these tough bosses and enemies. It'd be tough to nail that magic again... A different night of the hunt? Legends of a hunter that communed with the old ones? Became an old one?

Actually they represent the same distance, the different spellings are just regional. See center vs centre.

What Are You Playing This Week? October 09, 2023 edition
I'm finally getting around to resident evil 7
It is hands down the scariest entry I've played so far. Figured it would be fun for October. Has anyone played village and does it compare?

At first I frowned and rolled my eyes Then I read that and thought, Hmm yeah they're probably right I'm in my own privately curated echo chamber. But, it can't be all that bad if that private echo chamber is all about compassion and empathy, right? Sometimes living in a bubble can be a bit healthy right? I dunno, rambling.

Interesting! I've always sort of thought that my enjoyment of dnd was due to playing with players I know, you've got that 100% buy in... But I guess nerds are everywhere on the internet and it would be the same with a group from a forum! Hmmm... Do I take the plunge?

Helldivers 2 overtakes God of War and Spider-Man to become PlayStation’s biggest PC release to date
I'm borderline obsessed with it, it's very fun and so far all the cooperators I've encountered have been super helpful, not trolls, and interested in doing as many objectives as possible - a refreshing online experience

What do all you coders actually do?
Reply in thread
I got laid off before the AI got really and truly going at the company I was at. We had a mandate to have 90% of the code submitted to be covered by unit tests. How does the whole "vibe coding" crowd handle that aspect? Do they just ask the AI to create unit tests for the code it generates as well? I always heard a lot of complaints about unit testing but I quite enjoyed that part at times.

If you had access to a scifi-level artificial super intelligence that could simulate anything perfectly at unimaginable speeds, what experiments would you want to run that would be unethical otherwise
