Funny how that works

The number of recalls hasn't changed significantly. It's one of those things that is constantly happening and only gets picked up by the news when it starts getting clicks for whatever reason. It's like when that train derailed in Ohio and then the media made everyone think there was a sudden epidemic of train derailments.

I say this not in defense of the current administration, but to calm potentially over-frazzled nerves.

The worst years in recent history were 2011 with 33 deaths and 2024 with 19 deaths. We're at 2 so far this year. It's true that the cyclospora outbreak made an unusually high amount of people sick, though.

Interestingly, turtle ants aren’t in door-mode at all times. You can see the entrance to their nests open, but as soon as they sense danger, be it a top on the wooden wall of their tunnel, or pheromones of an enemy, the door is immediately plugged shut.

I'm glad they get breaks.

The Moon is an Alien Trojan Horse

The volume of the sun is 1412000000000000000 km^3.

The volume of the moon is 21958000000 km^3.

sunvolume / moonvolume = ~6.4 million km^3.

You could fit more than 6 million lunas inside the sun (well, if you joined their volumes into one giant sphere).

So yeah, saying the moon is 1/400 the size of the sun is laughable.

Now what I think they meant to say is diameter. It's true: the moon's diameter is 1/400 of the sun's. And it's also true that the moon is about 1/390th of the way to the sun. But they worded that poorly

Hi, American here who can't be fully sedated because it'd kill me. It took my doctor a hot minute to find a surgeon who could do what I needed under local anesthesia, because almost everyone did full sedation for that procedure.
