I just deleted my account. Welp that's 15 years gone. Feels good. Tastes like chicken.

the API changes occur tomorrow, gentlemen, it's been an honor (inb4 Lemmy completely crashes)
Can't be worse than what Musk just did.

Do you think that Lemmy will last or will it die in a few weeks?
I like it. It's not reddit and I like that about it most. I think it will stay and grow. I think we know what we don't want now and Lemmy could just be it.

The price of a cinema ticket in this day and age. No wonder people aren't going to the cinema anymore.

I've never known the movies to not have ads before them and I was born in 1970. How old are you? lol

It's like dumping that leech of a friend that only takes and never gives or pays for anything. Good riddance I say.

Even using Tor, the site load-times seem a lot snappier. Exciting times.

What is your favorite package manager and why?
Apt and pacman. I prefer pacman but apt is just ingrained in my synapses and, like vi, I just use it without thinking most of the time.

Lemmy.world starting guide
Thanks for making this post. It really helped me get a good overview of things. I hope it develops with a more glass half full attitude than the "I'm sorry I can't do that Dave" attitude that Reddit has adopted.

Vim Shortcuts
I started with vi on Solaris so Vim was a damn luxury to use. Not having to use a mouse or a GUI in server environment is a must. Even with all the cool editors out there now I still find myself using it even in X11 environments. Mastering it is a real achievement that you can be proud of because it's never not worth your time.

Agreed. I was an early adopter of Mastodon but I found it so empty and strange. I figured I'd wait a couple of years. Much better now. Already like Lemmy over reddit. Not hard really.

I barely get change out of $100 for two people and food in "Austrortia" . That's with one large popcorn, a choc-top and two large sodas. Needless to say I don't go very often.
