Overcast with a Chance of Doom - Putting the Fun back in [comic, fan edit]

"On the run from her past, Doomie finds herself living in a haunted house with four weird roommates."

This came out in the 2010s, and is from the same guy who did the "Writhe and Shine" strips posted earlier. The artist/writer eventually shifted to other work, though the comic strip archive is still online.

More info about the artist:

edit notes: added labels and background, changed from 1x5 to 2x2. this involved removing the last panel, but I think that was good bc the last panel kind of wrecked the punchline. Also, in the original, the words "funeral director" were hard to read so I had to enlarge the nameplate and re-do the wording. This resulted in top of the nameplate being a little blurry, but I think if I messed with it some more it'd just make it worse.

End of the World (1977) - Mastodon watch party this Sunday evening!

Stars Christopher Lee, aka "Saruman / Count Dooku"!

NASA Professor Andrew Boran is a research scientist who discovers strange radio signals in outer space that appear to originate from Earth. The signals seem to predict natural disasters that are occurring around the globe...

...

Creature Feature found it to be cheap and plodding, giving it 1.5 out of 5 stars.[3] TV Guide gave the movie 1 of 5 stars. Moria found the movie dull and legendarily bad, only worth viewing to see the early work of Charles Band,[4] and gave the movie 1/2 of a star. It further said Lee gave a very good performance, much better than the movie deserved.

Goth (stereo)Type 13 - The Victorian Goth [comic / meme]

::: spoiler Image Text
One of the biggest influences of Gothic fashion has been the imagery in Gothic literature and their movie counterparts, particularly that of Victorian writers such as Edgar Allen Poe and Bram Stoker. Victorian fashions like corsets, lace, frock coats and pale skin are popular throughout the scene, but maybe none wear them with as much style as the Victorian Goth.

Like their Victorian role models, the Victorian Goths wish to convey an image of decorum and dignity. Clothes must be smart and, for many, historically accurate (corsets are to be worn beneath one's garments, of course). Ball dress and mourning garb are particularly prominent in the scene.

Victorian Goths may also indulge in activities that were popular in Victorian high society, including threatre, masquerades, tea parties and poetry. And, naturally, any kind of Dickensian or other Victorian festival that gives them an excuse to parade around in costume (not that they need an excuse).

As for music, opera and classical are the true Victorian Gothic genres, but Victorian-inspired bands such as Rasputina are also acceptable.

Goth (stereo)Type 12 - The Corp Goth [comic / meme]

::: spoiler Image Text
It all began when the Goths started growing up and having to find jobs. They wanted to work in an office (you need a good income to afford all those clothes and CDs after all), but they still wanted to retain their "gothyess." The result? The creation of "Corporate" or "Corp" Goth. These Goths attempt to find a balance between clothes that are "Goth," and clothes that conform to the dresscode at work.

Your co-worker may be one of these types if they have a liking for dark suits (often vintage or retro style) velvet, hats, brocades, silver jewellery in the shapes of spiders/ ankhs/ crosses and of course, pinstripe (so Tim Burton). You may also find the odd cuddly bat, skull-shaped pencil holder, or other oddity on their desk. Or (dead give away) they might come in on a Monday morning having forgotten to remove their black nail polish from the night before.

The Corp Goth look has become popular throughout the subculture, and has fused with Cyber, Fetish, and other Goth styles to become a fashion all of its own. Hence, you will see many Goths sporting pinstripe corsets or velvet suits regardless of their age or occupation.

As for the Corp Goths who do work, their job can almost always be described as "working with computers."

In the Year 2889 (1969) - Mastodon watch party this Sunday evening!

AIP commissioned low-budget cult film auteur Larry Buchanan to produce and direct this film as a color remake of Roger Corman's 1956 film Day the World Ended.[2]

A nuclear war has wiped out most of Earth's population. The film follows a group of survivors who are holed up in a secluded valley and must protect themselves from rising radiation levels, mutants, and in some cases, each other.

...

Paul Gaita from Allmovie called the film "threadbare and blandly executed", but also noted that the film's pacing, and performances were more professional than the director's previous efforts. Finishing his review, Gaita wrote, "No one will mistake this for a classic of the genre, or even one of Corman's titles, but for Buchanan completists and late movie devotees, it's a harmless and agreeable time-killer."

edit notes: this is a 2x5 that I changed into a 4x2, added titles and background. Importantly, I had to remove 2 panels, because Doomie's rant went on just a little too long and made her roomate's reaction seem a little heartless. If you look carefully at the smoke between panels 3 and 4 it's a little jagged bc I had to modify it pixel-by-pixel due to the black background I added - there's probably a better way to do it, but my image-editing skills are still a work in progress.
