Kamala Harris Pulled Off a Miracle | The fact that the election is a toss-up, rather than a Trump landslide, is a testament to the vice president’s political skills

Edit: If Kamala loses, and it looks like she might, I'm blaming her and her campaign. She could have swooned the beliefs of America if she had ran on something better.

Her political skills are trash.

Kamala gained the most approved points after Biden gave her the race.

Since then, her approval rating has plummeted compared to her early numbers, and I think this is because Kamala doesn't really know what to believe.

You can see it with Tim Walz. There was a lot of momentum when Kamala took up the mantle, and that momentum was carried through once the Walz pick came out. Then, around the DNC, the campaign's tone shifted, crawling back to the ethos of the Biden administration. I think this is because Kamala couldn't decide to break away from Biden or not, and because she waited so long, she was around a lot of the same people in the Biden administration, and those people influenced her platform. You can also see this with marijuana and how she changed sides in her time between being DA and senator. Also, how she didn't really have a solid platform to begin with, which should have been established right when Walz was picked.

I'm not here to call her out as a flip flopper. I'm pointing to how she could have steamrolled this election, but chose not to. It saddened me so much when the campaign had silence Tim for his views and policies when those views and policies were the key to victory.

I'm vegan and I don't know why these "vegans" are towing the line to to include non-human species. It's just as gross for vegan humans to apply their values to values in a dominant manner as it is for non-vegans to. Literally vegans doing this is antithesis to the entire cause.

I'm glad they got slapped. You'll always have idiots in a movement I guess...

Just the one!

Who said Lefts didn't vote for Harris?

Are you manufacturing this? Where are the exit polls?

Might a better reason for why Fascism won with this election be that Democrats, including Biden, Harris, the DNC, and the consulting class, failed to campaign to their own base, and even more than their base since most Americans, Dems and Reps, approve of progressive policies?

Jerboa appreciation

I wouldn't be using Lemmy/the Fediverse if it weren't for the devs of this app. I hope we can keep it alive as long as possible, like the fediverse itself. Decentralization is why the internet has prospered this far. It would make sense to have a social internet that's decentralized too

Most of the leftists I know voted for Kamala.

And I love how Democrats' first move after losing is to blame said leftists. We were the only ones calling out the bad moves of Kamala's campaign from the beginning and warning what might happen if she didn't adopt a Walz ticket (or mostly a Walz ticket).

Democrats did this to themselves. It's the reason why they kept supporting a corpse of a candidate with Joe Biden for so long until the first presidential debate, and it's also the reason why Hillary was picked over Bernie in 2016 at the DNC.

Leftists weren't the issue. Democrats' own willingness to ignore what was happening right in front of them was the issue.

Do you believe Lemmy/Mastodon can become mainstream and fully replace their centralized counterparts?

Reddit, in my opinion, has become mainstream due to its ability to be searched via engines such as Google. I think Lemmy would need to have that same level of discoverability if the platform should take off. I'm not sure if doing this risks Google or others threatening the platform via "embrace, extend, and extinguish", but perhaps Lemmy needs to be accompanied by a decentralized search engine itself that can browse the entire Fediverse. I'm new to the fediverse so I'm not sure if such a software exists, but clearly I think discoverability is paramount for giving new users a reason to see Lemmy and maybe stick around

A special 911 for CEOs who feel threatened

Yeah fuck this, a special 911 enables the rich to snitch on the poor without any good reason, citing "threats". No specific class of people in a society should have special access to law enforcement.

But who am I kidding. When the SCOTUS ruled that the police protects property and not people, this was the next logical step: protect those with more property than others.

One more step towards a Cyberpunk dystopia. And one more step towards class consciousness, a general strike, and revolution, hopefully.
